I kid not when I say I’d literally been wondering where the hell Ne-Yo’s follow-up to ‘Miss Independent’ was, when the clip for ‘Mad’ surfaced today. The Stargate produced cut serves as the third release from his well-received ‘Year of the Gentleman’ LP.

About the actual video, I’m liking it a lot. With most of Ne-Yo’s vids being more or less all-singing/all-dancing affairs, it was pretty cool seeing a more story-driven clip to accompany this song – which IMO on it’s own isn’t that great. Good stuff.

What do you think of the song / video?

Check out footage of Beyonce on the set of the video for her latest single ‘Diva’ this past week in Los Angeles. Looks like it’ll be an all ‘Sasha’ affair with this one.

Randomness: Is that a ladies foot in the boot of the car she’s blowing up? She’s a bad….LOL.

Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak' ReviewThis week sees the official release of Kanye West’s fourth studio album ‘808’s & Heartbreak’. Led by the ‘unconventional’ smash ‘Love Lockdown’, many seem to be giving the album, which West insists be classified in the ‘Pop’ section of iTunes, the thumbs up.

That said, we, here at That Grape Juice, want to know what you think of the album…whether you’ll be buying or not.

Britney Covers Rolling Stone Peep a much more happy and healthier looking Britney Spears on the cover of the latest issue of the famed Rolling Stone magazine. It’s great to see her doing her thing again.
Speaking of which, Britney is heading over to our side of the pond (Europe) this week for a series of promotional stops, the first being Wednesday night’s Bambi Awards in Germany, in which she will give her first public performance since that infamous MTV VMA 2007 disaster of a performance. Here’s hoping she delivers…

R&B crooner R. Kelly’s unique spin on Beyonce’s ‘If I Were A Boy’ surfaced a few hours and already has tongues wagging. Though it’s a bit of a cut and paste job on the production front, it’s still pretty engaging lyrically.

Hit or Miss?

It’s been more than 2 years since the release of LeToya Luckett’s Platinum certified debut solo effort. Though the LP’s follow-up had been slated for a 2008 release, label mergers etc caused for the album to be delayed until next year (word has it March 2009). In the meanwhile, snippets of two tracks believed to be for the album have surfaced in the form of ‘Don’t Need You’ and ‘Lazy’ – both of which you can listen to below:
Don’t Need You

Lazy

I must say, I’m impressed. Yes, neither are ground-breaking, however I’m really feeling the more ‘R&B/Pop’ (Cross-over) sound they both have. I’ve always seen LeToya as having a lot of cross-over appeal, so I’m hopeful this is the route she embarks on with her sophomore LP.

Hit(s) or Miss(es)?
Chris Brown Talks New Album; Eyes Madonna CollaboAfter the worldwide success of Chris Brown’s sophomore LP ‘Exclusive’, the 19 year old star is prepping his third tentatively titled ‘Graffiti’ for next year. Speaking to the Associated Press, the ‘Forever’ singer expressed his desire to work with a few unexpected artists on the project:

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Chris Brown wants Madonna on his next album.

The 19-year-old crooner says the Material Girl would be his dream duet for a track on his upcoming CD “Graffiti,” which is due out next year. He says he’d also love to work with Coldplay. He’s collaborated with Jordin Sparks, David Banner and girlfriend Rihanna in the past.

Brown predicts that “Graffiti” will be a bigger project for him. Speaking from the red carpet at the American Music Awards, the platinum-selling R&B star said: “It’s going to be my stepping stone from Chris Brown to superstar.”

More power to him. With his undeniable success this past year, Chris really has established self as a force in the industry. It’ll be interesting to see what he’ll deliver third go round – especially with the likes of Madonna and Coldplay being touted as possible features.

Jamie Foxx 'Intuition' Cover Check out the official album cover for Jamie Foxx’s brand new album ‘Intuition’. The set, which drops December 16th via J Records, boasts production/writing credits from the likes of Timbaland, Tricky Stewart, The Dream, Sean Garrett and more.
I keep saying it, but I’m really hoping this one is better than his last effort, 2005’s ‘Unpredictable’ – which IMO was crap save for a few songs.

Beyonce Shoots 'Diva' VideoAfter taking a brief moment to do a bit of site maintenance, we are back to business! Beyonce shot the video for the hotter than hot ‘Diva’ over the weekend in Downtown, Los Angeles. The video looks like it’ll be a winner. She also shot the clip for ‘Halo’ – the other single of her new dual release – over the weekend also.

In other Bouncy news, reports are suggesting she will debut on the Billboard 200 album chart at #1 with over 500,000 copies sold of ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’ first week – effectively debuting at Gold selling status first week. More power to her.

X Factor 2008: Live Shows - Week 6The seventh week of X Factor 2008 live shows aired last night here in the UK. Check out my 2 Pence on the Take That themed week below:

{For those unfamiliar with the show; The X Factor is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. The show also birthed the career of a certain Leona Lewis}
With the final rapidly approaching, the competition is becoming pretty intense, with there sure to be some surprising departures over the next few weeks. I wasn’t too keen on the theme this week and the performances on a whole kinda left me underwhelmed. That said, Alexandra (who had vocal issues during the week), turned in a good performance considering, with Rachel also doing an awesome job on her bottom-2 performance. Check out their showings below:

Alexandra Burke – Relight My Fire

Rachel Hylton – And I Am Telling You

It’s a shame Rachel ended up leaving, as this was hands down her best performance yet – a little rough around the edges but still an awesome job all the same.

Though Alexandra wasn’t as great as usual, the judges were right in saying she needs to be in the final. Hell, she needs to win the whole thing! There are many a void I can see her filling. With such a great talent, she has a bright future ahead of her thanks to the show.
