With her barbie domination in full swing, a new song from Nicki Minaj has surfaced. The track, entitled ‘Ice Cream Man’, is reportedly from an upcoming mixtape via Light Exclusives. Check out ‘Ice Cream Man’ below:
This is the 1st solo track from Minaj that is actually strong enough to keep my attention. The production is incredible and melody has a fun summer vibe that encourages multiple plays. Let’s see if Minaj has more records like these on her upcoming album (in stores November 23rd) or if we’ll just have to make our own mixtape out of just her features.

People this is 2010. If you want female emcees google a few artist that came out a few years ago. Female rappers get used like a kid uses a toy, there played with for a while and get forgotten about. Here’s a few names & stats to check out:
Ebony Eyez St. Louis, MO
First album “7 Day Cycle” came out in ’05. “In Ya Face” was her first single, it was produced by The Trackboys- the same guys that produced J-Kwon’s “Tipsy”. She had no prep time, was the label’s tax write-off and was dropped. Nice Girlz Finish Last, her mixtape came out last year and is fire.
Ms. Jade Philadelphia, PA
She was apart off Timaland’s Beat Club label. Her LP, “Girl Interuppted” came out in ’03. She was featured on Missy’s “Gossip Folks” in ’02. Her “MIllion Dollar Baby” came out in ’07 and it shows that she is a real rap bully broad.
Shawnna Chicago, IL
She was like Bonnie to Ludacris’ Clyde, but after two LPs (Worth The Weight- ’04 & Block Music- ’06) and no real interest from Def Jam she now rolling with T-Pain’s Nappy Boy label.
Unladylike East St. Louis, IL
Their debut, Certified, was released LAST YEAR ON DEF JAM. Very few people outside of the midwest knew about it (including myself). They had the best chance of showing the world that young females can hang with the fellas (before Nicki Minaj), but that opprtunity was squandered.
There are many others that have came and went due to poor decision making and horrible execution. Nicki is needed in the rap game, but she is not the end-all-be-all.
