Clearly, the producers of the 2013 American Music Awards have quite the funny-bone.

For, despite being tasked with celebrating musical talent, they’ve tapped an Instagram model as the first-ever recipient of their ICON Award. They’ve tapped Rihanna.

In the melee that is the media’s fixation with Miley Cyrus, it’s easy to forget that the eccentric star can actually sing.

Mariah Carey she is not, yet there exists a voice in the 20-year-old that we wish she’d tout more rather than the stiff twerking she seems to believe is “all the rage”.

Hence, it was warming to see the ‘Bangerz’ belle bin the theatrics on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge today, where she thrilled with an impressive showing of Lana Del Rey‘s hit ‘Summertime Sadness’.

‘Work B*tch’ beauty Britney Spears works her comedic muscle in a spoof of Michael Jackson‘s legendary hit ‘Thriller’.  The tune and its accompanying music video, a Halloween favorite since its 1983 debut, inspired the normally stiff songstress to show off a bit of her fun side in a short BBC Radio 1 ‘Breakfast Show’ skit.

Featuring host Nick Grimshaw, the duo recite the now iconic Vincent Price ‘Thriller’ voice over in a cute and clever showing titled ‘It’s Britney, Witch’.  See it above:

After watching her latest single ‘Beautiful’ soar to Platinum heights earlier this year, Mariah Carey has made a bold step towards a new direction this month.

For, after partying ways with Randy Jackson and enlisting Red Light Management to direct her career, she has now cut ties with them- calling on Jermaine Dupri to serve as her manager.

With an album release fast approaching, Justin Timberlake is hitting the promotional trail. Hard.

Fresh from rocking the VMA stage on Sunday night, the ‘Take Back The Night’ singer stopped by The Angie Martinez show on Hot 97 radio today, waxing honest about many a topic.

The megastar, whose new LP ‘The 20/20 Experience (2 of 2)’ arrives on September 30th, discussed the controversy surrounding stiff twerker Miley Cyrus, receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award from MTV, double dating with Beyonce and Jay-Z, and much more.

Much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ segments, readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.  So in a quest to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday we introduced a new retrospective segment – ‘TGJ Replay’.

Unlike its ‘Rewind’ and ‘Vault’ predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase albums (and eras) from a library of pop music hits.  Today’s ‘Replay’ presses play on pop princess Britney Spears’ 4th album ‘In The Zone’ – arguably her last great stage performance era…

Known to most Australians as the ‘princess of all media’, 27-year old recording artist/TV personality Anne Curtis has certainly won over her fair share of Aussie hearts over the past two decades.

However, those hearts may have suffered a few attacks after witnessing the Filipino media darling take on the task of recreating pop icon Beyonce‘s 2013 Super Bowl showing.  Armed with shakier vocals than Rihanna on a merry-go-round and moves stiffer than a Britney Spears wax figure, Curtis certainly had viewers chatting after this awesomely bad performance.

It’s one you have to see to believe.  See the carnage below…

‘…and like that, a smash hit is born‘.

As if the chart return of his wife Beyonce wasn’t enough to give Jay Z much to celebrate this month, his ‘Suit & Tie’ collaboration with Justin Timberlake has ensured that both he (and his pockets) will be smiling for some time.

For, less than twelve hours after its digital release, the R&B jam has rocketed to #1 in the UK- snatching the top spot away from Will.i.am and Britney Spears‘ ‘Scream & Shout’.

She has done it again with hardly any reason to say oops! For, yet again, 2012 has proven ‘Toxic’ tinwoman Britney Spears seems to have the magic potion when it comes into raking in the big bucks.

With an estimated $58 million in earnings over the past year (due to album sales, tours, ‘X Factor US’, etc), Spears has new reason to ‘Scream & Shout’ as reports have surfaced indicating the stiff songstress beat out stiff competition to be named 2012’s highest paid female musician.

Find out what top divas she beat to the top below:

Unfortunately for them, not everyone can move like the Janet‘s and Beyonce‘s of the world.

So, just to ensure these performers are made aware of their ‘choreographed’ shortcomings, our friends over VH1 have forged a tally of acts who they believe are ‘Good Singers‘ but ‘Bad Dancers’.

To be honest, once you see some of the performers who made the list, you’ll understand why we’d say a few of them are bad at both.
