Members of the LGBT community refused to attend a Pride event over the weekend after learning it was to welcome a drag act named Beeyonce to its stage.

Why?

R&B crooner Tank has long been vocal about his support of the LGBT community over the years, a stance reiterated by his recent performance at Washington D.C.’s gay pride event this weekend.

Drawing a sizable crowd, the shirtless singer/songwriter was on hand to croon some of his greatest hits – much to the delight of male and female attendees.  Yet, while those in attendance took to Twitter to shower the ‘Please Don’t Go’ performer with praise, some of his longtime fans weren’t exactly pleased with his decision to perform for a gay audience.

Inciting quite the debate on social media, look below for some of the fiery comments and weigh in:

For much of his career Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has led many a movie to box office glory.

So, movie lovers who awaited the release of his ‘Baywatch’ reboot wouldn’t have been wrong to assume he would do the same for the project which hit theatres via Paramount this week.

Unfortunately, they’ve now learned that they were wrong following wave after wave of bad reviews and talk that is set to do anything but create a splash at the box office.

Said talk hasn’t gone unnoticed by Dwayne.

How the herculean actor is taking the news?

Well…

‘Bay’ was built of a budget of $69 million and has swept up $10 million so far.

That number is expected to rise to $30 million by the end of the weekend but will fail to live up to commercial expectations even if it does so.

What a shame to take this charming cast and maroon them in a morass of stale jokes and sub-sitcom-level plot twists in a remake that reads as a missed opportunity.

Will reviews like the one above threaten to disturb its progress globally?

Weigh in below…

Footage of Tyra Banks‘ alleged assault of a young girl will not air on ‘America’s Got Talent’.

Earlier this week, the philanthropic mogul learned that the series was being sued by a couple who claimed that she mocked, degraded and used physical force to humiliate their daughter following their audition.

Fans of the show’s new season had hoped that footage of the potentially bogus attack would air on television to reveal what really happened.

Alas, it won’t.

The New York Daily News reports:

The NBC show will not air a segment featuring a couple who sued the show on Tuesday, alleging that host Tyra Banks humiliated their daughter while taping.

The couple, who allegedly wrote a song boasting about their daughter for “AGT,” claimed Banks made fun of it, and insinuated the girl was conceived by accident. It was ultimately dismissed on Thursday.

“We take great care of all acts that cross the ‘AGT’ stage and their families,” AGT’s parent company, Fremantle Media, said in a statement to the Daily News. “Tyra has been an incredible addition to ‘AGT’ with her vibrant energy and maternal nurturing spirit, and we look forward to continuing to watch her positive influence on the show.”

Why do you think AGT made this decision?

Less than two months after what many believed was the highly anticipated return of Netflix’s cult hit, ‘The Get Down,’ the show’s been given the axe by the streaming giant.

Katy Perry seems to have lost a friend in the Hip-Hop firestorm that is Migos.

Why we think this is the case? She unfollowed them on Instagram.

Hours after they performed their collaborative cut ‘Bon Appetit’ on ‘Saturday Night Live‘, the acts were rocked by critics who slammed Katy for agreeing to pull drag queens out of the performance after learning the group did not want to perform alongside them.

Shortly after battling a tsunami of insults thrown at her by members of the LGBT community online, the fun-loving Pop star unfollowed the ‘Versace‘-sporting group on Instagram.

Their respective fan bases then realised that Migos had returned the favour by unfollowing Katy.

As it stands there is still no proof that the rappers had the drag acts booted from the performance.

Usher‘s fortune has reached astronomical new heights this week.

For, thanks to dollars, pounds and pesos pulled in by his hit-kissed discography, the part he played in introducing Justin Bieber to the world, and his success within several realms in entertainment, the trendsetting star’s net worth now stands tall at the $180 million mark.

By definition, one’s net worth is  “the value of all the non-financial and financial assets owned by an institutional unit or sector minus the value of all its outstanding liabilities.”

Put simply? Usher has $180 million to his name.

A large portion of this fortune was generated by the 65 million records the 38-year-old performer has sold worldwide as well as the cash he collects as part owner of the Cleveland Cavailiers.

How much he and a group of well heeled investors paid to pick up their shares in the team in 2005?

$375 million.

Why do you think Usher is such a high-earner?

Weigh in below!

Who run the world? Girls!

As the charts and tour tallies highlight, females remain a formidable force in the music industry.

Forbes highlights the lofty levels noted names have ascended to with their newly released list of Wealthiest Female Musicians Of 2017.

Head below to find out where your fave ranks…

1. Madonna ($580 million)

Her Rebel Heart tour, which ended in March 2016, grossed $170 million. She also cashes in on clothing and perfume. A savvy spender, Madonna has scooped up New York real estate and fine art–reportedly including works by Picasso and Man Ray–as well as a stake in Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service.

2. Celine Dion ($400 million)

Last February, Dion resumed a Las Vegas residency that had been on hiatus for a month after her husband’s death. She’s back to playing 70-odd times a year at Caesar’s Palace, where she made $27 million in 2016; a Canada native, she’s earned most of her money in Sin City, hence her inclusion here.

3. Barbra Streisand ($390 million)

Her $46 million gross for 14 shows last year added to a career tour tally in the hundreds of millions. Streisand has also been shrewd with that haul, particularly with her real estate investments: sources believe her Malibu compound, reportedly purchased for under $20 million, could be worth close to $100 million.

4. Beyoncé ($350 million)

Last year’s Lemonade was her sixth solo No. 1 album—and spawned the Formation World Tour, which grossed a quarter of a billion dollars. Expecting twins with her husband, Jay Z, Beyoncé is taking a break from the stage, but has still taken time to voice support for causes like Black Lives Matter.

5. Taylor Swift ($280 million)

The success of her 1989 tour, which smashed North American touring records en route to a quarter-billion-dollar gross in 2015, established Swift as one of the world’s top entertainers. Even when she has a quiet year, as she did in 2016, she continues to earn from music, endorsements and merchandise.

We’re quite surprised at the omission of a certain Ms. Fenty, though. Things that make you go hmm.

As far as social media groups go, Black Twitter undoubtedly stands as one of net’s (and Pop culture’s) longest and strongest reigning force.

How one might define it?

A digital water cooler where African Americans exchange ideas and opinions that are centered on the Black experience.

Often sourced, but never compensated, for the ideas it generates for brands and publications, Black Twitter and its influence haven’t gone unnoticed by Twitter itself who- eager to understand just how influential it truly is- has teamed up with BET to launch a comprehensive study into it.

The businesses will unveil their findings next month.

Why do you think corporations are keen to bite into Black Twitter’s digital pie?
