Janet Resumes Tour; Update On Contest Soon Following the postponement of 9 tour-stops on her ‘Rock Witchu’ trek due to a still unconfirmed illness, Pop superstar Janet Jackson has released a statement to her fans confirming that the tour resumes – today in Washington, DC:

“I know you guys have been hearing a lotta, lotta rumors… [that] the tour’s been canceled. None of that’s true. I’m actually rolling into D.C. right now to do my first show coming back. I feel a lot better and I want to thank all of you. I really do appreciate the love and the support. And once again, don’t believe anything that you hear and you read. The tour is still on.” {Source}

Great to know Janet will be getting back to thrilling audiences in the States. Ms. Jackson (“if ya nasty!”) needs to hit these side of the shores ASAP, we miss her!

With the tour back on the road, I’ll be updating you on the status of our ‘That Grape Juice Wants to Rock Witchu’ ticket give-away – which has inevitably been affected by the postponements.

*Apologies about the slowish updates. As you know, That Grape Juice were onsite and backstage at the 2008 MOBO Awards. Some interesting updates coming up in a bit!*

That Grape Juice At MOBO Awards

That Grape Juice will be operating live on site from the eargerly anticipated MOBO Awards 2008 here in London’s Wembley Arena this evening.

Do be sure to keep it locked on here, though, as there’ll likely still be updates through the day.

50 Cent’s forthcoming LP ‘Before I Self Destruct’ is set to also serve as the soundtrack to his latest movie of the same name. Check out the trailer above as well as a more detailed synopsis of the project below:

Before I Self Destruct is darker and harder than last year’s Curtis. 50 Cent wrote much of the album while he, as Curtis Jackson, was also penning the 90-minute film of the same name that would be his directorial debut.

The film Before I Self Destruct is a coming of age story about an inner city youth raised by a hardworking single mother. When his dream of becoming a basketball player fails to materialize, he finds himself employed in a supermarket. After his mother is tragically gunned down, Clarence (played by Jackson) is consumed by revenge and takes up a life of crime in order to support his younger brother.

“My film captures the harsh realities that reflect so many communities today. There will be some who will greatly identify with the characters and the situations presented and then there will be others who may be shocked at the struggles that go on in the inner city,” states 50 Cent. “I made the film for both groups.”

As much as I feel 50’s time was officially up after he lost out to Kanye last year, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in the film. The plot, though done over many a time, sounds pretty interesting.

The album hits stores December 9th, with the movie due in theatres 4th quarter too.

Will you be checking for ‘Before I Self Destruct’?

In a recent interview with Power 106 radio station, Ne-Yo spilled the beans on Chris Brown’s ‘lacking’ hygiene, Yung Berh, as well as shedding light on the age he lost his virginity. An interesting listen, I must say.

The latest single to be lifted from T-Pain’s ‘Thr33 Ringz’ LP, the Ludacris assisted ‘Chopped N’ Screwed’ premiered recently. I’m kinda indifferent when it comes to T-Pain, so…

Who Is Sasha Fierce?There has been mounting speculation surrounding the seemingly sudden appearance of a website and MySpace page of a Sasha Fierce (www.whoissashafierce.com and www.myspace.com/sashafierce respectively). Both sites are running competitions and selling ‘Who Is Sasha Fierce’ merchandise (yes, merchandise!)
Interestingly enough, the pages, which visually bare a striking resemblance to a certain Bootylicious singer’s new logo, were created back in July – yet seem to only have been ‘picked up’ this past weekend (surprise, surprise LOL). What’s more the same 27 year singer’s LP – due in November – has gone from being listed as a Deluxe CD to a double disc. Anyone smell a 2 disc concept album. I guess we’ll know soon enough.

Dawn Talks Danity Kane Drama In a recent internet radio interview with VIP Pass, Dawn of drama-fied Danity Kane addressed what exactly is going on with the group – which judging by this interview, even she knows little about. Without pre-empting the whole interview, it seems she is nonethewiser about the future of the group and is set to find out on the much hyped finale of Making The Band 4.
The jury is still out on whether this is a publicity stunt…

The second video of Beyonce’s dual release, ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)’ premiered today on MTV. As with the ‘If I Were A Boy’ clip, this video was directed by Jake Nava. About it, I must say, as a performance piece (which it is in its entirety), the video really is something. The high octane choreography drives home the fact that there are few that can do what Ms. Knowles does when doing her. That said, it wouldn’t have hurt to see something a little more visually stimulating than just the same background and set-up. Still, that doesn’t take away from what is, no doubt, a great video.

X Factor 2008: Live Show - Week 1The first week of X Factor 2008 live shows started last night here in the UK. Check out my 2 Pence below:

{For those unfamiliar with the show; The X Factor is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. The show also birthed the career of a certain Leona Lewis}
With the anticipated theatrics of the audition stage being over, the real work starts with the live shows. Now under the watchful eyes of millions, we’ll begin to see who are feasible stars and who can simply carry a note. As for last night’s show, it’s becoming increasingly obvious that both Alexandra Burke and Laura White are leading the pack – by a mile. Check out their performances on last night’s live show below:

Alexandra Burke – I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Laura White – Fallin’

Here’s hoping these two last the distance.

Originally set to premiere this coming Monday, Beyonce’s new video for ‘If I Were A Boy’ debuted on Yahoo Music a few hours ago. After hearing the song and piecing together the set pics from a while back, I was left scratching my head as to how they’d match up visually on screen. However after watching the Jake Nava directed video, I am pleasantly surprised. The black and white ‘concept’ video really brings the song to life in a way I hadn’t thought possible. I can really see where Ms. Knowles is going with this one. One of her best videos yet IMO. Absolutely fantastic.
