R&B singer/actors Brandy and Ray J are featured on the latest issue of Jet magazine. The siblings have been busy promoting the premiere of their new Vh1 reality show, ‘Family Business’, which debuts on April 11th at 9pm. Ray J is no stranger to reality TV as he had successful seasons of his show ‘For The Love Of Ray J’ – in which Brandy regular featured – on Vh1.

Ever since Lady GaGa crash-landed onto the music scene two years ago, comparisons to Christina Aguilera have been rife. Yet, while much of the chitter-chatter centred around GaGa imitating Aguilera, the tide has turned in the wake of the ‘Bad Romance’ singer’s undeniable success. Indeed now,  many argue that it is Aguilera who is ‘borrowing’ elements of what has turned GaGa into a superstar, both visually and musically.

Such comparisons do not sit well with acclaimed songwriter Claude Kelly, who penned four cuts for Aguilera’s forthcoming ‘Bionic’ LP. Speaking to VIBE recently, Kelly said of the comparisons…

Fresh off the success of his Gold-selling LP ‘Ready’, and a coveted slot on Jay-Z’s ‘Blueprint 3 Tour’, Songz is gearing up for the release of his fourth album this September (14th). Taio Cruz looks set to follow-up the chart success of ‘Break Your Heart’, with new single ‘Dirty Picture’. The video for the Ke$ha-assisted single debuted a few moments ago. Check it out above…

Pretty standard-fare. As a UK’er whose seen many of Taio’s videos, a bit of variety from the singer/songwriter/producer really wouldn’t go amiss. I say this as the video has a look and feel much like the that of his past offerings. In any case, the song – though lyrically empty, goes hard. Here’s to another smash!

WOW! I’m not one for cliche’s, but that literally made the hairs on my arm stand. Besides switching up the delivery of the song, Ms. Arnold took the track to a whole new level with her notes toward the end. Awesome ending, even better (overall) performance.

Ciara and her team really do not appear to be playing with her forthcoming album. A previously reported, the singer shot the video for the LP’s lead single ‘Ride’ earlier this week.

Yet it seems plans for the project are being put into action way before its release window, as it has been confirmed that the dynamic performer is set to shoot the video for another song titled ‘You Got Me’ – which, like ‘Ride’, was written and produced by Tricky Stewart & The-Dream. {Source}

News of another new video definitely has me anticipating her project that much more.

It’s always a good sign when a label/marketing team are putting things into play this far off from an album’s release; a real indicator of great strategy. Good strategy being something Ms. Harris’ project needs as a necessity, considering how things ended up the last time (see: ‘Fantasy Ride’). Above all, it’s awesome to see the level of secrecy surrounding the project; for not only is it a key ingredient of generating a buzz, it’s a stark contrast to the many leaks which effectively brought ‘Fantasy Ride’ to an abrupt halt last year. Here’s hoping things are more smooth sailing for Ciara this go round.

With a new reality show on the horizon, R&B singer Brandy and her brother Ray J revealed that they have been inspired by the recent successes of their close friend, Monica. In the interview with HipHollowood.com, Brandy highlighted that she was so impressed with resurgence of Monica’s popularity that she is using her ‘The Boy Is Mine’ collaborator as a model for her future endeavours in music.  Check out the footage below:

The video for Janet Jackson’s ‘Nothing’ – the lead single from the ‘Why Did I Get Married Too’ soundtrack premièred a few moments ago. Check out the Tim Palen directed clip above…

As much as we support Ms. Jackson, if this wasn’t a recession-special I’m really not sure what is. Terrible. I mean I wouldn’t be surprised if her outfit costs more than the production budget. Sad, as the song is actually one of her best offerings in some time – yet the video definitely takes away from it. She only just gets a pass because a) it’s a soundtrack single and b) she’s never served up anything as atrocious as this for her own projects – and hopefully never will. Awful.
