JAY-Z set social media alight upon the release of his new album ‘4:44’ last week.

Easily Jigga’s most truth-baring offering yet, the 10-song set saw him wax honest about his infidelity failings, family secrets, and much more.

The candidness of the LP made for immediate connections to his wife Beyonce‘s 2016 release ‘Lemonade,’ which explored similar themes – from the perspective of the wronged woman.

It also saw many sympathize with her plight and celebrate her strength, on the assumption that everything Jay rapped about was fact.

If indeed so, Mrs. Carter certainly is as strong as they come. Especially, as the executive producer of ‘4:44’ has revealed she was heavily involved in the project.

Speaking to the New York Times, No I.D said:

I always call Bey our de facto A&R. Pillow talk is the strongest conversation on the planet. Every song has to get past her ears, in my eyes. She came by a lot and played a good part in helping us get over hurdles on certain records. Of course she’s genius-level with that.

Given the content on ‘4:44,’ it is somewhat surprising to see Beyonce able to approach the record from a purely professional perspective rather than personal.

That said, as a billion dollar empire, a lot of thought clearly goes into the “Carter” brand.

Once built on the premise of “perfection,” the years since “elevator-gate” have seen a shift towards the willing projection of their flaws and fractures. The by-product f which has seen folk become even more fascinated by music’s first family.

Viewed this way, it’d almost be odd if Bey wasn’t involved in ‘4:44’ somehow. It’s their collective life story and, given their artistic chemistry and respect for one another, it figures why she’d be consulted in some capacity.

Anyway, enough of our ranting. What are…

This October, Chucky returns.

19 years removed from the arrival of ‘Child’s Play’, the iconic horror figure Chucky swings into action with his latest story ‘Cult of Chucky.’

The project will rock theatres on October 3rd and, much to the delight of the character’s fans, unlocked its very first trailer hours ago.

Ready to reunite with the dark and dangerous villain?

Watch below…

Nica Pierce has spent four years in a mental institution after members of her family were murdered, a crime she did not commit. Her psychiatrist gives her a Good Guy doll as a therapeutic tool. Soon afterwards, a new string of murders take place around the asylum, making Nica suspect that Chucky, the possessed doll behind the crimes she was accused of and whom she has concluded is a figment of her imagination, is behind her predicament. Meanwhile Andy, Chucky’s old nemesis and original child victim, comes to Nica’s aid, while dealing with Tiffany, Chucky’s former wife.

From The Vault is back this week with a hit that never was.

Join us as we journey back a decade to 2007 with Nicole Scherzinger, who was eyeing solo domination with her first single ‘Whatever U Like.’

Produced by Polow Da Don and penned by Sean Garrett (two names synonymous with countless hits during that time), the track featured rapper T.I. – who too was at the top of his game.

With all of those ingredients, one would think Nicole had cooked up chart monster, right? Wrong! ‘Like’ peaked at #4… on the Bubbling Under Hot 100. It was the first single from Nic’s equally ill-fated album debut ‘Her Name Is Nicole.’

*********

The single’s smoking hot video was directed by Paul Hunter and boasted a subtle spy theme. Ever arresting on camera, Scherzinger sizzled in solo dance scenes and showcased ample chemistry with T.I.

*********

Sadly for this tower of talent, she has never quite been able to achieve her full potential as a soloist. Nicole is the perfect example of just how uncertain and unfair the music industry can be: clearly she has the full package, yet she has never “happened” in the way anticipated.

Still, numbers (or the lack there of) can’t extinguish authentic hotness and this remains fire.

Here’s hoping Scherzy, who celebrated her 39th birthday this week, will one day someday have her “moment.”If not, there’s always a reboot of the Pussycat Dolls?

Jay-Z‘s well-received ‘4:44′ set delivered many headline making moments when it dropped last week.

One of these?

I sat down with Prince, eye to eye. He told me his wishes before he died.

Before his passing, Prince partnered with the mogul’s TIDAL to release exclusive content but caused confusion for those running his estate by not coming to an official agreement with the company before he died.

Now, Londell McMillan, he must be color blind / They only see green from them purple eyes.

What Londell, Prince’s lawyer, had to say about this?

Who do you think is in the wrong?

Despite starring on ‘The Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ for five years, Kenya Moore was not a wife. Nor had she ever been.

Last month saw that change when the former Miss USA winner secretly wed businessman Marc Daly in St. Lucia.

The news shocked many as Moore had spent much of her time on season 9 of the ‘Housewives’ back-and-forthing with former flame Matt Jordan.

Now, with filming of season 10 underway, the 46-year-old took a break from taping to attend a relationship panel at the 2017 Essence Festival in New Orleans.

Doing away with her usual theatrics, a more subdued Moore waxed honest about her doubts about ever finding “the one: and even admitted that she begun to internalize some of the taunting she received from her cast-mates.

Check out the insightful sit-down below…

It’d be cool to see more of “this” Kenya on the show, but the reality (ironically) is that that isn’t what makes great TV.

What no doubt will though is the reaction of NeNe Leakes and co, who are already dissecting the legitimacy Kenya’s nuptials.

‘The Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ returns to screens this Fall.

Did Mel B “spice up her life” a little too much?

If new details which have surfaced from her legal battle with her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte prove to be true, she did.

How? By losing the $52,000,000 fortune she earned as a member of the Spice Girls by using it to fund an opulent lifestyle.

