Ciara Breaks Silence: “I Hope & Pray My Label Release Me”

Published: Monday 14th Feb 2011 by Sam

Following mounting speculation that she had been dropped from her label, R&B diva Ciara has released a statement addressing the drama surrounding her music career as of late. The 25 year old does not hold back.

Find out what she had to say after the jump.

Via Ciara

To my fans:

This week the net has been a buzz of the rumor that I have been dropped from my label. At this point that rumor is false.. It is true that I have asked and I pray that my label will release me. I have had some great times and success with my label, but sometimes like all great things, its at that point where I feel we don’t share the same views on who I am as a artist. The past two albums have been very frustrating for me. At times there were songs I chose to lead a project and I was ignored! This project, I even tried to get Gimmie Dat started I spent tens of thousands of my own money only to hear the radio pds tell me my label didn’t want the song played. I even spent more than one hundred thousand dollars out of my pocket on the video to bring my vision to it and still no label support. I do understand that some labels are not financially supporting their artists and I have become one of them. You, my fans, know that I strive to do my best to deliver to my you the best songs and creative vision I possibly can. I’m dedicated to my music, performance and to my fans! I’ve tried to be a team player with the label only to have compromised what I truly believed.. And was not given the right opportunity to promote and inform my fans of the release of this album..I have so much of me as a artist I still want to give to the world and my fans. A release would allow me to go be creative with people who care and understand me as a artist. In a short time, I will be able to bring to you a new music energy and a visual excitement! Thank you so much for standing by me through the good, bad, and the confusion. I love you all.

Love Ciara

…and there, folks, you have it!

It’s refreshing to see an artist keep it real about the reality of their predicaments. For Ms. Harris, this was oh-so-needed too; particularly amidst the unfounded comments about her “not caring about career” and so on and so forth.

One can only hope things begin to look up for her moving forward.

This is f***** up. All this time people talked ish, and look at the real story.

I admire Ciara, she is a fighter. A true talent. Its such a damn shame how they are treating her.

  11. okkk February 14, 2011

That was sad as hell..especially the part about the label not wanting Gimme Dat to play. I hope eventually she finds success.

  12. GavinGavalli February 14, 2011

People Sleep on her!!!! If people like rihanna and so can have careers I dont see why she cant!!!! People dont realize “that we as America DO NOT PICK OUR STARS” they are marketed to us!!!! Rihanna and other artist are only hot b.c. they have people paying for radio time and so on….this is just proof of that. Ciara is a GREAT artist and when she does find a new lable and becomes the new Janet people will be all on her s*** talking about they were her fans all along !!! UGH!!!!!! LOVE YOU CICI

  13. Nichole February 14, 2011

I love Ciara, and it was Jive that didn’t capitalize on the success off Ride.

She is being treated the same way many artists get treated, and this is the same problem Janet had with Def Jam and she asks to be released from her contract with them.

I certainly hope CiCi finds a new label that will actually be SUPPORTIVE this time around.

  14. jmari February 14, 2011

I wish her the best of luck

  15. Nichole February 14, 2011

‘I love Ciara, and it was Jive that didn’t capitalize on the success off Ride.”

    *of ride.

  16. Giovanni Dayevid February 14, 2011

    Honestly I think its 50/50. . . .

I believe that the label gave her a bunch of issues, HOWEVER its because of the lack of continuity, and cohesion that came out of the recorded material starting with Fantasy Ride. . . .Evolution was an AMAZING album, but the next one was horrible, and it was because Ciara was too busy trying to keep up with the Jones’ (Rihanna, Madonna, Britney, and Beyoncé) and didn’t stay comfortable in her pocket.

Wish her luck elsewhere. . .

  17. Royalkev February 14, 2011

This is so sad, but I don’t know why I don’t buy any of this. I’m a Ciara supporter too! Big time! I think it’s already a done deal and their trying to make the split look mutual and like it’s something that Ciara would need so that it benefits her. That’s clever and I’m all for the plan. I think Ciara should move on. She’s one of the best female artist in the game and I want her to find a label/situation were people see her greatness and back her. I will always stay in her corner(even if it’s 10 of us). I always stick behind talent, not hype, not who radio dictates! Ciara will be back and I hope next time she does it’s with the fire the world deserves to see.

    i a HUGE Jennifer Lopez´s FAN
but i like Ciara , her Last Album wasnt that Bad (for Me)
its the same case with Jenifer´s BRAVE album, her label was the BAD THING! as Ciara
its supoosed that the Label are there to PROMOTE her Artist and bring them all for have a GOOD Albums etc,
Go Ciara!, You can do it!
    (sorry my Inglish, im Chilean!)

  21. LC February 14, 2011

WOW that was needed and that’s soooo sad how this industry have become. Ciara is a great artist and she have done everything to prove her but when you don’t have the right people to support you and let you live your own vision and stop going by what’s going to make the label money. they really lost the faith in the talent artists in todays music industry SMH. CIARA you going to be good on a new record label!

