The official tracklist for Monica‘s forthcoming LP ‘Still Standing’ (due March 23rd) surfaced today, via our good friends over at Urban Bridgez. Check it out below:

‘Still Standing’ Official Tracklisting:

1. Still Standing featuring Ludacris
2. Stay Or Go
3. Everything To Me
4. One In A Lifetime
5. Mirror
6. If You Were My Man
7. Here I Am
8. Love All Over Me
9. Superman
10. Believing In Me

While I knew the album was likely to be a 10-tracker (see: industry politics), it’s positively surprising to note that many of the leaked tracks didn’t make the final cut (see: ‘Betcha’ and co). I mean, for as much as I was feeling some of the cuts, it’s not a good look when one’s whole album (a few tracks aside) has made the rounds on the net prior to release. Thus far, (correct me if wrong) previously heard tracks are ‘Still Standing’, ‘One In A Lifetime’, ‘Everything To Me’, and ‘Love All Over Me’ – all of which are great songs, and have me eager to hear what else Ms. Arnold will be serving up. Roll on March…

Yes! I can not wait to pick this album up.

  6. Jasmine February 12, 2010

Sam why is it industry politics to only have 10 tracks now?

  7. Ben February 12, 2010

I’m starting to get pissed off at artists putting out these short albums. I know why they are doing it, and it is because they are trying to match up with the days of good ole’ records. But there is a problem. Back in those days, an artist could put out an 8 song album and it would be flawless or damn near close it it. Most artists can’t do that these days. I’m sure these days we all pick apart albums as follows-4 to 5 out of the set are considered favorites, 3 or 4 are just ok, the rest are fillers. Unless at least 7 out of the 10 tracks are really good, the album will wane, like Beyonce’s last album or like Sade’s new material. A 12 track set is considered a good number in today’s standards cause that leaves plenty of room for experimentation. Sometimes 14 or 15 is ok. Anything beyond that isn’t really necessary. I mean seriously, 10 tracks is a waste of CD space, especially when artists record about 60 songs every time they record new material.

Wow no Infinity? After all the fuss was made about that song on her show too?. That was one of the best cuts we heard. It’s better than her first two singles. She should have taken out Still Standing & put that one on. Everyone has had Still Standing for two years already. And Betcha was a nice track too. This is lame.

I love Monica, but only 10 songs, and why isn’t All I Know Is Me and Infinity on there? Well whatever I’m still going to buy 2 copiess and I wish Monica all the success!

  10. Dave February 12, 2010

BEN, if you would read, and do research, you’ll know that LABELS ONLY SUPPORT A 10 SONG CAP FOR ALBUMS. That’s all their paying for, other than that, the artist has to pay out their own pockets, and that doesn’t necessarily mean the label will support the songs that the artist paid for, for placement on the album. But, i’m excited, can’t wait to get my copy.

Ben I see what u are saying but u must not have watched her show. It is the record labels that only put 10 songs on the album. It would be great to see Infinity on the album, but how can we be so sure that this is the final list? But I will buy this album at midnight. I’m so ready 4 this album.

It better be good if it only has 10 Tracks, I actually find that Albums with few tracks are better than those with about 20 or more tracks Bcuz you ultimately sacrifice quality for quantity. With Albums like B’Day & Thriller every track has to be good & I doubt Manica will be able to pull that off.

I think R&B music from the likes of artist like Monica, Mary J, & Keyshia ‘Ghetto’ Cole are just O.K, pretty bland/boring/Basic & weak, The Lyrics are made far too simple which can also take away from their songs. These artist define Mediocrity…

Sam what are you talking about? “Love All Over Me” did not already surface on the net, only seconds from what we heard on the show. Get your facts straight.

  15. The Couture Kid February 13, 2010

Ten Songs are not “industry politics”. Its actually in the artist favor to have 10 songs. Record Labels have whats called a “cap” on how many songs they will pay you a royalty on. If you go over your cap, you reduce your royalty significantly. When artist put 20 songs on an album they are literally taking money out of their own mouths and making it better for the label. Especially given the reality that out of the 17 or 18 songs on an album, only a handful will get downloaded and paid for.. Back in the day albums were 10/12 songs…

Where is ,,,,,Infinity – Never Give Up – All I know Is Me come on now only 7 songz to be excited about atleast do a bonus disc

  17. antertain February 13, 2010

RIGHT i’m not gonna panic until i see official track-listing from MonicaSoul or Monica.com
In term of the 10 tracks thing Monica explained the label capping.
However in Monica’s case i hope she argues strongly that her first 3 albums had 13 or more and her least sucessful album only had 10 official songs and a bonus track on some copies.

If you check old skool albums from Micheal Jackson, Anita Baker, Aretha, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Whitney, Janet Jackson etc… They all had 8-10 song albums.

I believe strongly that INFINITY will make the album in some way otherwise it’s criminal.

Maybe they can do what they did with the No.1 Billboard selling album After The Storm (Mo looks great on that album cover btw) and release a bonus CD with 5 tracks and Everything To Me video on it.

Full songs i’ve heard from that album list is Still Standing, Stay or Go (Tynisha Keli version), One In A Lifetime & Everything To Me. Others i’ve heard in full are Let Me Know and Betcha (unmixed versions). Rest have been snippets

Love the start of Let Me Know “You said you’d take meeeeeeeeeeee to the Jay-Z concert last night, oooh wahhhh”

People Sam did say correct him if he’s wrong so therefore there’s no need to say “get your facts straight” I’m just saying……

  18. antertain February 13, 2010

awww i 4got about Taxi wow!!! Well I got it already so if not on the album i can cope.