In 1997, the entertainer built MoneySpider productions and used the business to house the fortune she’d amassed as a member of the Pop force but, thanks to what has been described as an extravagant lifestyle and a mountain of outstanding tax debts, has now seen it reduced to ruins.

A source close to the star revealed:

Mel is an international superstar, still working as a judge on America’s Got Talent, but she only has a small amount of money in the bank, according to Companies House. People may be very surprised.

One of her business accounts is now said to have only $1266 to its name.

Fortunately, the star’s lucrative run as a televised talent show judge have seen her rescue herself from complete financial ruin and it’s the fortune she’s amassed from these ventures that the aforementioned Belafonte hopes will fund the $18,000 he is asking for in spousal support.

Mary J. Blige made a major mark on the 2017 Essence Music Festival.

As reported, the R&B royal staged her own night comprised of performers she handpicked to rock the New Orleans stage.

Jazmine Sullivan, Lala Hathaway, Ari Lennox, and Chaka Khan were some of the names on the MJB bill and they united at the evening’s climax to perform ‘I’m Every Woman.’

Watch them belt Chaka’s smash below…

Vocally, this was kinda shaky all round (sans Jazmine, who sounded super). Still, a cool “moment.”

Kelly Rowland has been juggling the completion of her new album with a judging role on ‘The Voice Australia.’

Today brought with it the finale of the show, which saw Ms. Kelly’s contestant Fasika Ayallew make the last four.

Though she was pipped to the winner’s post by Judah, the lawyer turned in a winning performance of Tina Turner’s ‘Proud Mary’ alongside her coach.

Watch the pair tear the house down with a double dose of divadom below…

They did that!

The vocals, the choreography, the everything. That was a home-run.

Watching this energized us for Kelly’s comeback; fingers crossed she brings this fire to performances of her own come that time.

The demands of delivering live vocals night after night took its toll on the Pop singer Adele this week prompting her to cancel the remaining dates on her latest world tour.

Alas, while some fans have praised her for taking steps to preserve the gem that is her voice, others have sharpened their digital weapons and attacked her brand for its supposed “unreliability.”

Do you think her fans have a right to be angry?

It’s been far from plain sailing for Katy Perry and her ‘Witness’ era, but the Pop star is pressing on.

The 32-year-old’s promo run saw her dive Down Under to perform on the finale of The Voice Australia.

Backed by a troop of sassy dancers, Perry showed up and out to ‘Swish Swish’ – her collaboration with Nicki Minaj.

And while Onika wasn’t on hand for the performance, it didn’t stop it from being the best Perry’s given this era.

Check it out below…

Finally, a performance in which she seemed awake and engaged.

It’s a shame that the song is a ball of blah, but the effort (and there was a lot of it) is both noted and appreciated.

Celine Dion got her freak on and out last night at her tour stop in Lille.

The Canadian diva is famed for her unparalleled vocal prowess, but on the cusp of 50 continues to prove that she’s more than able to work a stage.

Celebrating her return to France, the 49-year-old, dug into her equally successful French discography to perform ‘Le Ballet.’

Paired with a male dancer, the singer slayed a steamy routine that left many in awe.

Watch her dip it low and pick it up slow below…

Yaaas! Yes, Celine!

After trying times in her private life following the passing of her parter, it’s great to see her living her fiercest life. Go girl!

The fall-out between former friends Kanye West and JAY-Z is getting all sorts of ugly.

For, just days after Jigga released a new album featuring a jab at his one time comrade, it’s been revealed that ‘Ye has left his TIDAL streaming service.

And the split is far from amicable, primarily because TIDAL insist that he…well..can’t.

Unbeknownst to the masses, West’s lawyers sent a letter to TIDAL last month claiming that the rapper – a part owner of the platform – was owed $3 million. Due to alleged non-payment, they assert that his contract has thus become void.

What was the money for, you may wonder?

Well, West’s ill-fated album ‘The Life Of Pablo’ added 1.5 million new subscribers to the service last year – something his team claim he was supposed to receive a bonus for and didn’t.

Additionally, Yeezy asserts that a portion of the amount owed is from money he spent on music videos that TIDAL were supposed to reimburse him for. He says they haven’t.

Upon receipt of the letter, both sides spent two weeks trying to resolve the issue to no avail. Once it became apparent that a deal couldn’t be struck, West’s legal counsel once again fired off a notice insisting that that his contract is terminated.

TIDAL are, in effect, saying “Not so fast.”

Sources close to the service say West didn’t deliver the videos required by his contract. His response? The visuals will be handed over when he’s paid what he’s owed.

TIDAL’s final stance, which they have relayed to West’s team, is that he is still legally bound by the terms of his contract. And, should he defect to another streaming service, they will sue.

Sources say Ye is ok to walk away, but should he be sued then he’ll countersue right away. Meow.

The melee comes on the heels of Jay using the song ‘Kill Jay Z’ to label West ungrateful for ranting about him and Beyonce on-stage last year, after he invested $20 million in West’s fashion line.

Word is that this current legal tussle has nothing to do with that, principally because West knew nothing about the lyrics pre-release. The plot thickens.

*********

An actual, legitimate, mess! In any case…

Kanye has become the first of TIDAL’s high-profile “artist-owners” to leave. At least publicly.

With this, one has to wonder whether he’ll be made an example of or lead the way for more exits. TIDAL’s group  of owners includes the likes of Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, and Beyonce. All of whom have had varying levels of success using the platform for their commercial benefit.