  22. anthony February 14, 2011

and i hope they dont do to her what blackground is doing to jojo just please let her go jive!!

  23. LAMB 4 LIFE February 14, 2011

    Ciara needs a COMEBACK

her debut album “Goodies” is already a classic

one of the greatest R&B albums of the 00s

  24. Kyle February 14, 2011

She said this in a way that made her seem sincere, yet thoughtful and careful. Proof that people can be honest without ranting.

  25. BeyStanYaknowme! February 14, 2011

S*** I feel bad for saying she didn’t care about her career! ahhh 🙁 !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. VLB February 14, 2011

That’s really sad she had to fund her own project like that and her label STiLL didn’t support her, WtF is going on?

  27. Aryo February 14, 2011

poor cici… cant belive she spent all that money on a video!

  28. Aryo February 14, 2011

BTW GIMMIE DAT MV >>>>>> bey’s diva

  29. BRANDY 4EVER February 14, 2011

I KNEW HER LABEL HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT ! SHADY ASSES! People gotta watch out when they get signed cause labels will walk, run a stump all over you. Ciara is one talented chick and she deserves better than JIVE! Id say J records with alicia keys or Universal Motown or any of these better labels than jive. No wonder why i never heard speechless,Gimme Dat on the radio or seen the video on TV. F*** JIVE move on cici to where you can be creative. No matter what you do ur fans will always support and love u.

  30. TEFLON DON February 14, 2011

CEDRIC GURL STOP LYING. IT’S NOT LIKE YOU HAVE MORE OPTIONS TO GO TO OTHER LABELS. YOUR S*** IS WHACK AND SO ARE YOU.L YOU AND YOUR LABEL CAME UP WITH THIS B******* TO MAKE IT APPEAR LIKE YOU HAVE A N OPTION. I AM NOT FALLING FOR THAT B*******. FOOL OTHERS BUT NOT ME

  31. Diana February 14, 2011

I love ciara……the old ciara! Why doesn’t her music sound the same? She makes dance music, so she needs tracks that make people want to dance and the bs tracks that she is getting from the dream isn’t cutting it she needs to call up jazzy or lil jon asap and get some good music that fits her style and quit trying to be like rihanna & queen B. I hope she gets it together she seems like a very nice girl

  32. therealest February 14, 2011

Damn cici I feel you chick. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP BOO. LOVE YOU AND YOU WILL GET YOUR SHINE! KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!!

    LOVE HERRRRRRR!!!!! FIGHTER!!!!!!!!!

  33. Royalkev February 14, 2011

@ get on the floor – Brave was a great album, I hate when some artist don’t get the push they deserve when they need it. Everything out could suck at the time and still sell. Some that make better albums may not do well because they aren’t getting any promotion (even when their a superior artist sometimes).

  34. kelandria’s KASTLE February 14, 2011

@ Gaving Rihanna can actually sing hunni…I love her melodic voice and so does the world…you mad?

All C0-error does is that nasty squat dance like she’s on the pot and she can’t sing. Even Janitor Jackson sung a little bit. I want to see C-error sing her way through a show,

  35. MissImpartial February 14, 2011

Jive must be stupid if they pay radio to not play one of their artist songs!! Do they want successful artist or flops. But ultimatly I think that the “Man” rumors were the deciding factor in her demise.

But Ciara needs to switch it up a little bit. I mean Gimme Dat, Work and Get up were basically the same song!!!

And she needs to go more Pop as the Urban scence does not support her or buy her stuff. That is the reason for Rihanna’s current success.

She is talented and has huge potential with the right songs and management.

  36. Diana February 14, 2011

Maybe it would be better for her to leave jive and go to a smaller label where she would be more of a priority to the label. Jive has some huge artists on their label im sure ciara is at the bottom of the totem pole there, smh such a waste of talent

  37. Queen Beyonce Stann February 14, 2011

Gimmie Dat was FIRE, and CiCi knew it. It’s just too bad her label pushed her aside. Everything fades away… I’m glad Cici is trying to move on.

  39. Queen Beyonce Stann February 14, 2011

I hope and pray they drop her too. #NoShade

Do they not realize that Ciara could be up there with Rihanna and Beyonce if they had invested in her properly?

  42. Jasmine February 14, 2011

Ciara is causing her own career to fall apart. She is trying to be pop but it comes off as “trying too hard” and if people did not buy into it with Fantasy Ride why do it again on Basic Instinct only to fail harder. Her admitting that she spent 100K on the Gimme That video proves that she is trying too hard for an image that is not selling. Gimme That was never going to be a hit and she should have kept that money. Ride was good, but all the rest of the songs on that album sucked.

