Ciara is making quite the statement with new single ‘Body Party’.

The sizzling Mike Will production has been burning up the net and airwaves, and more rapidly so since its accompanying video was unwrapped two weeks ago.

And with streaming now a more prominent component of chart positions (as well as the song holding its own on iTunes), it appears this is benefitting the 27-year-old in earnest. For, ‘Party’ has made quite the splash on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 tally.

The status of pop/R&B couple Chris Brown and Rihanna‘s relationship has been the chat of many-a-spectator since the 2009 incident that tore them apart.

While the two have sung each other’s praises and made many public appearances together in recent months, neither has definitively titled their relationship officially on or off.

Yes, some detract while others support, but one person they shouldn’t expect to cheerlead their reunion is Brown’s dad Clinton.  The elder Brown recently took to New York Daily News to slam his son’s decision to reunite with the Barbadian beauty citing a fear that the result would be tragic.  His damning quotes below:

Ashanti’s still at it.

Despite two years having passed since her ‘Braveheart’ LP was announced, the project has yet to hit stores — and at this point, we’re not sure it ever will.

What is certain, though, is that the former Murder Inc starlet is hell-bent on pushing the almost comical project. Case, point, its latest video, ‘Never Should Have’. We could go there with that title, but at this point we feel sorry for her.

Does the visual pack enough to reverse her fortunes? Decide after the jump…

Much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ segments, readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.  So in a quest to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday we introduced a new retrospective segment – ‘TGJ Replay’.

Unlike its ‘Rewind’ and ‘Vault’ predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase albums (and eras) from a library of pop music hits.  While many look forward to celebrate 4/20 for reasons that shan’t be mentioned, we music lovers marked it as what would’ve been the 62nd birthday of R&B legend Luther Vandross.  Join us as we reflect on his greatest hits…

Award winning gospel singer Fred Hammond‘s career has seen few rivals.  Indeed, be it rocking charts with legendary gospel group Commissioned, choir Radical for Christ, or even by his lonesome, the hitmaker has watched the likes of hits ‘Glory To Glory’, ‘No Weapon’, ‘Jesus Be a Fence’, and many more skyrocket to the top of many-a-gospel tally.

Ever keen on keeping the masses abreast of fresh and/or often underrated talent, That Grape Juice presents ‘The Spill’ – a renewed look at not-so-new, yet active, acts.

The brilliance of R&B’s revival in recent years lies in the variety that has come along with it.

For, as Trey Songz and Willie Taylor succeed in peddling the ‘grown and sexy’, the likes of Frank Ocean continue to carve out more personal lanes, breathing life into the genre with messages and melodies that transcend genre for the first time in a long time.

Joining them in taking the genre back to the top comes Elijah Blake, the Grammy winning singer/songwriter whose ways with words has seen him pen cuts for Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Usher, Rihanna and ‘DUI‘ vocalist Ciara.

Now, in shining a light on the genius that caught Jay Z‘s ear no more than two years ago, we’re sharing just two of our favorite songs from the star. One of them, being his Keyshia ColeWonderland‘ duet and his very own ‘Talk To Me’.
