All roads lead to March 25th (today) for three of today’s most celebrated Urban pop acts – Zayn Malik, K. Michelle, and Anthony Hamilton.

Collectively stiffening competition for the existing heavyweights on the Billboard 200, the trio are set to unlock the gridlock Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Adele have had on the upper rankings of the album charts since the beginning of the year (read more on that here).

With stakes high for different reasons per player, tuck in below to tell us:  who are you buying?

Rihanna is not playing with ’em on the charts it seems.

Indeed, after watching her 8th album, ‘Anti,’ reascend to the Billboard 200’s perch this week, the singer continues to fend off stiff competition on the Hot 100 side of the pond as well.  Working her way to a 5th week atop the chart with her latest Drake-assisted hit ‘Work,’ the dual occupancy of the charts’ top spots comes as quite the Rih-peat for the songstress (who achieved a similar feat with her last set ‘Unapologetic’ and its gem ‘Diamonds’).

But, before she gets too comfortable, danger of dethronement may come courtesy of ‘Dangerous Woman’ wailer Ariana Grande.  After a well-received stint as host/musical guest on ‘SNL’ recently, ‘Woman,’ the official lead single/title track from her forthcoming third album, makes an impressive debut aboard the singles chart’s upper dectet this week.  A feat, as originally reported here, which solidifies her position in history books as the first and only artist to debut in the top 10 of the Hot 100 with the lead single from his or her first three albums.

Curious about how your other faves of the day fared on the refreshed chart?  Tuck in below to find out:

This week’s From The Vault selection comes courtesy of Cassie and her infamous 106 & Park performance of single ‘Me & U.’

Extracted from her eponymous first album, “Me & U’ was the model’s debut effort. Released in 2005, the Ryan Leslie production was a sleeper-hit peaking at #3 on the Hot 100 and #1 on the Hip-Hop/R&B charts in the US in 2006. It hit #6 in the United Kingdom the following year.

Beyond club play, it was the track’s high-octane video (which drew comparisons to Janet Jackson’s ‘Pleasure Principle’) that catapulted the release to the upper echelon of the charts.

Yet, could Cassie replicate the fierceness on-stage?

Unfortunately for the Bad Boy belle, the answer was an emphatic, embarrassing, and resounding “NO!”

Taking to the stage of BET’s then-flagship show, the beauty gave the ugliest of performances – characterized and immortalized by stiff, lazy, and laxed stage presence and vocals that just did not show up. Many wondered if she was asleep.

From the attempted acapella intro to the look of “even I know this is a mess” plastered on her pretty face , it was all a dismal disaster and ultimately spelled the end of whatever quest she had to be taken seriously. Her music career, as the last decade has shown, has never quite recovered.

It’s just her luck that this has happened back in 2006, because in the current viral age (see: Instagram, Facebook, memes and the like) her career in the broader sense (modelling included) is unlikely to have recovered.

Still, by way of her relationship with Diddy and a number of fashion focussed campaigns, she remains one of the most desirable ladies in the spotlight. Not a bad consolation prize.

As earlier reported, Rihanna is set to hit the road.

The 27-year-old model is looking to put the past year of poorly received music behind her and finally accelerate with new album ‘ANTI’ – the world tour for which was announced today.

Sponsored by technology giant Samsung, the trek will play to audiences across the globe and clocks in at over 70 shows.

Tickets go on sale December 3rd at LiveNation.com and fresh reports suggest an album tie-in is likely to be explored so as to buffer sales.

Whatever the case, we just hope she’s leaving the stiff whines, pom pom pats, and gargling goat vocals in times of past. The tour kicks off in February, so she has ample time to right the many wrongs from past jaunts.

In the here and now, check out the first batch of ANTI World Tour dates below…

Welcome back to TGJ Replay!

Designed much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ features, ‘Replay’ is That Grape Juice‘s newest reflective segment to act as a written quest to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday. Unlike its retrospective predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase entire albums (and eras) from a library of pop and Urban pop music hits.

Now, as fans ready themselves for the muchly anticipated follow-up to R&B diva Kelly Rowland‘s ‘Talk A Good Game,’ we reflect on the album that really put her on the genre’s map by her lonesome – ‘Ms. Kelly.’

“‘I wrote a lot on this album and I’ve had a wonderful time recording it. It’s a feelgood record; very intimate. It’s a sneak peak into my mind and heart.  I listened to a lot of Whitney Houston for her vocals. I love her. I love Beyoncé’s voice, and I love Brandy. Those are three vocalists who inspire me. I love how different they are. I love how they take themselves to the next level.'” – Kelly Rowland, 2006