  43. Reasonable Voice February 14, 2011

This is absolutely not true. Lol, if you aren’t bringing in any money (album sales, single sales, etc) why would the label “force” you to stay? The reality of the situation is, Ciara can’t afford to buy herself out of her contract. She’s just making excuses for her flop singles. Why would the label let you film a video for a song and then tell radio stations not to play it? Ciara is being rushed back into the studio to record ANOTHER album and after it flops, Jive will finally drop her. She came into the music industry off of a trend, crunk, which never had much longevity outside the urban community anyway. She was never destined to be a major international megastar with the longevity of Rihanna, Beyonce, or even Katy Perry. She was hot for the moment, now she’s done. Boo-hoo.

  44. DUMMIES February 14, 2011

    …While I “LIKED” Ciara……

…she tried to do way too much….Ciara The Evolution…Is on of the Best R&B Albums I have ever HEARD ! ! ! ! ! There was sooooo much potential behind that Album…..It could have easily been her Thriller…BUT….It all went down hilll when she released that WHACK ass Song with 50 Cent……

Fantasy Ride took too long to be released…..”Go Girl” with T-Pain came too late…Everyone was sick of T-Pain so why put him on the Record?….”Love S** & Magic” was a nice song…And charted REALLY WELL…BUT…that was for Justin…He made the Song 🙂 “Never Ever” came too ate as well…It sounded like the Female Version of “Love In This Club” and adding Young Jeezy took Ciara’s Spark away…”Work” was released overseas and did well because Missy was a Feauture.Fantasy Ride had every major Producer (Tricky, Danja, Darkchild) and countless others….Justin, Missy Elliot, The-Dream, Ludacris….and more were featured on that Album and it still did not do well….

That Album was all over the place much like Basic Instinct….Wrong Single Choice…..Wrong look…Wrong Videos…Everything was WRONG with that Album…

As an Arist you do have say so in regards to your Singles Videos ETC….Everyone from Beyonce’ to Keri Hilson to Lady Gaga Alicia Keys and Britney all seem HAND ON….Ciara isn’t….

I think the BLAME is on both parties…Her Label for not promoting her properly and her for NOT HAVING A VOICE (No pun intended) and wanting to take a different approach…..

Every Artist has their time…And Ciara’s time was the “Goodies” Era…She filled a VOID…A presence that was MISSING from Music…A young Black Attractive Female Artist that could Dance & Sing…….

    Aaliyah……….

People are just underwhelmed with Ciara now…….

I Wish her the best 🙂

  45. True Blue February 14, 2011

This is why I have a hard time understanding people making fun of her misfortunes. Yes, she’s failing miserably right now, but it’s a predicament that no artist is immune to. And it’s really sad. I feel bad for her, but I really wish she didn’t spend her own money on promoting her album, only because at this point it’s extremely uncertain where her next paycheck will come from. Let’s be honest, it’s not like Ciara will be fielding offers from dozens of labels should she get dropped from Jive. But since she feels that they are hurting her rather than helping her, I hope she gets released from her contract, and hopefully she’ll find a better label that will properly promote and support her. But she does need to step it up on the music front, she hasn’t put out a decent album since Evolution.

  46. DUMMIES February 14, 2011

    @Reasonable Voice

I agree…That Crunk & B s*** did not last long at all…..Wasn’t she named the Queen of Crunk & B???…Like…..Really?……..Smh…….Lol

  47. Tango February 14, 2011

I think she should stop making music and just be a model she has the right body type for it. Or maybe she can be one of beyonces back up dancers.

  48. Ariana February 14, 2011

Poor Ciara, I hope she finds a label who supports her and helps her find her way as singer/performer.
Some people are truly hypocritical. Calling names on this girl on previous posts and suddenly feeling bad for her. SMH

  49. Koodzi February 14, 2011

I truly believe CiCI has real star potential (the lack of a great singing voice doesn’t help though), all she needs is a team that can take her to the top. It happens time and time again that the team that is at the label when the artist is initially signed and during the release of the early albums moves away in different directions and the artist is left with a team that doesn’t have them as a priority. I hope CiCi can reboud from this, really I do. Read it all here: http://bit.ly/eKTLwK

  50. Dude February 14, 2011

I hope this statement is a big lesson to all of those who are to quick to label an artist as a flop when they see that an album may not have done so well, there is always a lot going on behind the scenes, Ciara is so obviously a hard worker and really tried to keep her career going without any label support, modelling, appearing on every show possible and now we find out shes been spending her own money on marketing.

Hopefully now you bloggerd will support the hard workers and talented people and judge there albums and the artist based on the quality of there work and not sales cos sales depond on whether you are flavor of the month

  51. MaZ February 14, 2011

    Wish her the best!

She’s a creative artist, we need her!

