They don’t call her the Songbird Supreme for nothing.

When it comes to Hot 100 stats, Mariah Carey reigns supreme and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who can match or surpass her seemingly insurmountable feats.

Beyond being the only solo artist in the 65-year history to have captured 19 #1 hits, she’s also the only artist to have topped the tally in four distinct decades. Elsewhere, she’s known as the first female act to debut at #1 (1995’s ‘Fantasy‘), the first act overall to have their first 5 solo singles reach #1, and she holds the title for most cumulative weeks at #1 (93 and counting).

And while those accomplishments are just the tip of the iceberg, one of the shiniest jewels in her Billboard crown was being one of two artists to lay claim to charting at least one top 10 hit every year for over a decade.

This week, she learned a third act seems poised to join that fold: The Weeknd.

Post Malone and Swae Lee‘s Hot 100 #1 hit ‘Sunflower’ (found aboard the soundtrack of 2018’s animated film ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’) swung into history books at the height of its popularity for becoming one of the longest-charting top 10 hits ever.

Enjoying a 33 week-run in the chart region (a record for a soundtrack single and second-longest for a duet), the only collaboration to have enjoyed a longer stay in the top 10 overall was The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber‘s 2021 smash ‘Stay‘ (which boasting a 44-week tenancy).

Nearly 6 years after its domination at Billboard, the enduring success of ‘Sunflower’ sees it planted in the record books of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as well.

The Hot 100 has done all but sleep on ‘Snooze,’ the history-making sixth single from SZA‘s chart-busting sophomore album ‘SOS.’

As if marking a personal milestone for being her longest-charting song to date (racking up a whopping 56-week and counting) wasn’t enough, the Babyface-produced bop was penciled in record books when it went on to be the only song to be printed on the hitlist every week last year.

Having already tied or broken Billboard records by music monarchs Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Aretha Franklin, Rihanna, and others, SZA woke up in 2024 to news ‘Snooze’ had helped her break a three-way tie with Pop royals Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson thanks to its rebound into the Hot 100’s top 10.
