With a bevy of Pop titans readying their respective comebacks for the Fall, Katy Perry is wasting no time kicking off the campaign for her effort ‘Roar’.

Fresh from teasing and titillating with a series of video previews, the Billboard belle revealed the official cover for the single -the first from new album ‘Prism’ – today. Smartly, the artwork was initially only viewable when fans pre-ordered the Dr Luke cut on iTunes:

As longtime readers will know, we love us a well-planned project here at TGJ and oh is Ms. Perry delivering. Granted her campaign likely boasts many more zero’s than most, the following remains valid: if pushed like a hit, a song will likely become one upon its arrival. It’s a memo we wish more of the folk promoting projects these days will digest.

Anyway, ‘Roar’ arrives August 12th. We’re buzzed. Are you?

Last week Billboard unveiled a series of countdowns celebrating the 55th anniversary of the ‘Billboard Hot 100’ – the standard chart ranking system of today’s popular music.

Highlighting everything from the top 100 songs to every #1 song since the tally’s 1958 inception, the article courted little backlash given the fact they were based on legit statistics and not popular opinion…that is, until they unveiled the Hot 100’s top acts.

Now – days after the listing first hit the net – some fans are still up-in-arms about how pop icon Madonna landed as the top solo act in history, beating the likes of Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder.  A feat all the more alarming when some recount the number of chart-toppers rivals Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey have had as well.

So, as always, we turn to you – That Grape Juice faithful – for your input.  Is this worth the fuss?

Brit-Pop fans rejoice!

For, not only are Mutya Keisha Siobhan back in a literal capacity, they are sonically stronger than ever as evidenced at their sell-out comeback gig last night.

The trio (who first rose to prominence as the original line-up of the Sugababes) rocked London’s Scala with a stellar set that whet appetites aplenty for their first album in over 10 years.

Given the…interesting….history that accompanies the “Sugababes” narrative (one best summed up with the words “revolving” and “door”), many have wondered whether MKS would re-tread material released by other incarnations of the band during their re-introduction.

The answer was an emphatic “yes”, with the ladies serving up must-see showings of ‘Babes favourites such as ‘Freak Like Me’ and ‘Stronger’. Also present on the setlist were the gems this line-up released under the Sugababes moniker (‘Overload’ and ‘Run For Cover’).

Yet while there was an air of retrospective during the show, the focus was very much on the future – more specifically the group’s new LP. The project’s lead single ‘Flatline’ received its debut live showing, while the previously teased ‘Boys’ was also performed. Another new cut titled ‘I’m Alright’ proved quite the crowd pleaser.

So what are you waiting for? Check out MKS in action after the jump!
