British rap star Chipmunk and R&B singer Chris Brown treated their respective fanbases to a festive surprise today – the première of the video for their debut ‘Champion’. The clip, which was shot in Miami earlier this month, was directed by Colin Tilley.

Though visually stimulating, no amounts of gloss or visual intensity could take away from the fact that not much of anything really happened in the video. Still, the song (which comes across more ‘Chris Brown ft. Chipmunk’) is undeniably a hit in waiting – something the video will only serve to accelerate. Great track.

Love the song and the video was good, especially the water scene. This song, in my opinion, blends well with the “F.A.M.E.” album because of what he has endured. I wonder if he will put this on the upcoming album perhaps as a bonus single.

I was a lil turned off by that line in the song too and I wish it had been left out cause I don’t see how it goes with the song at all. *shrugs* However, he was obvioulsy refering to a period where hanging black men by a rope from a tree was the norm here being that it is the south. Don’t get me wrong I love VA and I am proud to be from this state, but it was a part of our states history as well as many states in the south. Many decades ago of course before CB and I were ever born, and I doubt it takes place here anymore, but there is still some racial tension here. Probably more so where he is from in Tappahannock which is a real small town and is predominately white.
I don’t know what part of VA you are from (I am from Richmondk) but I see a LOT of Confederate flags here and I am sure that many of those people who wave those flags have Grandparents who could have done such things as hang black men. When my parents were kids they still had segregated schools. I remember during election time back in 2008, people who had Obama signs in their yards had their homes vandalized with racial slurs and in some places they hung dolls by ropes with name Obama on them. It was crazy! My dad made me take all the Obama stickers off my car just to be safe! SMH.
Again I don’t like that line in the song at all, and I wish he would lay off the rappin as well, but that line is unfortunately a part of our states history. Other than that line, the song is dope and it should be a hit, if not in the states at least internationally!

Actually, the #’s and sales posts are excuses to cover up the fact that the person has no talent. “Relatively” good performances (by today’s standards, which are rather low), #1 singles and popularity is not what I’m into. Good music, great lyrics, great vocals (by someone with TALENT), and excellent performances is what I’m about. I mean getting #1 singles and popularity mean nothing when you can’t even perform on stage. Too bad many people have fans that have no standards when it comes to music, performing, talent, etc. so they accept anything and everything. I am glad that Chris Brown does have talent and is creatively involved in the process of his albums. I hope that I hear great music with no auto tune on F.A.M.E. and not music that would be considered a “hit” by today’s low and sad standards.

Even the judge said it was impressive as MOST people revert back to their wrong ways, even celebs (TI repeat offender, Mel Gibson repeat offender, Lindsay Lohan,etc)

I was just pointing out that the talent argument is stale. I’m a little over certain stans claiming this person and talent and this person doesn’t have talent and so on. I mean girl it’s fine if you don’t think someone has talent, especially since talent can mean anything, but when you discredit their success and blame the world, it come across as desperate. For example, I don’t think Chris Brown has talent as a singer. Him performing in front of President Bush (the dumbest president America has ever had) really means nothing. His voice has no vocal range, and every note always sounds the same. It’s my opinion. HOWEVER, I’m not going to sit here and discredit his success as a singer because I’m note bitter. Certain people should take note.
He can dance very well though and I hope it takes him far.
