‘Luther’ is back and this time it’s on the big screen.

Idris Elba returns in the titular role that he made globally notable in the like-titled TV series, which aired from 2010-2019 and earned him a Golden Globe as well as a lengthy list of other accolades.

Set to hit theaters on February 24 and March 10 on Netflix, the new chapter sees a hellacious serial killer is terrorizing London while detective John Luther (Elba) sits behind bars. Rocked by his failure to stop the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther takes matters into his own hands to ensure justice is served.

Appearing alongside Elba in the Jamie Payne-directed film are Andy Serkis, Cynthia Erivo, and Dermot Crowley.

And while many are celebrating the positive steps the Globes have taken toward diversity and inclusion, others are wagging their fingers at the comic for inappropriate and distasteful jokes – particularly one aimed at the late Pop icon Whitney Houston.

‘Ali’ and ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’ are not only regarded as two of Will Smith‘s best motion pictures, but many hail the masterpieces as two of the century’s greatest cinematic offerings.

Sunday (March 27) brought with it what may be redemption, however, when Will walked away with the Best Actor trophy for his acclaimed performance as Richard Williams – father of legendary tennis sisters Serena and Venus Williams – in 2021’s ‘King Richard.’