  52. True Blue February 14, 2011

    @Reasonable Voice :

I highly doubt you’d be saying “boo-hoo” if this were Rihanna, and let’s be honest, she could’ve easily been where Ciara is right now if she wasn’t blessed with good producers that actually maintain the consistency of her music, good management and good marketing. Ciara started off strong and was on the right path with Evolution before she fell off with subsequently crappy albums and poor promotion.

  53. Prince&Queen February 14, 2011

I hope her wishes and prayers come true bcuz that’s really messed up of how they doin her. She Deserves so much better cuz she has alot to offer to the game.

  54. The Truth February 14, 2011

    That b**** was dropped

  55. True Blue February 14, 2011

And I like Katy Perry, but I don’t see her having much longevity, either. Just saying.

  56. KaVion February 14, 2011

    Then what?

  57. Ciara Stan 21 February 14, 2011

Ever since Fantacy Ride came out I knew that this was what was going on… I just didn’t want to believe it…. Wow Cici!! I’m crying now!! Jive has to be the most unprofessional lable “working” in the industry today! And for all you bullshiters out there I hope you finally see the truth! Ciara cares about her career probably more than your favorites do! Ciara fan for life!

  58. Speaks Truth February 14, 2011

OMG that’s completely f***** up, specially the “Gimme Dat” situation is terrible omg this is crazy labels doing folks completely DIRTY now hopes she finds SUCCESS until then plays my FAVORITE album “Fantasy Ride”

  59. KaVion February 14, 2011

    @TWITTERCOM CIARAMEDLIES
Take you and your wig off this damn post.

  60. Bubbles February 14, 2011

That was cute and all Cedric but girl bye! We all know damn well that if she moves to another label the same damn thing will happen, who she gonna blame then? Problem is she first burst out on the scene marketed as the Prince of Crunk. When Crunk died, the time bomb on Cedric’s career started ticking and it exploded when she released that abortion ‘Basically Exctint.’ The sad thing is though her first two albums are crazy good!! So where the hell did it go wrong??

  61. Royalkev February 14, 2011

@Maz so true! We do need great artist like Ciara, that know how to put on a hell of a show. I’m slowly gaining respect for Rihanna, but some of you that bring her up and make her out to be this artist with so much over Ciara are in need of a dose of reality! Ciara could have easily been in her position. Rihanna refused to let us forget about her, because she dropped an album every year in her developing stages. If she would have taken a break before Rated R, Rihanna would have faded. Now she’s finally arriving believe it or not. Caira already convinced her fan base that she was a artist that you would want to stand by after the Evolution! Heck, even after the first album! It’s just that once Fantasy Ride started out with a lot of teaser singles that were shaky things changed. People loss interest at that point. It was too late when the album dropped (although it was the truth). It didn’t make the entrance it should have. same story with B.I.

  66. Royalkev February 14, 2011

@ Ciara stan 21 – Ciara needs this! Trust me she’s parting ways with that label soon. I think Ciara will easily find a label home and be huge again. This is a horrible situation she’s in, but she’ll definitely be back. She has way too much talent!

Ummmm, damn Cici I didn’t know you were havign label drama! I hope this gets resolved for her sake.

I don’t care what anyone says, I consider Ciara this generations Janet Jackson/Aaliyah. The girl can really put on a very good show. She is an excellent performer who takes pride in putting on a great stage performance. Unlike some of these v***** popping broads!

Omg!!!! I’m crying….. Ciara is just…. ughhhh!! So humble and down to earth! I’m proud of her and the loyal fans who have supported her throughtout the shade and b*******. She ain’t going no where and she’s looking at this as an lifelong experience. Sometimes in life the cake is got given to you all the time. You have to earn that cake. Her record label wanted to set her up for failure. Man this era would’ve been HUGE!!! No worries Ci gonna keep on doing what she does best and SLAY! Seriously everybody thinks her career is over. And at the end of the day she’s standing. What an inspiration to young people. In life your gonna have ups and downs but regardless of what’s happening in your life you must continue to get back up and keep moving foward. As a loyal fan she is one of the most GENUINE and RARE artist of this generation and I’m glad to be apart of her journey. Ciara keep SLAYING that’s all I have to tell you. :):) You got these record labels that have artist that are talented and have potential but they don’t want to do their part in making sure business is handles properly. You would think last era’s turmoil would be a wake up call for her label but instead they wanted to do what they wanted to do. Hell she spent money to try to get this album realeased and make her fans happy. Whatever Ciara always gets the last laugh. I thank this site for supporting her and the owner because it seems they’re sincere and want Ciara to continue to have success. I don’t know what else to say but Ciara #IMPROUDOFYOU.:)

  75. KeriStan February 14, 2011

You know what! I feel bad now talking all that trash about Cici, I thought she lost it, I thought she got lazy on us but really its the label making her looking bad….f****** idiots man. We still got your back Cici, thanks for being real with your fans…I totally respect you as an individual mama.

