New Song: Keisha Buchanan – ‘Under Control’

Published: Wednesday 12th Jan 2011 by Sam

Time sure passes with the swiftness when out of the spotlight. Case, point, example, Keisha Buchanan. It’s been 18 months since the former Sugababes lead was controversially ousted from the group, and pressured into solodom.

Having signed to Island/Universal Music immediately following the split, Buchanan has been working on her solo debut in the US – the fruits of which have begun to surface. Cue ‘Under Control’.

While little is known about the track, which appears to be in demo form, it serves as the first offering from one of the UK’s most recognisable voices.

Take a listen below…

Promising. For, although the chorus lacks, the track’s verses and production are solid.com.

Nothing special, same old same old.

BIG disappointment. Hope she comes up with better songs.

  6. NE-YO*STAN January 12, 2011

Why do I feel like this song could go big if she was white? or a crossover artist like Jordin Sparks?

  7. Leon January 12, 2011

I’m just happy to see her back on her feet!

she got my Sympathy vote ( a well earned one considering the circumstances) and its not like she cant sing!
She reminds me off Beyonce when she first left DC

    @HILARIO WILLZ

    LMAOO, DEADD.. Not.

    :l

Anyway, more IMPORTANTLY. I think this song has great potentials. She has a a unique voice and sound. Production is slightly childish sounding but it’s fun and I can hear this song all over the radio already.

lack a lot !!! not balancing with her amzing voice and talent!! disappointing!!

  11. Dunster January 12, 2011

Disappointed! This is underwhelming and generic, i can see this going to number 1 due to the state of the music industry but i’m hoping that the rest of the music she puts out will will be better. To be honest this could’ve been a left over track from sweet 7

  12. GorgMon88 January 12, 2011

sorry but she is NOT a solo artist, she needs to be in a group, and the song is boring

  13. Bonginhlanhla January 12, 2011

The Sugababes were a great group, sure they changed line ups a lot, but they didnt stop making good songs. but its true.. theres nothing stand out about this song.

  17. Kweli69j January 12, 2011

Really Looking forward to Keisha’s Album!!!

  18. popkins January 12, 2011

Kiesha I love you girl but the song lacks something need to hear your lovely voice a bit clearer. Define your voice. Think there is too much going on with the music…. experiment a little and make it a little more interesting and catchy! 😉

If this is just a Demo then the final version could be much better and i liked the clip of the other song that leaked a while ago. I think she’ll do well but tbh Siobhan Donaghy is the most tallented Sugababe (see her crimanally underrated second album “Ghosts”) and Mutya has the best (and most recognisable) Sugababe voice although she’s better suited as a group member because she needs to have her chaviness restrained to appeal to the shallow members of the public, her album was good though.
I’ll probably check out Keisha’s album but i don’t know why anybody has sympath for her, she got kicked out? ever heard of Karma? she bullied Siobhan out, bullied Heidi when she joined and then Bullied Amelle to a nervous breakdown so sorry she got no sympathy from me on that situation. #JustSaying

this sounds like a demo but I like it/lots of potential but to me heidi has the best voice. and for anyone on here that don’t know about the sugababes look up the albums one touch and taller in more ways. FANTASTIC ALBUMS!!!!

  21. FUSION January 12, 2011

I’m surprised – its very poppy, bu catchy. it will be big in the UK. Not 100% sure how it will do in the US, then again, you never know – they are hungry for UK stars these days lol.

  22. Divadom January 12, 2011

Hmmm. It could grow on me!!

  23. Jordan January 13, 2011

i like the verses and message. its very positive and uplifting. her voice is so pretty as usual

  24. James January 13, 2011

Its not bad at all. I don’t think the whole album should be like this. She really needs to balance things out by putting songs like Fearless on the album too. It sounds weird to hear Keisha without two other girls singing with her, but I think she has potential and I really hope she does very well. We need at least one Sugababe who has been successful.

  25. Jay25glasgow January 13, 2011

Suprised by the style of the song. I personally think Keisha would do better with an undeground sound, something new & exciting. One of my fav and most underrated Sugababes songs is Side Chick from Catfights & Spotlight. It has an old skool garage vibe about it whilst sounding current and commercially appealing. I hope she does well, she deserves success as without a doubt she worked her ass of writing for the ‘Babes (see the song credits if you need clarification of this). I’m not sure however she will gain any new fans with this song and we may well see another Siobhan/ Mutya flop in Keisha. Best of luck tho and I for one will defo be buying the singles & album. x

  26. Ross January 13, 2011

Boring. Lacks anything it – sounds very dead, so I’d concur that this might be a demo “leak” to gauge reaction prior to proper mixing.

As for the photo – just how badly photoshopped it is?

  27. Basic January 14, 2011

Not bad! She can do better though!

  28. Kooshlash January 14, 2011

Im all over it. Such a unique vocal. I would recognise it anywhere.

  29. divine February 8, 2011

it has that sugababes 3 feel to it, better than anything from the sweet 7 album
