Welcome to Retro Rewind, the TGJ original feature wheeled out to examine some of Pop culture’s brightest (and more peculiar) moments.

Today, we revisit the true story of the teenager Gypsy Rose and her doting mother Dee Dee.

When Gypsy is struck down by several illnesses Dee Dee vows to fill her child’s life with the care, joy, laughter and support she needs to make it through the impossibly difficult time.

Alas, things aren’t always as they seem.

What happened when Gypsy found love in a hopeless place?

A story one must see to believe.

Madonna fans may have been very impressed by the Pop icon’s lengthy feature in the most recent ‘New York Times’ magazine, but the ‘Express Yourself’ diva wasted no time expressing her disappointment in it.

As we reported here, she not only likened the experience to ‘rape’ but also asserted the interviewer – Vanessa Grigoriadis – perpetuated sexist and ageist stereotypes by overlooking better content gleaned from their interaction in favor of focusing on her age.

Beyonce sprung a surprise on longtime friend and collaborator Melina Matsoukas last night at the AFI Lifetime celebration for Denzel Washington.

Queen Bey presented the director with the Franklin J. Schaffner Alumni Medal at the glitzy ceremony.

Her appearance, while unannounced and a shock for Matsoukas, was especially apt.

Only six months separate fans of Future from his latest effort, January’s chart-topping ‘The WIZRD,’ but that hasn’t stopped the 35-year-old from seeing if he can sprinkle a bit more magic on the summer’s Billboard 200.

Announced just this week (as we reported here), his new project – the ‘Save Me’ – is a 7-song EP that’s been described as “his most vulnerable, visual, and vital statement yet” and stands as a feature-less affair.