  76. Kyle February 14, 2011

I hope they let her go for her sake. She deserves so much better IMO. I don’t care how poorly “Fantasy Ride” and “Basic Instinct” performed on the charts, because I still don’t think it takes away from the fact that they are hot albums. Good luck Cici and I will always support you!!!

  77. B@tch Please February 14, 2011

I see some of you are bringing up Rihanna and how she has a team behind her thats why she’s so popular,Mariah has a great team behind her still her last album flopped. If Rihanna take a 3yr break max from making music you better believe that album will fire upon her return.

You have to want it and dare to be different thats the difference between Ciara and Rihanna not the teams.

  78. ADUBS February 14, 2011

Alright CiCi… You might as well go head on over to ROC NATION 🙂

But seriously, it’s a business. Every artist has similar type stories it’s just that some have better endings.

Look at Beyonce, didn’t she say her label told her she wouldn’t have not one hit on DIL. She ended up having five. Justin Timberblake had to fight to get “SexyBack” as the lead sinlge because his label wanted to go another direction.

Fight for what you believe in because it is a representation of you… If you can’t stop putting half-assed, rushed work out.

  79. TIMMI February 14, 2011

IT’S ALL VERY EASY for Ciara stans and the rest to sit here and write about how sad they are and how sorry they feel and how she deserves much better.

BUT, the question is… When Ciara needed your support… Was you there? By that, I mean, were you going to the store and PURCHASING (PAYING!!) for her albums and contributing to her sales? Or was you downloading leaks and talking about how great it was.

And please don’t take this wrong. I’m not saying Ciara deserves to get treat like this because she hasn’t been selling well. She doesn’t deserve this. But let’s face it, if Ciara was selling millions worldwide she probably wouldn’t be in this situation. Record labels treat their artists on their star power. Hence you see less talented people with more expensive music videos, more promo spots etc. etc. If they are selling better they get treat better.

BOTTOM LINE BEING, the music industry is a business. Go figure.

  80. Neickha February 14, 2011

I like Ciara. She really is an amazing talent . I hope that she gets back on her feet and continues to make music, dance and hopefully work out a better deal with her label or move to a different one. Best wishes to her.

  81. i’m a billy goat February 14, 2011

    @Royalkev

There are really only 2 reason’s that we still hear from Rihanna:

First, she is under the spell……I mean hex…I mean guidance of satan….I mean Jayz!

Second, she was used by the penis envying….I mean man hating….I mean evil “feminst witch brigade” as a symbol of young female strength and courage against the oppression of a man (well really a t*** but hell any male regardless of age will do)!

Let Rihanna sit down for 1 year. She will go the way of JLo and the rest of her ilk. Look at Beyonce! Ppl are pleading for her to get back to business. Look how Britney’s fans devoured her 1st single. Do you think the world would really miss Rihanna in light of real talent returning to the industry? Come now! 🙂

  82. Diditonemm February 14, 2011

Yet another artist who has refused to jump on the dance bandwaggon and be part of the never ending generic bullcrap that is music.

Love or hate Ciara you can tell shes one who doesn’t sugarcoat her words..

@I’m a billy goat – I’m with you!… minus the p**** popping broads thing(if one of them is Bey)!

    ************

Oh no! Like her or not, one thing you cannot deny is that Beyonce puts on a very good live show! In stilettos, a lace front, a one piece…whatever LOL! Bey will give it to you and so will Janet! Unfortunately, I never got a chance to see Aaliyah in concert but she would have slayed too!

  85. kekeluvsu February 14, 2011

TRUST and BELIEVE this isn’t the only artist that this has happened too. Ppl are so quick to call somebody a flop when HALF the time they don’t even know what’s going on. Alot of artist who don’t have the backing of their label i.e. Ciara, LeToya Luckett,Amerie etc. have to come out of their own pocket to pay for certain things to take place. It sucks that this is happening to her but this is an everyday accurence with artist. Sooner or later the bigger artist are going to wake up and start doing independent s*** and the big wigs won’t be abel to do a damn thing about it. There has been plenty of talk about this. I can’t wait.

    Good luck Ciara girl.

  86. tumay February 14, 2011

She really needs a new label

  87. B@tch Please February 14, 2011

I don’t know what Rihanna has to do with this post but she isn’t going anywhere.

Rihanna loves what she does and hate to take breaks.

  88. Mari February 14, 2011

    Honestly I think its 50/50. . .

    @Giovanni

Word. . . to everything you said, especially part about the lack of continuity. Whose idea was it the label’s idea to try to revert back to the sound that she debuted with after Fantasy Ride flopped? To me, it seemed like Ci Ci was chasing fans of old that have already moved on to other artists, instead of releasing material that would attract new fans. She rode in on the crunk wave, and that sound is kind of dated, which is why “Turn it Up” would have been the perfect lead single because it featured Usher and was on trend with what’s popular today. If Chris Brown can score a top 20 hit with Yeah 3X, then there’s really no reason why Ciara could have done the same.

