Mariah Carey stopped by Good Morning America yesterday to talk about her marriage to Nick Cannon, her wedding ring, her new fragrance Lucious Pink as well as her other projects.
Randomness: is it me or was Mariah supposed to be touring with ‘E=MC²’? I’m personally hoping she’s sitting this one out – those live performances this year were down right terrible most of the time. It would be sad to see her putting what’s left of her voice through the strenuous tour process. Maybe with the next album…
According to our friends over at Rap-Up.com, R&B songstress Brandy has once again joined forces with hit-maker Timbaland for her forthcoming LP ‘Human’ (due December 9th). The pair recorded tracks for the album at the top of the month. This marks the first time both have worked together since 2004’s ‘Afrodisiac’
Timbo’s work on ‘Afrodisiac’- which still stands as one of my favourite R&B albums of recent-ish times – has me really amped to see what they come up with this go round.
Check out these new promotional shots for Christina Aguilera’s upcoming greatest hits compliation – ‘Keeps Gettin’ Better – A Decade Of Hits’.
These striking pics look great. I’m just hopeful that ‘Ms. Dirrty’ finds her mojo again, as her current single ‘Keeps Gettin’ Better’ just isn’t cutting it IMO.
The video for Michelle Williams 2nd single from her ‘Unexpected’ LP ‘The Greatest’ premiered just a few hours ago on Yahoo Music. As a fan of the song, it’s great to see the video turn out well. Simple, yet effective, the concept clip shows Michelle in her best light solo thus far – she looks stunning.
As announced last week, That Grape Juice will be interviewing recently ousted Danity Kane member D. Woods this week. You can submit questions for her at the link below. Thanks!
UK vixen Alesha Dixon performed her ‘comeback’ single ‘The Boy Does Nothing’ this past Saturday on Strictly Come Dancing – the very show that re-launched her career this time last year. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by Alesha’s showing; vocally she was on-point, while still managing to work the stage (as the song’s high-octane sound calls for). Great performance.
With the industry abuzz about what Beyonce is set to serve up November 18th – the day her ‘I Am…’ LP hits stores, the songstress continues her promotional blitz, this time featuring in the latest issue of InStyle magazine. Check out her pics from the shot below:
With UK trio the Sugababes latest LP ‘Catfights & Spotlights’ hitting stores tomorrow, it has been confirmed that ‘No Can Do’ will serve as the second single from the record. The Motown/Old Skool inspired track is, put simply, Pop brilliance. Top notch offering from the ladies – which is more than can be said for its predecessor ‘Girls’.
Check out the Keisha, Heidi and Amelle performance of the song on T4 earlier today:
The second week of X Factor 2008 live shows aired last night here in the UK. Check out my 2 Pence on the Michael Jackson themed week below:
{For those unfamiliar with the show; The X Factor is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. The show also birthed the career of a certain Leona Lewis}
Despite this week featuring songs from the great Michael Jackson, I felt it wasn’t as good as last week’s ‘live show’ debut; the song selections, collectively, were too ballad-heavy. That said, judge Cheryl Cole’s category (the girls) offered the best showings last night IMO. Check out performances by out Alexandra, Laura White and Diana Vickers below:
Alexandra Burke – I’ll Be There
Laura White – You Are Not Alone
Diana Vickers – Man In The Mirror
Though Diana really caught my attention this week and Laura continues to perform well, I’m still rooting for Alexandra. My current mindset (forewarning…this may sound a little OTT) is that Leona is the British-honed ‘new’ Mariah while Alexandra is similar to Whitney (in that guise).
R&B star Chris Brown made an appearance on French TV show ‘Star Academy’ this week. The 19 year old performed his hit ‘Kiss Kiss’ with a contestant on the show (who I must say had me rolling with his attempts at being ‘cool’). All in all, a pretty entertaining performance.
Yes, this is not your typical TGJ post, but I really couldn’t resist. This hilarious clip has been making the rounds on the net for a week or so. I am still in hysterics over this one – I won’t spoil it. Drop your views in the comments section!
With all the drama surrounding Bad Boy collective Danity Kane, I’m sure many of you want to know what exactly led to the ousting of core members D. Woods and Aubrey O’ Day, as well as what their future holds.
So, with that, I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know that That Grape Juice Juice will be interviewing D. Woods at the top of next week. She has stated that she will be setting the record straight on everything.
Please drop any questions you have for her in the comments section below. As usual, only legit questions will be considered. Thanks guys!
