However, unlike our other segments – Retro Rewind, TGJ Replay, and From The Vault – The Pop Stop is the most in-depth look at Pop songs that may have flown under the radar over the last week that you should know, rather they be from music’s biggest stars or those on the rise.

This week, we want to highlight cuts from Mickey Guyton, Daya, The Lumineers, and Lily Kincade.

The report surfaced Friday night (September 24) after the 9-time GRAMMY nominee was found listed on the National Crime Information Center’s site as a missing person – a measure that came as the result of her children contacting law enforcement authorities to conduct a wellness check and launch an investigation to confirm her whereabouts.

After teaming with Ty Dolla $ign on the rapper-singer’s joint effort with Jeremih (‘Mih-Ty’) and linking with Queen Naija for her warmly received track, ‘Supa Vibe,’ hitmaking producer Hitmaka joins forces with them both for the new song, ‘Quickie.’

“I need somebody who wit it / I need somebody who get it / I need some love in the city / f*ckin’ like Bobby and Whitney,” the GRAMMY-nominated producer raps on the racy new single.

Tapping Hakeem to helm its music video, the Los Angeles-filmed clip and its accompanying tune are about more than what its title alludes.

“The song came together organically. Me and my partner Chrishan cooked up the demo and were in Miami with Ty Dolla $ign. Shortly after we sent it to Queen Naija and it really came together! It’s about wanting to be with someone but not having all the time needed so let’s make the best of these moments,” said Hitmaka.

At the top of 2001, Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Mya, and Lil Kim rocked the music industry and history books alike with ‘Lady Marmalade’ – their unexpected, chart-topping remake of the 1974 Labelle classic of the same name.

As the song celebrated its 20th anniversary earlier this year, some fans of the four divas have been calling for a reunion to pay tribute to their soaring rendition while other music lovers – as evidenced Wednesday (September 22) – think it’s time the sexy tune be given an update.

With a #33 peak (as of time reported), the original incarnation of MoneyBagg Yo‘s ‘Wockesha’ serves as his third top 40 placement as a song leader and one of his biggest smashes yet.

In an bid to push the Real Red-produced hit to higher heights on the Hot 100, however, Yo has enlisted the help of Hip Hop & R&B veterans Lil Wayne and Ashanti for the tune’s remix.

Weezy already boasted an unofficial feature on the cut’s first version, but the revamp sees him contribute an added verse.  For Ashanti, the songbird’s inclusion was apt as ‘Wockesha’ samples the same Debarge classic,  ‘Stay With Me’ (1983), that she utilized for her 2002 #1 smash, ‘Foolish.’

Earlier this month, August Alsina saw his debut album, 2014’s ‘Testimony,’ become his first album to reach Platinum status in the United States – a triumph that came just months after the album’s tracks, ‘No Love’ and ‘I Luv This Sh*t,’ became his first two singles to reach double Platinum status.

Despite those wins, which have been coupled with calls for new music from his diehard fans, the 29-year-old has indicated he’s not inspired to press forward with his music career.

Barely a year after his ill-fated third studio album, ‘State of Emergency,’ slipped out of the Billboard 200 after a 3-week tenancy (as we reported here), Alsina’s announced he’s set to vacate the music scene all together.
