With streaming data now counting towards Billboard Hot 100 chart positions, there’s never been a better time for acts to forge music videos that pull in viewers over and over…and over again.

They came, they saw, and they certainly conquered.

Just ask any fan in attendance at this past weekend’s ‘Rock In Rio’ and they would tell you with certainty that two of R&B’s finest – Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys – came armed with an arsenal of their biggest hits and, to fan delight, rocked the Brazilian city with two amazing sets.

Joining the like of their ‘Until the End of Time’ and ‘Put It In A Love Song’ co-star Beyonce (whose set can be seen here), Timberlake and Keys offered over 60 minutes of non-stop, energetic entertainment respectively and lent reworked versions of their signature hits.

Before you know it awards season will be in full swing.

Probably our favorite time of year here at TGJ HQ, we were ever-excited to learn of the Soul Train Awards committee unveiling the nominations for their 2013 showing.

Featuring top heavy competition from the year’s best and brightest in Hip Hop and R&B, TGJ favorites Kendrick Lamar (6), Justin Timberlake (5), Tamar Braxton (5), Robin Thicke (5), Chris Brown (5), and Miguel (5) are leading the pack of nominees for the ceremony.

Set to be hosted by funnyman Anthony Anderson, the show will air on CENTRIC and BET on Dec. 1.  Until then, familiarize yourself with the rest of the nominees below:

Fans of “Raise Your Glass” songstress P!nk are doing just that after learning the songstress was named Billboard”s “Woman of the Year”.  Adding her name to a long-list of fellow chart-toppers like Beyonce, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift, the Grammy-winning mom of one has seen the last year gift her with a host of career milestones.

Aside from landing a Grammy nod for her first #1 album on Billboard 200 (“The Truth About Love”), the year also brought with it her 4th #1 stint on the Hot 100 with “Give Me A Reason”.

Now, to top it off, the songstress is taking a leap into acting with “Thanks For Sharing” – her big screen debut.  But, while chatting with E! News recently to promote it, P!nk shared thoughts on serial twerker Miley Cyrus that left some of the “We Can”t Stop” singer”s fans in an uproar…

It’s pretty clear that ELLE magazine is quite fond of ‘Firework’ wailer Katy Perry.

Last month saw the popstress cover the U.K. version of the mag while this month sees her afront it’s Canadian sister publication showing off an 60’s-inspired look (featuring some of designers Alexander Wang, Louis Vuitton, and Mariano Vivanco‘s threads in both issues).

Unlike the U.K. version, the Canadian feature story has been greeted with much more noise as the ‘Roar’ songstress has made headlines for comments made about BFF Rihanna‘s drug use.

After a few false-starts, this Summer brought with it the release of Ciara‘s self-titled album. Hailed by many as a musical return to form, the project’s most pronounced success came in the form of ‘Body Party’, which danced its way up the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B tallies respectively.

And while a new single has been commissioned (see: ‘Overdose’), it appears the stage blazer already has her sights set on her sixth studio album.
