Keri Hilson Forgets Words While Performing US National Anthem
R&B star Keri Hilson had quite the embarrassing episode last night at the LA Lakers vs Atlanta Hawks game. While performing the US National Anthem (‘The Star Spangled Banner’), Hilson blanked out, forgetting the words to the iconic song in front of the thousands in attendance.
Kudos to her for continuing on (like a professional), however I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t just a teeny-weeny bit hilarious. After all, it just had to be Keri Hilson, didn’t it?! (I’m pretty sure the usual stans will tear her a new one LOL). Check it out after the jump…

alright cmon now, i think everyones being a lil too hard on her. plenty of ppl in the r&b genre have messed up on the anthem, see Musiq Soulchild and many others. sometimes we all get a little nervous but the important thing is that she kept going and ended well. every singer has their “off-days”, EVERY singer. i just wish all the haters would stop waiting for someone to make a mistake so they can bash them or say theyre not talented or cant sing. lets not forget she did bring home several “best new artist” awards and 2 Grammy nominations. Kerry has a nice voice and yeah she messed up…To say the Bish can’t sing at all may be stretching it a bit don’t you think! I don’t know exactly what she did to make so many hate her so early in her career but I feel for her because no matter what she does, those that hate will still hate.
Alot of americans don’t know the right words to the National Anthem ( of course I do know the correct words!) but she was singing the wrong line, not singing incorrect words. I’ve seen people butcher the song ( adding words that aren’t in it, etc.)and while slightly embarrasing that is not butchering the anthem.

Whitney’s version was prerecorded just like many others (you can look it up, it’s well documented as including prerecorded vocals). So there was no chance of Whitney having an embarassing moment like this one. Whitney was at her vocal peak at that time but still didn’t take a chance on going out there without prerecorded vocals.
