Death threats, public shaming, and the sharing of his personal and family’s information online are the result of a Wisconsin man’s battle with #Barbz after he labelled their leader a ‘hypocrite.’
Before the melee, the ‘Chun-Li’ creator Nicki Minaj herself came out swinging at the Twitter user who slammed her for what he deemed a ‘hypocritical’ stance on female sexuality, a topic she brought to the forefront of her recent sitdown with ‘Elle’ magazine when she weighed in on promiscuity and prostitution.
Also acting as covergirl of the mag’s most recent edition, Minaj said:
“Maybe I was naïve, but I didn’t realize how many girls were modern-day prostitutes,” she begins. “Whether you’re a stripper, or whether you’re an Instagram girl—these girls are so beautiful and they have so much to offer. And it makes me sad that maybe I’ve contributed to that in some way.”
The address didn’t exactly sit well with many detractors, some of whom pointed to the Grammy nominee’s sexually explicit lyrics as grounds for billing her comments as duplicitous. One such commenter, who took his thoughts directly to Minaj’s Twitter page as we mentioned aboe, may have been surprised to not only see her clap back but do so in a fiery way.