I def think that her label is a big part of her problem, but she is not without blame. I don’t think she started having problems with her label until FR bombed. They gave her big budget videos, a song with Justin, and unfortunately, it didn’t take. What I want to know is whether or not BI was self funded? I also want to know why all of her televised performances for BI didn’t occur until the week the album came out.

  89. J TRIPLE DASH February 14, 2011

    I LOVE CC xox

  90. Vegas girl February 14, 2011

Unfortunately she isn’t the only artist experiencing this. Look at any labels artists roster and you will see plenty of artists you’ve never heard of or haven’t seen in a minute. Labels ultimately have control in this relationship. If they don’t see $$ signs don’t expect them to support an artist.

Nelly, lupe fiasco, nas and others have all spoken of lack of label support. The label only wants to support what will make them money. It’s a business first! Hopefully they do release her sooner rather than later. Wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t because would I let my “investment” just walk away to another label ? Nope.. Maybe jive purposely undersupported so when they drop her, she was at a point where her career was cold. Who knows? But every artist is suseptible to this same thing at any point in their career. It can be an ugly business but it is a business. I don’t know how jive will react to this!

  91. Yellow Gorillah February 14, 2011

    Awwwwwwww

I have said and I will say it again Ciara has soooo much potential to be up there will Beyonce And Rihanna but there is something just missing.

She brings so much to the table her dancing, charisma ok yes she may not have the best vocals in the world but she can still hold her own. When she first BURST into the scene I thought YESS She is the one she is going to be the New Janet Jackson it all went well goodies was an Amazing album and revolution was also great but after a while I started to feel like she was always doing the same thing she was always playing it safe,

Yes these two last albums flopped due to her lable not marketing her properly but at this time and age everyone is kinda tired of her back bends she needs to change it up with every album like rihanna with each album we see a different side to her and that brings excitement,

Ciara stans are also to blame I’m sorry Rihanna has Rated R but us Rihanna Navy still made sure it reached at least Platinum or Gold in some places and even a Number #1. Ciara takes toooo long with her singles Ride was GREAT song that was and still is my TUNE till this day but she did not promote it well and gimmie dat is a great dance track but everything with ciara is MESSY I think she needs to leave her label and join another label where they cater to her properley and she is one of the big artist not a lesser.

I still think she needs to do more Goodies, 1,2 step type music because that is the ciara that we all LOVE but she also needs some POP songs so she can get some hit’s and for her to expand her fan base because most of her fan base is black people and we all know black people don’t buy s***.

I just don’t think we should give up on ciara she truly is talented and she still has more to offer she just needs to find people who will let her show her true self.

*Side Note* Why are yall coming For Rihanna … I’m sorry Rihanna has already proved herself to everyone yall act like she is a rookie my b**** has broken records has numerous #1 hits and has sold over 20million albums in 5 years faster then ciara so please let’s not go there. if rihanna continues the way she is going she will become a icon b4 yall say 1,2 STEP!

  92. Avysavy February 14, 2011

The fact that she spent thousands her own money just to bring creativity and vision to a Video says A LOT about her artistry and what she brings to the game. She is a true artist. Ciara, don’t give up. these are only your dark days, things will get much better! I know it. They can’t hide your star for long!

For the idiots that can’t comprehend what’s happening to her and insist that she is somehow lying, Smh. You ppl are some haters.

  93. B@tch Please February 14, 2011

Ciara have to find her own lane every time I see her perform I see Aaliyah or Janet thats not good.Do Beyonce or Rihanna remind me of another artist. No. Thats the problem she have to carve her own lane.

Find her own spot in this big music world.

  94. Dave February 14, 2011

Team Ciara is not necessarily to blame @Yellow Gorillah, & don’t compare Ciara’s situation & team ciara, to Rihanna Navy, because Rihanna had Rihanna navy, along with MAJOR LABEL SUPPORT! She had the ability to be shoved down people’s throats to have support like Rihanna Navy. Ciara clearly didn’t have that. So, there’s a big difference. You act like Rihanna label just sat there & didn’t support her. They were backing her more than Nicki’s booty pads.

  95. Dave February 14, 2011

Ciara, already carved her own lane. It’s not her fault, she’s similar. No one can black bag the stage like her. That’s HER LANE. Rihanna ain’t doing it for sure. Bey can werk a stage, but they’re not doing it exactly like CIARA or no other female artist out currently. Her lane is her dancing, & performances, her rawness, her hardcoreness, her being able to be sensual s***, but rough & hardcore.

