Continuing on her in bid to be taken seriously as a “hip and happening” bad girl is Disney star Zendaya, the entertainer originally tapped to portray the late ‘Aaliyah’ in her ‘Lifetime‘ biopic.

Alas, while fellow children’s TV star Ariana Grande built her “cool” on stellar material and faultless vocals with relative ease, Ms. Coleman is still yet to find relevant footing on ground outside of Disney‘s front door.

The answer to her branding problem? Good music.

What she decided to do to score a few cool points?

Much like the iconic Panic Attack” scene in the comedy ‘Airplane‘, it seems every one and their mom waits in line to lay one on Rap superstar Iggy Azalea.

For, after being called racist and self-absorbed by ‘Salon’s Sonia Saraiya, the ‘Beg For It’ lyricist has now seen her ethics thrown into disrepute by ‘Hollywood Stars’ rapper Gangsta Boo, who has accused the rapper of “paying for awards.”

This, after DeadMau5 mocked her ability as a rapper and after her ex ‘Interscope’ sister Azealia Banks slammed her for racially charged remarks she made before the release of her hit single ‘Fancy.’

After getting off to a shaky start performance wise, the Urban Pop force that is Tinashe continues to give her competition good reason a run for their money this year with a set some might agree is one of her best to date.

That’s right…best to date. Where it happened? Power 106‘s ‘Cali Christmas’, the event which saw a number of Hip Hop and R&B’s brightest stars arrive to rock music lovers with their material in celebration of Christmas.

However, few could say they rocked the stage quite as hard as Tinashe, who now moves more naturally than she did earlier this year.

Why it won’t be long before she’s billed the “new Beyonce.”

Since the success of her breakout hit ‘Fancy,’ the lens has truly been on Iggy Azalea.

Despite launching a host of hits from her debut album ‘The New Classic,’ rap’s new girl on the block has not exactly received the warmest of welcomes from the genre’s current tenants.  In just one year she’s broken Lil Kim‘s record for longest run at #1 on the Hot 100 and even bested nemesis Nicki Minaj by receiving an American Music Award win and Grammy nod during her first official era.

Be that as it may, Azalea’s wins are consistently questioned (as is her credibility).  While some have been led some to label her this generation’s Vanilla Ice, the Aussie rapstress seems to take the scrutiny in stride.  In a recent interview with Billboard, read below how she addresses the “haters,” has love for her female rap foremothers, and more:
