Though Beyonce is currently on a break from the music scene, it hasn’t stopped the mega-star from pressing on with her charitable efforts. Yesterday (March 5th) in New York, the 28 year old officially opened the Beyonce Cosmetology Center – a place designed to give recovering addicts a chance to embark on a career in the cosmetics industry.
According to the ‘Single Ladies’ singer, her inspiration for the venture came about when she was researching drug addiction for her role as Etta James in the critcally-acclaimed ‘Cadillac Records’ movie in 2008.

Thank you for posting this Sam, It’s such a beautiful feeling when you give a gift to someone. Beyoncé is a inspirational person and as a young women Beyonce is my role model. She hasn’t had any sex tapes, naked pictures, abortions, pregnancies, break downs etc… Obviously rumors do occur but I don’t believe them. My sister died of drug abuse and I wish she had this kind of help. Who ever says she’s taking pictures for publicity are evil, [b] what have you done to help someones live? Isn’t it a sin to judge? Hopefully she doesn’t hire her own makeup artists to work at the center or anything. Too many a time Beyonce be looking like a straight up drag queen with her overly done makeup. And no, not an attractive drag queen either!

Black girls need real education and not a school to do cosmotology, get your hair and nails did, from the Beyonce Cosmotolgy school. Black folks need real education not how to style hair and nails and facials. How insulting and not appropriate, considering that the average black neighborhoods have like 100 salons out there. I love the fact that Beyonce is doing such a great deed! It’s always refreshing to see celebrities doing great in the community.
I think the dress is cute but that’s it. Her face looks sunburned or either her make-up is too dark for her skin. And what’s up with the shiney stockings? And although her wig/weave looks better but I think her weave/wig and color should be more like mama Tina because it looks more authentic.
Anyways good for them. Get ‘em Bey!!!

um…i doubt recovering drug addicts can do an 8 year stint at a med school or what not
cosmetology school is much easier to learn for someone who is recovering from an issue like that, and the hours are more flexible since the school is built right inside the institution! plus, what mama tina said does resonate…beautifying yourself can really boost a woman’s self-esteem & self-appreciation and beauty school is a lot more tangible than an intellectual based program.
