Welcome to Retro Rewind, the TGJ original feature carved out to celebrate TV and Film’s glorious past.

Today, we honour ‘Sister,Sister’, the game-changing ABC series which catapulted Tia & Tamera Mowry into national treasure status.

Fashioned by ‘Kenan & Kel’ creator Kim Bass, Gary Gilbert and Fred Shafferman, the series told the tale of identical twin sisters who were separated at birth and adopted by two strangers (portrayed by ‘227‘s Jackee Harry & ‘Simon & Simon’s Tim Reid.)

Hilarity and confusion ensues when the sisters, both unaware that the other existed, found each other accidentally and convince their adoptive parents to move in together to stop them from being seperated again.

The show’s ratings-ruling run would last five years and was home to many a 90s TV staple. These included  Britanny Murphy of ‘Clueless’ and Berry Gordy‘s niece Bianca Lawson, who starred in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, ‘The Feast of All Saints’, ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and would go on to become Beyonce’s step-sister.

Ciara is moving on to the next chapter.

The R&B chanteuse was set to hit the road on the second leg of her ‘Jackie Tour’ this Spring. However, in a candid message to fans, the ‘I Bet’ belter announced that the trek has been postponed indefinitely.

Why?

Because she’s working on her seventh studio album!

After a break that seemed never-ending, Empire finally returns to FOX on March 30th.

Season 2 of the hit show hasn’t been as universally praised as its predecessor, however it’s remained a ratings winner and many have praised its strong winter finale.

With the Spring sun near, the soapy drama looks set to scorch thanks to hot storylines and a guest arc from supermodel Naomi Campbell.

Another day, another interesting Raven Symone quote.

The singer/actress, now best known for her oft-controversial opinion on ABC’s ‘The View,’ has been embroiled in negative press since her inclusion on the show.  Lending comments on race (see:  being from every ‘continent in Africa and Europe’ & not being ‘African American’) to sexuality and more, the youngest of the ‘View’ clan has seen her views under constant scrutiny.

Often slammed for their stupidity lack of accuracy, the songbird-turned-talk show host has hit yet another sour note when she took to the show recently to declare she’d leave the country if a Republican candidate is nominated for U.S. presidency.

You read that right…”nominated,” not elected.  Le sigh…

Kesha‘s ongoing legal battle with Dr. Luke reached new heights hours ago.

Following Adele’s decision to throw her support behind the ‘Backstabber’ chanteuse at the BRITs two nights ago, the entertainer has learned that her fans staged a protest outside Sony headquarters in a bid to see her freed from the contract which ties her to her alleged rapist.

Welcome back to TGJ Replay!

Designed much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ features, ‘Replay’ is That Grape Juice‘s newest reflective segment to act as a written quest to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday. Unlike its TGJ retrospective predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to showcase entire albums (and eras) from a library of pop and Urban pop music hits.

Word has it Kelly Rowland is gearing up to unleash new music and visuals imminently.

Still, she took time away from her many ventures to attend the Essence Black Women In Hollywood gala last night in Los Angeles.

Looking lush, Ms. Kelly turned heads for all the right reasons and will no doubt be aiming to do the same with her new material. We’re hearing it’s EPIC.