  96. Royalkev February 14, 2011

@ I’m a Billy goat – You are right! I have nothing against Rihanna, but she would fade out the same way a lot of girls do(especially if someone like Jlo has once before). I do think that Rihanna’s finally coming into her own, but she is the type of artist you really wouldn’t miss because she’s always bordering on average in so many areas of her artistry. Niether of the two are my favorites, but Ciara is way better than Rihanna! I’m not saying Rihanna’s awful either, but she’s no match for Ciara! I’m glad Rihanna found a way to stick around, but I really wish the same for Ciara!

SHE IS BLACKED BALLED BIG TIME!!! HER SPEAKING OUT MAY DO HER MORE HARM THEN GOOD. GOOD LUCK TO HER

  98. Mari February 15, 2011

I remember Nelly saying something similar about his label woes, but do you think his album didn’t sell well because of the label not promoting much or because the public didn’t want it? I can’t help but ask the same about Ci Ci. I don’t fault the Ushers, Rihannas, Chris Browns, and Beys of the world for doing pop. They know what’s selling and they adapt to the trends and appropriate them in a way that’s marketable. Ciara hasn’t managed to master that. Rihanna may do songs like Only Girl, but she also records tracks like Raining Men, WMN, and Man Down that can play on urban formats as well. So yeah, you can have it both ways.

To everyone saying that its the label that responsible for RihannaNavy, I would have to ask, well, why is it that Chris Brown’s stans seem so devoted to him and his mixtape singles which had no label support? It’s not the label shoving certain artists down people’s throat that creates stan bases. It’s an intangible quality that certain artists have that attracts and creates stanbases, and Ciara may not have that quality because it’s not like people don’t know that her album is in stores and her singles are for sale.

  99. Mari February 15, 2011

SHE IS BLACKED BALLED BIG TIME!!! HER SPEAKING OUT MAY DO HER MORE HARM THEN GOOD. GOOD LUCK TO HER

    @Wow

I agree. This is a bold move on her part. She’s telling her label to fire her, and I just hope she had something else lined up before making this move.

  100. Kyla February 15, 2011

I have always remained loyal to Ciara because she actually is talented!
There is no other female dancer right now that can step to her. He recent album was
SO good but no one would ever know because like she said, her label didn’t promote her.
They NEED to let her go so she can join a label that will invest in her.

Cici I love you, keep doing you, don’t give up and God bless!

    x

  101. MrIncredible February 15, 2011

I truly do think her career is over, even if she does get a new label. Ciara has had some good music amidst all the crappy music from the last two projects, and they still don’t perform well, mainly because she doesn’t have THAT much to offer the industry beyond her dance skills. Sad but true. Ciara’s image is a wreck and that’s largely her own fault… nobody is forcing her to hang out with Kim K. and be a plastic in beverly hills but herself. SMH

Go Ciara! I’m not a fan of her’s but for putting the work and money in for her fans, I must commend her! I really hope she can emulate and even succeed her past success! She is an incredibly gifted performer and I wish her all the best!

R&B used to be the money-maker for labels in the 90s…now they’re disgarding it…such a shame

  106. D February 15, 2011

She is pretty much in the same boat as Ashanti…..everything was going great until her 3rd album when The Inc got in legal trouble and def jam wanted no part of it, she then took a 4 year “break” and bam she is a nobody and no without the support of her team “the inc” and no kind of radio support Ashanti is struggling to find relevancy and prominince in todays industry. Ciara seems to be facing the same thing, she was the ” hot girl” for a moment but after FR flopped(even with her big Justin collabo) and Rihanna,Katy etc emerged not only did her label and radio “move on” but so did the general public. And it doesnt help that both artists seem to have a lot of hate towards them.

  107. Ratedxxx(aka ratedx) February 15, 2011

    really ciara?

ur last album flopped ur gonna blame ur label?

how about u blame u dumb self for hanging out with kim kardasian, instead of being out there promoting ur album..

how about u blame urself for doin a 360 and go straight hollywood on ur stans and fans..

I hate when these artist flopped and act like its all the labels fault..

theres only so much ur label can do for u..

ciara needs to hop off kims c***, and go back to her roots..

  108. Mb92 February 15, 2011

  109. NICK February 15, 2011

I like I like, get it CIARA, I loved the album, but hey, it is what it is….drop em & keep it movin…

  110. RihannaForever February 15, 2011

This makes sense. Originally, I thought Ciara had just stopped caring about her music. However, that didn’t really seem to be correct seeing as she was SO passionate about her career in the earlier years. It just seems like Jive/LaFace gave up on her after “Go Girl” and “Never Ever’ underperformed and Fantasy Ride wasn’t what they wanted from her. I pray to God, too, that she’s released. She could do BIG things.

  111. RihannaForever February 15, 2011

    @RatedXXX
You’re joking, right? Ciara wanted to promote her album, but what could she do? It’s not like Ciara could just go on TV shows and perform! Her label is responsible for paying for promotion and for getting her spots on TV and performances! They didn’t do that, and because of that, she was without promotion!

