Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, just as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’ allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature “Chart Rewind” – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

This week we’ll fast backward to 1991 to find music’s “vocal trinity” – Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion – dominating the chart’s top 5.  Carey, whose third single ‘Someday’ dethroned Houston’s ‘All the Man That I Need’ (one of two #1 singles found aboard the songstress’sI’m Your Baby Tonight’ album), was joined by then-rising powerhouse vocalist Dion and her third single, ‘Where Does My Heart Beat Now.’

Together the trio led a slew of memorable hits, including entries by fellow chart-topping divas Gloria Estefan and Madonna.  See who else joined the quintet in the top 25 this week 26 years ago:

This week in 1995 Queen of Pop, Madonna, reascended to the Billboard Hot 100 throne with ‘Take A Bow’ – the second single from her most R&B-leaning album to date, ‘Bedtime Stories.’  Written and produced by Madge and Babyface, ‘Bow’ – thanks in great part to its cinematic accompanying visual – rose to the top of the Hot 100 this week 22 years ago, snatching the title from TLC‘s ‘Creep.’

Coming as her last #1 of the 90s, the song went on to reign for an impressive 7 weeks and, to date, remains the longest running chart-topper of her career.  Tuck in below to see who joined Madge in the top 25 this week in 1995:

Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and Pink are just a few of the names that joined millions across the globe in solidarity for the Women’s March.

Purposefully timed to take place the day after Donald Trump‘s inauguration as US President, the rallies sought to celebrate womanhood and remind of the glaring inequalities that are still a reality. The latter being a core focus of the campaign given Trump’s sexually charged and degrading comments about women.

Beyond lending their name to the cause, the ladies rolled up their sleeves and took part.

Music lovers apparently have had Rihanna‘s latest release, ‘Love on the Brain,’ on their brains in a major way.

For, with little traditional promotional tied to the effort (the latest launched from her 2016 chart-topping album ‘Anti’), the scorching ballad has blasted to #20 on the wings of strong radio airplay and digital sales.

Extending her overall lead amongst her contemporary competitors, Brain’s boost gives the singer her 40th top 20 entry into the Billboard Hot 100 – a historic accomplishment only 5 other acts can boast.  Tuck in below to see the company Rih’s keeping on the legendary list and this week’s refreshed Hot 100:

As the “end of the year” lists continue to pour in, fan groups of music’s biggest artists are getting more and more amped up for the opportunity to add new feats to their lengthy lists of bragging rights.

The latest?  Instagram numbers.

That’s right, while ‘Good For You’ singer Selena Gomez made good on securing her role as the outlet’s most followed member (with 103 million followers as of time reported), IG was good to a number of other musical artists in 2016 including Ariana Grande, Rihanna, and Beyonce (all of whom released albums this year).

Tuck in to see who owes the social networking site the biggest “thank yous” in 2016:

2016 has been undoubtedly kind to Rihanna and Adele.

The pop megaforces, whose respective releases, ‘Anti’ and ’25,’ both topped the Billboard 200 this year and also birthed a Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper each, also earned multiple platinum plaques to add to their already ever-decorated walls.

But, even with hotly selling tours and all of the aforementioned added, it still appears Taylor Swift (who was comparably inactive this year) still managed to squeeze past them to make her way to the top of Forbes’ ‘Highest Paid Musician’ list.

The Gigi Hadid and Jay Pharaoh co-hosted ceremony had many-a-highlight thanks to jaw-dropping performances from the likes of Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, and many more, but the biggest star of the show – as expected – remained the awards themselves.

If rapper M.I.A. wanted to make sure she lived up to her namesake after her final album, released earlier this year, she has done it by infuriating not one, but two of the most dedicated fanbases in music – Beyonce‘s #Beyhive & Rihanna‘s #Navy.

Taking to ‘Q Magazine’ the Brit-bred femcee adds Queen of Pop and ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ co-star Madonna to the mix of her aim:

“I’m fine with Madonna or Beyonce or Rihanna being ‘inspired’ by my work, but I would like them to then go, ‘Yeah, this immigrant who came out of nowhere influenced us, so maybe not all of them are fucking terrible.”

She continued stating:

“They go, ‘Yeah, maybe me stealing the stuff says she’s all right. She should be thankful we’re stealing it. Beyonce comes from the school of Michael Jackson-ness. Where the family built an entire world to support you. From when you were a child. I never had that luxury.”

Needless to say, the backlash was so heavy it prompted the ‘Paper Planes’ rapstress to offer a clapback:
