The Soul Train Awards 2012 took place earlier this month in Las Vegas, and so as to whet appetites ahead of the show’s November 25th air-date, Centric have released teaser clips from some of the night’s big performances.

Fantasia “churched it and worked it” with her rendition of Aretha Franklin’s ‘Don’t Play That Song’, while Elle Varner gave the a audience a ‘Refill’. Also on the bill were Stevie Wonder, 2 Chainz, and Keyshia Cole.

As previously reported, November 8th saw the taping of the 2012 Soul Train Awards.

Jam packed with performers from today’s best and brightest R&B performers, the Las Vegas hosted event saw its stage graced by the likes of Ne-Yo, Miguel, John Legend, Keyshia Cole, Fantasia, and more.

While viewers won’t get to see the action until it airs on BET & Centric later this month, That Grape Juice extends the invite to see some of the fashion hits and misses via the red carpet below:

This is shaping up to be some awards show!

Indeed, joining the previously reported performers John Legend and Fantasia, news has surfaced that ‘Trust & Believe’ beauty Keyshia Cole will be hitting the 2012 Soul Train Award stage.

The addition to the roster, which will also include Ne-Yo, Anthony Hamilton, 2 Chainz, Gladys Knight, Elle Varner, Raphael Saadiq, and Marcus Canty (among others).  As previously reported, this year’s showing will honor 80s boyband New Edition.

That Grape Juice was on-hand at the 2012 Soul Train Awards nominations announcements in New York today. There, the list of those up for coveted awards were read out to selected press outlets.

Without pre-empting too much too soon, most notable of the nominees are R. Kelly and Usher. For, this year’s tally sees both break Soul Train records. With five nominations, Usher blazes past Michael Jackson and Beyonce to earn the honor of most nominations in a single year, while Kelly now boasts the most total Soul Train Award nominations – of all time.

Last night saw a number of  the urban world’s more celebrated stars align to celebrate the 2011 Soul Train Awards.

From Keri Hilson to Phaedra Parks of the Real Housewives Of Atlanta (available to watch here), the red carpet and the event itself was awash with stars, which also included singer Marsha Ambrosius and director/Reality Tv star  Laurieann Gibson.

With awards season soon to be in full swing, the 2011 Soul Train Awards is on its way and the latest to unveil their list of nominations.  While performers expect to be confirmed in coming weeks, the Cedric the Entertainer-hosted ceremony is set to be held at Atlanta’s FoxTheater on November 17, 2011 but broadcast on Centric and parent channel BET on November 27.

And, with Chris Brown leading the pack with 5 nominations, Beyonce with 4 (…), and Kelly Rowland, Adele, and Marsha Ambrosius landing 3 nods each, the show is already shaping up to be a must see!
