Today, we shine a light on the 1959 version of  ‘Imitation of Life’, a movie exploring self-hatred within the African-American community by way of a young black girl, portrayed by Susan Kohner, attempts to erase all traces of ethnicity when she learns that she “passes for a white” in a pre-Civil Rights society.

Drama ensues when her quest to pass as a Caucasian woman sees her find herself in dark and dangerous territory as her hatred for her black mother (Juanita Moore) intensifies.

April 5th brings with it the premiere of Kelly Rowland‘s new BET talent-search ‘Chasing Destiny.’

Together with creative director Frank Gatson, Ms. Kelly will share the journey of discovering music’s next big girl group.

More a docu-series than a singing Idol-style competition, the show is receiving a lot of buzz from insiders who’ve praised it for its gritty, raw, and authentic portrayal of what it takes to make it in the music business.

After a string of professional and personal successes over the last year, ‘So High’ hitmaker John Legend has been just that – riding high on award wins, chart-topping hits, and more.

Now, as if forthcoming fatherhood wasn’t enough to sing about, the Grammy & Academy Award winning crooner can boast delivering record ratings for WGN America as his new show, ‘Underground’ (starring Jurnee Smollett-Bell), drew in a whopping 2.5 million with its Wednesday night premiere.

Taking to AOL in a recent interview, Legend weighed in on the controversy surrounding the show as well as racial tension in the U.S. today (ripping into Donald Trump‘s ‘racist rhetoric’).  When quizzed on his new album, however, the singer delighted fans with news they should expect the project in late 2016.
