After a few hiccups, it appears things are back on track with Fantasia‘s new album. Now set for release in June, the LP will be preceded by first official single ‘Bittersweet’ – which surfaced a few moments ago.
An Old School inspired mid-tempo, this one really creates a worthy backdrop for the richness of Fantasia’s voice to take centre stage. As a first single, however, it could could go either way for the American Idol alum; many (myself included) expressed such concerns when Fanny’s label mate Monica released ‘Everything to Me’ – and we all know what happened there. So, here’s hoping Fantasia’s situation echoes that – as I’m sure her label are hoping (I say this, as it first looked as if they opted for a more Pop route with ‘Even Angels’, only to return with a bonafide R&B cut).
Tidbit: As previously reported, Fantasia’s VH1 reality show, ‘Fantasia For Real’, has been renewed for another season.
R&B star Ciara posed it up on the red carpet at the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style Issue party last night, which took place in Hollywood at the W Hollywood Hotel last night. She looks stunning!
R&B star LeToya recently shot an ‘Alter Ego’ photo-shoot with noted photographer Derek Blanks. Check out the finished shots, which surfaced a few moments ago. The theme centres on ‘Strong vs Weak’; her strong alter pulls the weak one out of the rain an covers her.
In other LeToya news, her movie, ‘The Preachers’ Kid’, is released on DVD on May 4th.
Lin Yu Chun shot to International stardom after his cover of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ became an overnight internet phenomenon.
Now, the Taiwan-bred singer has put his own spin on another Houston classic, ‘Saving All My Love For You’. Check out his performance on The George Lopez Show below…
Hailed by many as voices of the new generation, Leona Lewis and Jennifer Hudson have teamed up for, what is being billed as, an explosive duet’. The song, titled ‘Love Is Your Color’, will feature on the ‘Sex and the City 2’ soundtrack, which hits stores on May 25th. {Source}
As a big endorser of both Leona and Jennifer’s talent, I’m definitely anticipating this one. One can only hope the material itself is of the magnitude of this collaboration.
Pop superstar Lady GaGa toned down her trademark eccentricity (ever-so-slightly) at the MAC Japan’s charity event in her honour – ‘GaGaKoh’, which took place earlier this week.
Check out another pic after the jump….
Runway star Rihanna took a rather nasty bump while performing on the Lyon, France stop of her ‘Last Girl On Earth Tour’ last night. The incident isn’t believed to be related to the model’s brief hospitalisation yesterday, however. In any case, check out the footage below…
R&B star Monica will no doubt be celebrating today; the Grammy winner’s latest LP ‘Still Standing’ has been certified Gold by the RIAA for sales of over 500,000 – just four weeks after it’s release.
Meanwhile, the album’s lead single ‘Everything to Me’ sits atop of the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Chart for an impressive 5th consecutive week.

In an industry which sees the flavour of the month top the charts and then disappear, it’s awesome to see a true talent such as Monica holding strong. How refreshing it is to see great music and artists getting the recognition they deserve. Platinum is looking an almost certainty, with the album ‘still standing’ strong in the top ten. More power to Monica!
