40 year old diva Mariah Carey appears unwilling to let go of her youth, revealing the name of her latest fragrance to be titled ‘Lollipop Bling’. Set for release via collaborator Elizabeth Arden later this year, the fragrance joins Carey’s existing fragrances ‘M By Mariah Carey’, ‘Forever Mariah Carey’, and ‘Mariah Carey’s Luscious Pink’.

Sigh. While Mimi has expressed that she feels ‘eternally 12′, the point-blank reality is that she isn’t. Though just a fragrance name, it kinda embodies everything that is wrong with Ms. Carey-Cannon’s image these days. With ol Mimi now being 40, many of her fans are itching for a more elegant and ultimately more refined image from her. Yet, instead we’re subject to more childish, clichéd nonsense (Lollipop Bling? I mean come on now!)
The sad part about the whole shabang is that she’s only making it harder for herself in terms of this new album that our resident lamb (*cough*Trent*cough*) and her fans seem to be so excited about. The record buying public have spoken in unison about their thoughts on her image etc (see: her declining record sales); hence can you really see them lapping up her ‘I’m 40-but act 20-but am really 40′ steez? I don’t.
If her contemporaries, such as Janet Jackson and Madonna, have managed to age gracefully (with their sex and youth appeal doing so also), why can’t Mariah?

That is the most stupid name that I have ever heard for anything! And I am a fan but this is ridiculous! This just reinforces the stupid, airhead, crazy images that people have of her and she doesn’t seem to understand. Who would buy something with that name? The sad part about it is that of all the people that work for her (management, employees, etc.), noone stepped in to tell her how ignorant that sounds.
