ask madonna-thatgrapejuice-legends panel

Are you one of the few people who has been living under a rock since VH1 unveiled its hilarious ‘Madonna Dearest’ parody series?  Well, thank us in advance for inviting you to stand in the sun with the rest of us.

Fashioned in the likes of hit Youtube web series ‘Got 2 B Real’ and ‘The Legend Panel,’ the dynamic creative force behind the latter – Phabian Mitchell and Lamont Hicks – teamed with the music channel to craft an online segment dedicated to the Queen of Pop and her ever-unforgiving tongue.  Voiced by TV writer/actress/’woman of 1000 voices’ Nadya Ginsburg, viewers are invited to ask Madge her thoughts on anything from music’s hottest names (i.e. Beyonce, Iggy Azalea, Taylor Swift, and more) to hot topics.

As only the Material Girl would, trust and believe that her responses are witty and no doubt hilarious.  Have you been missing out on the action? Check out the first three webisodes below:

Echoing this week’s TGJ Replay, today’s From The Vault pick is ‘Soldier’ by iconic-trio Destiny’s Child.

The second offering from the divas’ decade old ‘Destiny Fulfilled‘ LP, and follow up to club banger ‘Lose My Breath‘, ‘Soldier’ was helmed by ‘Crazy In Love‘ maestro Rich Harrison and written by the girls alongside lyricist extraordinaire Sean Garrett.

As a nod to the founding members’ Southern foundation, rappers T.I. and Lil’ Wayne are featured on the track, which at the time helped further cement their reputation as the next-big-things in Hip-Hop.

Like its predecessor, it peaked at #3 on the Billboard’s Hot 100 – as well as its Hot Hip-Hop/R&B – but had even more longevity becoming one of the biggest songs of the following year. It was a worldwide smash too peaking at #4 in the UK and reaching the 3rd position of the charts in Australia.

The Ray Kay directed video saw the trio yet again amping up the divatude, serving glam, grit, grown, and sexy. A black-and-white affair, the clip featured appearances from a heavily-pregnant Solange, Luke James, and Ice Cube and was nominated for an MTV Video Music Award in 2005.

********************

After rising to prominence with songs that defined girl power, ‘Soldier’ and its parent album continued the trend with a flair, maturity, and a real sense of womanhood.
With ten years having passed and the ladies now possessing their own success, “soldiers” and children, we can’t help but daydream about the prospect of new music, the themes attached, and above all how epic it’d be.
DC3 may have announced their disbandment during their last tour in 2005, yet we’re remain hopeful that a reunion could still happen. After all, their destiny may be “fulfilled” as a full-time group, but there’s no reason it can’t be revisited, celebrated, and have additional chapters added in the future.

Twitter was almost too hot to touch last night as the highly anticipated Lifetime original film ‘Aaliyah: Princess of R&B’ made its premiere – much to the chagrin of fans.

Setting the net ablaze, detractors lent many-a-meme ridiculing the film for its casting, acting, and even musical performances.  The ‘Rock the Boat’ beauty’s fans took special notice to the criticism of her longtime collaborator/friend Timbaland.

Known for being behind the wheel of some of the singer’s most memorable hits, last night saw him behind the wheel of consistent slamming of the network for bringing to light a film many say “should never have been made.”

Did you watch it?  Do you agree?  See it all and weigh in below:

The Wizard of Oz couldn’t deliver the amount of courage needed to be Alexandra Shipp at this very moment.

Aboard the highly anticipated Lifetime biopic ‘Aaliyah:  Princess of R&B,’ the Phoenix-bred beauty takes on the role of one of the genre’s most beloved entities while combatting an army of naysayers – including the ‘One In a Million’ singer’s own family.  Chronicling her rise to fame and the controversies that clouded some of it, the movie, helmed by ‘Queen of All Media’ Wendy Williams, is set to explore (like never before) the life of R&B’s fallen angel.

As the film is being greeted with mix reviews from fans and critics alike before its official arrival tonight at 8/7c, Shipp tells That Grape Juice how she’s handling the skeptics, the challenges that came with singing Aaliyah’s music, and so much more.

Sail on down below the jump to see more from our exclusive chat with Miss Shipp.  As ever, it’s a must read:

When?

This is the question routinely thrown into the air during discussion about Rihanna‘s eighth studio album.

Initially due last year, the set has been marred by multiple delays, which the 26-year-old recently blamed on being a perfectionist (the hilarity).

But according to a new report by DJ Skee, ol’ RiRi could be pulling a rouse and readying a roll-out much sooner than thought.

Nicole Scherzinger is certainly a trier.

Undeterred by the blink-and-you-missed-it performance of her new album ‘Big Fat Lie’, the former Pussycat Doll is pressing on with ‘Run’ – the third single from the UK released LP.

She did that!

And by “that”, we mean launch a brand new clothing line.

Tamar Braxton‘s aptly titled fashion range, the ‘Tamar Collection’, opened its digital doors today and surprisingly features more than the previously reported fan-apparel.

The singer, reality star, and TV host is selling branded dresses, shoes, skirts, jumpsuits, and more at as part of the line – which debuts ahead of her new studio album (due next year).

With November creeping on, anticipation for Rihanna‘s eighth McAlbum continues to escalate.

Oddly, the set is taking much longer to cook than its predecessors and has seen the 26-year-old maintain a lengthy spell out of the spotlight – while the likes of Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Beyonce have dominated the Pop landscape.

Under the guise of mystery and intrigue, the star has managed to evade questions about the project.

Yet, when promoting her new Rogue Man fragrance in Fort Belvoir, Virginia yesterday, she was asked about the LP directly and surprisingly answered.

Find out what she had to say below…

Beyond Tyra Banks‘ iconic modelling career, the style icon has proven her gravitas as a media mogul.

Now on its 21st cycle in the US, her ‘America’s Next Top Model’ franchise continues to boom; the format has been sold and adapted in many other countries and has Banks making major bank as its creator. What’s more, as reported, the stunner is prepping a return to the talk circuit for a panel-based show next year.

The latter is particularly interesting because new reports are suggesting that the star is in talks to take up a role on E!‘s flagship panel show, ‘Fashion Police’.
