Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’  allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

This week we’re turning the lens to ‘The Most Beautiful Girl in the World’ – the lead single from pop icon Prince‘s ‘The Beautiful Experience.’  Released in 1994, the tune – one of the first efforts under his signature symbol (and unpronounceable) moniker and title ‘Artist Formerly Known as Prince’ – ‘World’ is considered the release that solidified his ability to remain a commercially viable act despite the name change and lack of major label support (as it was released “independently”).

Going on to be his first and only #1 in the United Kingdom, the song also fared well Stateside as it eventually went Gold and peaked at #3 (where it was found this week 24 years ago).   It was his last antemortem top 10 hit.

LeVar Burton, the star of Alex Haley‘s ‘Roots’, has revealed that he believes Kanye West‘s views on African-American chattel slavery are fuelled by a chemical imbalance.

West surprised his fans (and pleased Far Right groups) when he argued that enslaved Africans must have chosen to remain in the horrific conditions they were forced into by Europeans for 400 years.

Of course, this struck Burton who has fought to educate the masses on the true nature of chattel slavery through art and activism.

Christina Aguilera is freeing herself from restriction, restraint, and regret on new album ‘Liberation.’

Due June 15th via RCA, the hotly anticipated set (which features production from Kanye West, MNEK, Julia Michaels, and Anderson .Paak) marks Xtina’s first body of work since 2012’s ‘Lotus.’

Rooted in soulful sounds and hard-hitting Hip-Hop beats, the LP is billed as a strip-back of the glossy varnish. Instead, it’s touted as a true return to artistic expression for the superstar songbird.

And she echoes as much in a new promotional video for the album.

Christened ‘Where’s Maria’ (the latter of which is the diva’s middle name), the digital short follows the 37-year-old as she explains the rooting of the ‘Accelerate’ led project and why it’s so important for her.

She also also features previews of new songs – including rumored “main” single ‘Fall In Line.’

The highly anticipated, reimagined take on the classic fairy tale ‘Robin Hood’ saw its trailer hit the net recently.  And, if the critical response is anything to go by, that anticipation has only increased.

Directed by Otto Bathurst, the film – set to hit theaters on November 21 – stars Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx and ‘Kingsman’ star Taron Egerton as the titular character.  Taking to press, Egerton shared:

“It is an origins film,” he explained. “In our version, we see him as a young man who is disillusioned. He’s fighting in the Crusades and he’s actually fighting for the bad guys and doesn’t realize, and he comes back and his eyes are opened, partly through Little John’s [portrayed by Foxx] intervention.”

P!nk‘s ‘Beautiful Trauma’ world tour, which kicked off March 1 in Phoenix, has already proven itself quite the box office draw.  With its first set of dates reeling in figures superior to that of its predecessor’s firsts, 2013’s ‘The Truth About Love Tour,’ the trek – designed to support her latest #1 album, ‘Beautiful Trauma’ – is undoubtedly off to a beautiful start.

Although the first leg of dates include stops in North America, New Zealand, and Australia and is set to close after a multi-night stint in Auckland, North American fans who complained ‘what about us’ after not seeing their cities listed in the initial batch of stops will be pleased to know there’s still hope.

Announcing 37 additional dates next year across North America, the 2019 leg of the ‘Beautiful Trauma’ tour will see her touch down in New Orleans, Nashville, Los Angeles, and more before wrapping at Madison Square Garden in New York City on May 21, 2019.  Look inside to see if she’ll be stomping to your town next year:
