Media mogul Diddy features on the cover of the latest issue of XXL Magazine. Not one to downplay his successes, the Bad Boy spearhead apparently sees himself as ‘the undisputed champion of Hip-Hop’:
“Hands down, undisputed, I’m the undisputed heavyweight champion of hip-hop. We are going to have to deal with those facts. There is nobody that can fuck with me with what I do, which is getting busy. We are going across the board, as an entrepreneur, innovator, motivator. Who was there first? Who traveled to Europe first? The first. The first. The first. The first. I was the first.” {Source}
Hmm. As much as Diddy’s achievements should be admired, a look at what’s become of his one-time flourishing Bad Boy roster highlights exactly why his success is in no-way as wholesome as he seems to believe. I mean his mishandling of the likes of Danity Kane, 112, Day 26, and pretty much every artist ever signed to the label, as well as his still-dumbfounding signing of Cassie, kinda stains what is otherwise a very admirable ascent to the top. In a nutshell, a great businessman? Yes. A great label head? Hell no.
In any case, do you agree with him?