And also, Ciara tried to go back to her roots with Basic Instinct. Obviously, that didn’t work out.

  112. Faye_Face February 15, 2011

She seems like a sweet girl and its very sad what shes going through, what she needs to do is either start a career in something different like acting or fashion or have a total image change, to be honest this label dont give a s*** about her all they mostly care about is Britney Spears, shes got a massive fanbase and is the only one that really makes them big money. They make sure everything is perfect with her. I really think she should have a career change look at Jessica Simpson she was the same so she did something else, turning into a fashion designer and her products are very successful and is making more money than those who are recording artists, her whole brand is expected to make a billion in a few months. Ciara music is a bit outdated and people are not really into that sound anymore its all about pop/electropop these days thats why you see so many artist that were mainly R&B changing there sound to more pop like Beyonce, and Usher. I wish her well in the future.

I believe everything she said because I remember back in the fall of 2008, a lot of ppl were saying she wanted High Price and Lover’s Thing as the dual first singles off Fantasy Ride and I heard Gimmie Dat 3 times back in November and when I called to Z107.9 in Cleveland, they told me that they don’t have that song anymore. But I don’t think she should do just straight Pop from now on. I think she should songs like Heavy Rotation, Gimmie Dat and Turn It Up, songs that can crossover to Pop and Urban markets and throw in a few ballads like Promise and And I every now and then. I just hope she leaves Jive and signs to a better label or just goes independent. Jive did this to Christina Aguilera and I think they’re doing it to Chris Brown too. How many singles have been released off F.A.M.E. already: 3 [Yeah 3x, Beautiful People and Look at Me Now], his album is coming out in 6 weeks and where is the promo. I don’t think his album will take off the way ppl think is will. Ciara just release one more single off Basic Instinct and start looking for a new label.

  115. Jerry February 15, 2011

Some people think that money will solve all their problems! They often say to them-selves, if I just won the lottery! Or, if I just had a million dollars in the bank! This just goes to show you that when you’re famous & you have lots of money, things don’t get any easier for you, it gets worst in some cases, racism isn’t only at the bottom, there’s worser crooks in that world. Ain’t nothing like a crook with a million dollars to burn. Be careful of what you wish for! You just might get it.

  116. uknowdakid February 15, 2011

ok i feel bad for ciara because jive set her up for failure people saying she should of had turn it up as a lead that was recorded at the end of basic instinct sessions gimmie should of been release in july but was not sent to itunes until november and radio adds was sent november almost 6month after we heard it . it obvious jive tried to make ciara the black britney spears but faild with go girl never ever. i think ciara should go to interscope since she is in talks with them .but music has changed r&b aint really selling so im not sure witch way she should go

  117. Ciara Stan 21 February 15, 2011

She is a star and I hope she gets that money back with sucess in the future

And f*ck whoever said she didn’t care bout her career

  126. true February 15, 2011

i so glad she came out & said it because it was very obvious on this album they wanted it to flop. I would think if you let your artist flop on purpose you make less money which is not good business.

The track list for basic instinct was very lack lust for an album & since ciara has had trouble with her last two albums i.e. ciara evolution hardly got any promotion especially in the UK because the album & music was so good she performed allot & people bought the album. Fantasy ride looked like it had this big vision if you looked at the booklet but the music didn’t match it wasn’t a cohesive sound like evaluation. Basic instinct had allot of hype because she made that ‘You got me’ video & you could hear she was going back to her old sound but when i listen to the album it sounded like her team gave up. Then i hear all these leaked song that should have been on the album, i.e. blauw should have been a single the song is radio friendly it not a great track but it’s a easy buzz single but it didn’t make the album but songs like girls get your money did.

Ciara needs to have one hit album & then sign to a big label or even set up her own label which is sign with a big label she would have a good chance at a long term career, i only say that because the big label have more contact to get you promoted more on radio & TV.

Ciara needs to make mixtapes she could sell them on iTunes as long as your music out the & it’s good fans will always look out for you.
hopefully they let her go, she should just collaborate with different artist that way she still in the limelight i mean it worked for Keri Hilson.

  127. lisa February 15, 2011

CIARA HAS TO MUCH TALENT TO BE FOOLING WITH THIS STUPID RECORD LABEL BECAUSE THERE IS ANOTHER LABEL ASKING FOR HER AND WHO WILL APPRECIATER HER WORK, GOD DON’T LIKE UGLY!

Ciara is a good entertainer she just needs a good team backin her. Like rocnation or YmCm… But they already got famous female artists but she needs a good team behind her. Im sure she can do it. Hopefully, Maybe, probably not Rihanna is all over that base. Ugh and Rihanna isnt as talented as Ciara thats the sad part.
