Despite the horrendous ticket sales and several canceled shows of her ‘Last Girl On Earth’ tour, Rihanna’s team made sure that she made a profit. The vocal joke (seen in a new promotional image above) reportedly earned a standard rate of $410k per show regardless of box office sales and 80% of all earnings exceeding $565k. These figures mean that Rihanna earns over $100k and $250k more than Justin Bieber and Drake respectively. {Source}

Clearly Rihanna is able to command such a payout because most of her shows receive substantial sponsorship as part of her many lucrative endorsements, thus the cost of those events are generally covered in advance.  Furthermore, her label undoubtedly takes the remainder of the revenue as part of their possible 360 deal where they are entitled to part of all revenue generated from her record sales and concert box office profits.

Still, after the failure of her ‘Last Girl On Earth’ tour in the US, Rihanna’s contract will almost certainly be renegotiated to entail a considerably smaller payout. I highly doubt that her camp will take such changes lightly, however, because we all know that because of the little creative input adds to her music, she does not make a large sum of money from royalty payments (if she gets any at all) and her main source of income comes from concerts and endorsement deals.

Sidebar: Rihanna makes all that money yet she can’t hire a proper vocal coach or learn how to dance. I guess her investments in high fashion and hair colouring is more important to her. I’m judging you Rihanna.

It’s little wonder why Christina Aguilera has dropped ‘Bionic’ like a rock. Besides the album’s appalling sales, it has been revealed that the singer takes centre-stage on the soundtrack for her new movie ‘Burlesque’. Though pretty much a given, considering the 29 year old’s starring role in the film, the set’s soundtrack is shaping up to be an all-Aguilera affair.

Many of your will remember Tahj Mowry from the hit show ‘Smart Guy’, or as the younger brother of twins Tia and Tamera (of ‘Sister Sister’ fame).

The young actor appears to be making a foray into music, recently posting his cover of John Legend‘s ‘Ordinary People’ on Youtube.

While we’re all for following one’s dreams, we’re also advocates for singing songs in your range; Mowry’s showing being a case, point, example of doing the complete opposite.

The 24 year old definitely has an interesting tone, one which would likely benefit from him tackling more Pop-orientated songs. For, as his showing here underscored – you simply can’t fake soul or passion in your vocal delivery. You either have it or you don’t, the latter being the case for the aspiring singer.

In any case…

Forbes has released its annual tally of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women and both Beyonce and Lady GaGa have managed to crack the top 10. Beyonce, who is credited with sales exceeding 118 million records (obviously including those achieved with Destiny’s Child), 16 Grammy Awards and several high profile endorsement deals, landed at #9 on the prestigious list. However, the R&B singer was out-paced by GaGa who was positioned two spots higher at #7.

The 24 year old GaGa is heralded as the new Queen of Pop for the massive success of her ‘Monsters Ball’ tour which is expected generated a minimum $200 million in revenue by its April 2011 completion. Despite Beyonce’s larger personal earnings in the last year ($87 million to be exact), GaGa is celebrated by Forbes who suggest that she “single-handedly reinvigorated pop music and pop culture”.
