Talk about a slam dunk!

Self-proclaimed Queen of Rap Nicki Minaj took to a different kind of court to show off her latest array of hits – the basketball court.  Delivering a medley set similar to her Billboard Music Awards showing this year, Minaj kicked off her performance with a showing of ‘Realize’ with 2 Chainz.

Next, the Harajuku Barbie strutted into ‘No Frauds,’ pop singer Katy Perry‘s ‘Swish Swish,’ and more.  See it below if you missed any of the show-stopping action:

Caitlyn Jenner is under fresh fire this week.

After coming face to face with criticism at a dinner party thrown by Katy Perry, the former athlete and Trans superstar has learned that Janet Mock is unimpressed by her.

Why?

Mock, who is also transexual, feels Jenner’s experiences (rooted in power and privilege) make her a poor representative for the community.

Her estimation of the former Kardashian clan leader below…

I’m not Caitlyn’s publicist, I’m sure she has a whole team on that mountain in Malibu protecting her. But most of my community isn’t protected in that way. So I find it really problematic that they say ‘trans activist or advocate Caitlyn Jenner.’ No, it’s Caitlyn Jenner, who’s a very specific person with a specific set of experiences that are very monied, very white, very privileged. She can say [those things] on behalf of herself, but I don’t think on behalf of the community.

Do you agree?

Naturi Naughton may be heavily pregnant, but she’s pushing ahead with promotion for the hotly anticipated new season of ‘Power.’

The actress, who plays Tasha on the hit STARZ series, stopped by Hot 97 to discuss the show and a whole lot more.

One of the most notable topics covered was the headline-grabbing apology she received from Adrienne Bailon – her former 3LW bandmate.

Historically, Naughton has been candid about the trying times that were her final days in the group; a journey that culminated, she says, in a KFC two-piece meal being thrown in her face by Kiely Williams.

Taking account for her role in the group’s various dramas, Bailon publicly attempted to mend fences.

Watch below as Naughton opens up about her true feelings on the matter, the mess their former manager tried to start after, and a whole lot more…

Great interview.

The term “real” is criminally overused, but that’s exactly what Naturi comes across as – real.

She’s obviously beyond the BS at this point and is winning at life right now after so much adversity. So more power to her.

Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, just as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’ allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

This week we’ll press play on Toni Braxton‘s ‘You Mean the World to Me,’ the fourth single from her multiplatinum self-titled debut album.  Launched after the critically acclaimed ‘Seven Whole Days,’ ‘World’ went on to peak at #7 (where it was found this week in 1994) and granted the album its third consecutive top 10 hit (among its releases eligible to chart) and Braxton’s third overall.

Spending most of 1994 in the Hot 100, the tune was eventually certified Gold.  And, thanks to Braxton’s enduring legacy in the R&B realm, the song remains a fan favorite and must hear at any of her concerts.

Tuck in below to see what other familiar faces joined the contralto diva in the top 25 this week in 1994:

Candidness is encouraged in today’s day and age. However, it can also cause chaos – just ask Halsey.

The newcomer rose to prominence on The Chainsmokers smash ‘Closer’ and hit #1 recently with her album ‘Hopeless Fountain Kingdom.’

During a promo interview with The Guardian (who also secured “that” controversial Tinashe feature), the singer made notable comments about Migos star Quavo (who features on her LP).

Having caught flack for his homophobic comments, Halsey (who is bisexual herself) took up for him and defended his intent. She said:

“I think he’s misunderstood. Just because I choose to be a socially conscious artist, and I’m pretty good at it, that doesn’t mean every artist is going to be equipped to be politically correct. I don’t think he’s inherently homophobic, I think he’s in a tough place of trying to explain what he means. I agree his apology was bullshit but I can’t police everybody.”

When the interviewer suggests that her album is one space she can police, the biracial 22-year-old  used her response to take an unexpected jab at Iggy Azalea:

“Yes, I can. and there’s a lot of people I wouldn’t put on my record. Iggy Azalea: absolutely not. She had a complete disregard for black culture. Fucking moron. I watched her career dissolve and it fascinated me.”

As her words begun doing the rounds, it became clear that folk were not here for either of her comments. So much so that #HalseyIsCancelled begun to trend on Twitter.

Responding to the backlash, she took to Twitter to say…

She was oddly unapologetic in regards to Iggy, tweeting and subsequently deleting the following…

“The quavo comments taken out of an off record convo about music industry homophobia. NOT a defense. Don’t regret the Iggy comments sorry.”

