‘Can’t nobody tell me nothing’ would be right if you’ve looked at the Billboard Hot 100 charts at least once over the last three months.  Despite attempts from heavy-hitters like Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello, Post Malone, and more, no one has been able to unseat newcomer Lil Nas X and his inaugural chart entry, ‘Old Town Road.’

The Billy Ray Cyrus-assisted number galloped to #1 on the back of controversy and some record-breaking streaming 12 weeks ago and has not been dethroned once in that time period.  With this past Sunday marking the beginning of its 13th week atop the tally, the achievement came with another record-breaking stat.  Billboard reports:

Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, leads the Billboard Hot 100 for a 13th week, rewriting the record for the longest reign ever for a hip-hop hit.

The track passes three such songs that led for 12 weeks each: “See You Again,” by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, in 2015; “Boom Boom Pow,” by The Black Eyed Peas (2009); and “Lose Yourself,” by Eminem (2002-03).

As we congratulate the 20-year-old for yet another career milestone, look inside to see who joins him in the top 25 on this week’s TGJ Chart Check:  Hot 100 edition:

Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars are easily the two most popular male Pop stars on the scene today.  As such, a collaboration of epic proportion just seems fitting.  And, if you ask us, they certainly succeeded with the Rock-tinged ‘Blow.’

The latest effort from the former’s highly anticipated forthcoming opus, ‘No. 6 Collaboration Project’ (which has already seen singles with Khalid, Justin Bieber, and more lifted in its support), ‘Blow’ also calls on help from Country powerhouse Chris Stapleton.

Coming as yet another sonic departure from Sheeran, look inside to hear just what the trio of vocalists cooked up:

It’s almost time to hear the roar of ‘The Lion King.’

Disney‘s live-action take on the 1994 classic arrives in theaters on July 19th and promises to be a blockbuster of epic proportions.

One of key components of the flick is its music, which fuses songs we’ve know and love with new gems courtesy of Elton John and Beyonce – the latter of whom stars in the film as Nala.

Secrecy has surrounded the diva’s original song – which is still billed as “TBA” on the soundtrack.

What is known is that the cut was worked on by Bey, alongside ‘Lion King’ music maestros Hans Zimmer, Tim Rice, and Lebo M.

The latter appeared on an African TV show this week and opened up – all be it cautiously – about the mysterious song. And it seems like its seismic in size.

Daniel Caesar‘s surprise new effort, the ‘Case Study 01’ album, may not be commercially mirroring its wealth of critical acclaim (click here to read), but gems from his debut LP – ‘Freudian’ – continue to ring in successes.

The latest win comes courtesy of notification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as, on July 2, it was announced his H.E.R.-assisted duet, ‘Best Part,’ crossed the threshold for double platinum certification.  Celebrating a sales equivalence of over 2 million units shifted, the 2017-released cut – despite only peaking at #75 on the Hot 100 – fared much better on a number of R&B charts and even nabbed the duo a ‘Best R&B Performance’ Grammy at this year’s ceremony.

Now they’re able to add another honor to the tune’s list of growing accomplishments. Details inside:

While industry critics and fans alike are crowning Madonna‘s latest music video, ‘God Control,’ as one of the most prolific of her 35+ year career, some aren’t exactly singing the Queen of Pop’s praises for the visual’s graphic depiction of gun violence.

Designed to advocate for gun control in the U.S., people like Parkland survivor and gun control activist Emma González admit they recognize the Jonas Akerlund-directed clip’s good intention but that hasn’t stopped their criticism.  Branding the video as ‘f*cked up’ and ‘horrible,’ her sentiment echoed that of Pulse nightclub shooting survivor Patience Carter (who labeled the clip ‘traumatic’ and ‘inaccurate’).
