CBS has its eye on Justin Bieber creator Scooter Braun as it seeks to extend its reach in TV’s realm.

The network is developing a singing competition series with help from Braun as they seek to compete with ABC and NBC which house ‘American Idol’ and ‘The Voice’ respectively and extend its relationship with him following the birth of their scripted baby ‘Scorpion.’

Details on the project are still emerging so keep it locked on TGJ for updates for what may be a very exciting music industry moment.

How so? Braun’s success with the Biebs will undoubtedly add a level of credibility to a series seeking to find or forge the next generation of superstars.

Madame C.J. Walker‘s life is to be brought to life once again thanks to an unexpected collaboration between the Oscar winner Octavia Spencer and Lebron James.

Netflix are said to be eager to pick up the show which will see James and Spencer stand as producers and the latter play Walker herself with the full backing of Lebron’s Spring Hill Entertainment.

He shared…

I am really proud of this project and that SpringHill will be partnering with Octavia to tell this important story. Every American should all know the story of Madam C.J. Walker. She was an innovator, entrepreneur, social activist, and total game changer whose story has been left out of the history books. I hope this project lives up to her legacy with a story that will educate and inspire.

Hideous might be one word to describe Jeffree Star.

Rising to fame as a YouTube personality/make-up guru, the entertainer’s short-lived career now finds itself spinning into a social media shredder following racist remarks he made about black women.

Jumping to his defence when her fans bashed her for backing him? Kim Kardashian.

In today’s climate, stars are tasked with being multi-hyphenate and making their mark in a multitude of arenas.

This a memo singer/actor Rotimi is well-acquainted with.

Currently receiving praise aplenty for his role of Dre in STARZ smash ‘Power,’ the 28-year-old also counts singer amongst his many talents.

He recently released an EP christened ‘Jeep Music Vol. 1,’ which we caught up with him to speak about. We also quizzed him on ‘Power,’ his Nigerian upbringing, being signed to 50 Cent, Beyonce, Rihanna, and a whole lot more.

Attorney Lisa Bloom is clapping back at “fat shamers” who immediately dismissed Quantasia Sharpton‘s claim Usher exposed her to herpes simply because of her size.

In an interview with Billboard recently, Bloom – the lawyer representing a number of people who allege the R&B singer exposed them to the incurable disease – directly responded to detractors who have not only dismissed his most famous accuser (Sharpton) for her appearance, but also because she was not actually infected.

Asserting the reason her law firm even chose to represent Sharpton and others is because they actually have proof to corroborate their claims, Bloom was very open about her intent for the Grammy winner and even dropped some bombshells along the way.

Responding to word Ush was planning a counter suit and more, click below to read highlights from the interview below (in case you missed it):

Brandy‘s career may have stalled and been stifled by poorly executed moves in recent years, but that’s done all of nothing to shake her status as one of Pop’s greatest success stories.

Leading the way for the likes of then-teenagers Beyonce and Britney Spears in the 90s, the vocalist’s unmatched success on stage and screen during the period saw her harvest a fan base which has unknowingly turned her into a streaming magnet as her ability to pick up pure sales falters.

It’s been a rocky road for Kesha, but it appears there really is a pot of gold at the end of her ‘Rainbow.’

The singer had been locked in litigation for years with one of music’s most notable producers. And given the nature of her accusations (see: sexual misconduct) and the stakes involved, her career ground to an abrupt halt. A state it remained in for several years.

With the worst seemingly behind her (despite crushing blows in the courtroom), she this week released her third album – a record that is now poised to top the Billboard 200.

What are its numbers looking like? Join us below to find out…

Granted, Brandy‘s been striking out with Monica fans since calling them ‘pigeons’ and ‘evil,’ but something else the beauty’s been striking are some seriously fierce poses aboard the English fashion magazine, ‘Schon.’

With her signature braided locks, B-rocka rocked the pages of the mag with an earthy, regal-inspired shoot snapped in the desert under the creative helm of the famed Michael Mann with photography by Ben Duggan. Beyond the shots, the Grammy-winner dished on the creative process behind the formation of her 7th studio album, return to the role of ‘Roxie Hart’ on the hit Broadway play, ‘Chicago,’ and so much more.

Katy Perry is on a roll!

Riding high towards major TV looks via this month’s VMAs and ABC‘s ‘American Idol’ reboot, the Pop princess now continues on her quest to Grammy-approved credibility with a new look, attitude and direction.

Celebrating those changes with her? W magazine.

On touring:

I feel both very overwhelmed and loved when I’m on tour. People take the time, energy, and money to come see me. That connection is such a beautiful thing. It’s so amazing to see everyone let their guard down and sing one of my songs from the bottom of their lungs—they’ll let go for a second. That’s a brave thing: We just don’t let go anymore.

On movies:

I really love being the captain of my ship. If I were to do a film, I’d probably have to direct it. I’d love to do a musical! But that will come in time.

On creating her new album ‘Witness‘:

In the past I used a tape recorder, and now I just use my phone. My Notes section is a hodgepodge of all kinds of crazy ideas. And I have an old-fashioned memo notebook—not one of those leather-bound things with a Montblanc pen! Just an old-fashioned black and white composition book, filled with scraps of songs.