Who put salt in her cereal?

Dragging Iggy is the definition of tired at this point and while she’s entitled to her views, they kinda feel catty for catty sake if she can’t be bothered to elaborate on why.

As for Migos, she’d have been better off manoeuvring away from the topic rather than that sloppy rationale.

Needless to say, someone clearly needs to sign up for Media Training 101.

As fans get their eyes and ears ready to find out the fate of James St. Patrick (“Ghost”) on the 4th season premiere of ‘Power’ on Sunday, June 25th, viewers of STARZ’ flagship series were dealt a crushing blow when the show’s producer, rapper 50 Cent, revealed exactly when the series will end.

“I was telling [executives] in the very beginning, when they talked about how long do you think the series is going to last, I said seven,” 50, real name Curtis Jackson, told ABC News. “It’s going to go seven.”

Video may not be viewable in all countries

At least we can take comfort in knowing the show has at least 3 more full seasons of plot twists and OMG-worthy cliffhangers before we bid it adieu.

Remy Ma is determined to support women and families who have lost children to miscarriages.

Set to attend this year’s BET Awards, the rapper has announced plans to launch a charitable organisation designed to cover medical expenses for victims after she and her husband Papoose lost a child in the same way.

I was distraught, I was embarrassed, I was ashamed. I felt less than a woman and [the doctor] assured me that was no way to feel and that for a certain amount of thousands of dollars, it can be fixed. And because I have the finances, I never even thought twice about it. I was like, ‘Alright, how many thousand? Okay, no problem We’ll start doing it right now.’

It wasn’t until I publicly spoke about it that I realized how many women are in the same predicament as me where they actually can have children, they just need an assist from, you know, medical procedures and they can’t because they are not financially stable enough to do it. I think the percentage is actually 80 percent of women who can’t have children. It’s not because they can’t physically have children. It’s because they can’t afford to physically have children. It was just weird to me that if you wanted to terminate a pregnancy, you could use your health insurance. However, if you wanted to conceive, health insurance didn’t cover that. So I’m looking at all of these politicians that claim that they’re pro-life and they want to eradicate women having the choice to terminate their pregnancies, but if you’re pro-life, why would you not set up something so women who can conceive and women who want to be mothers and women who want to have children can do so? So that’s something that since I heard about and since I found out the details about it that I have been so passionate about and adamant about. I’m trying to start my own fund so that women who are like me or have similar situations to me but they can’t afford it, they can possibly get these procedures done and have children.

2 Chainz’ latest album, ‘Pretty Girls Like Trap Music’ (released June 16), is off to a very solid start on album charts and, if the impressive streaming figure predicted to accompany his sales are any indication, pretty girls are not the only ones feeling what he’s delivering.

Set to hit Billboard charts next week with approximately 78,000 sold its first week, the project – which features the likes of Nicki Minaj, Trey Songz, Migos, Jhene Aiko, and more – is gunning for the top spot on Billboard’s Rap charts (#2 on the Billboard 200).

To ensure the placement, Chainz has unlocked yet another video.  This time, tapping Joe Moore to direct, the self-proclaimed “Drench God” heads to Dubai for ‘Sleep When U Die’ to boast about his wealth, wardrobe, and all the other things that really matter in life.

Keyshia Cole has seasoned history with reality TV and is adding a new chapter by starring in the upcoming season of ‘Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood.’

Set for a July 23rd premiere, this cycle of the show – which also stars Brooke Valentine – will see the R&B belle juggling the personal and the professional:

Peep Cole’s official synopsis:

Keyshia prepares for the release of her highly anticipated new album while juggling her co-parenting relationship with ex-NBA star Daniel “Booby” Gibson. Though she may be new to the cast she is definitely already a staple in the industry. Will she able to find the right balance between her music and her personal life?

Here’s her intro…

The ‘Heaven Sent’ singer will be appearing alongside a slew of returning names including Ray J, Princess Love, Teairra Mari, Safaree, Moniece Slaughter, and Miss  Nikki Baby.

Some may scoff at Keyshia, but what’s to lose?

It’s a new day and age and with upcoming album ’11:11 Reset’ to plug, a million plus viewers on VH1 every Monday sounds like a powerful platform. As long as she’s not shaking tables or pulling wigs. Although, that has oddly worked for some in the past. Who knows.

In any case…
