Hot Shots: Janet Jackson Rocks Miami

Published: Tuesday 6th Dec 2011 by Sam

Pop icon Janet Jackson has spent  the entire year on the road, reminding masses – the world over – about her back-catalogue of smashes.

The trek’s latest stop was Miami’s Fillmore, where the 45 year old delighted the audience with hits such as ‘Feedback’, ‘Rhythm Nation’, and ‘If’.

While we’re glad to see Ms. Jackson still up and active, we’re hoping she jogs back into the ‘present’, and hits a studio on the way there. Granted many will say she’s “done did it all”, she’s still got ‘it’ in abundance; as such, why stunt your own ability to create new musical moments? The careers of fellow Pop queens Madonna, Mariah Carey, and Tina Turner prove that success doesn’t have to stop in the latter part of one’s career.

Your thoughts?

    Your favs could never.

    Stay mad.

  2. Jboss December 6, 2011

I think she will get into the studio. But she has to find a label and team that believe in her music or it’s point less for her to try to come back. The way the girls will read her, who really wants to be under hat pressure and glare, she has to ask herself if it’s worth it

While I would ABSOLUTELY love some new Janet material. I want her to take her time and do it when it feels right to her. The B** documentary that aired a few weeks ago was proof that these last three albums weren’t necessarily in Janet’s heart. Her most successful albums were the ones where she put her all into the music, so when she’s ready to do that is when she should make her way back to the studio. I just want that to happen NOW!!!

  4. skintightjeans December 6, 2011

    Queen Janet!!!

  5. Eric1_1 December 6, 2011

Queen slaying as usual. I do believe she just take as much time as she like. Shes pop royalty. However a lil single from here and there wont hurt. lol

  6. jmoore December 6, 2011

I need some new Janet music ASAP. I hope she will put out an album by summer of 2012!

  7. SHESDUMB December 6, 2011

QUEEN JANET SLAYS IN CONCERT, ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE OPENS UP WITH MY FAVE “THE PLEASURE PRINCIPLE”

    YASSSSSSSS!

  8. social1 December 6, 2011

The fans would love new Janet music, ….I know I would. She could also leak some more unreleased tracks to the internet. Like the full/ complete track called “Ruff”.

  9. TWITTER.COM/ESSENCE_OF_SEAN December 6, 2011

TOUR IS ALMOST OVER! I THINK IT ENDS IN FEB!

BUT I CANNOT WAIT FOR NEW MUSIC FROM MISS JANET AGAIN! I LOVE HER SOOOO DAMN MUCH!

  10. X,Y,”and Z” December 6, 2011

I wonder how long, or how much lard she had to be ‘slathered in’ to slid into those jeans? I mean, she’s just a “chubby marginally-talent ancient, ‘museum-ready’ hasbeen”, now isn’t she?

I mean (let’s keep it 100, shall we?) If MJ hadn’t passed, LONG before his time, Janet Jackson would now be a footnote/asterisk in 1990/80’s history, and then, only highlighting the genius of “Flyte Tyme Productions: Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis”.

Janet Jackson – what a unrepentant, opportunistic b****** she is – a “grave dancer: dancing on her brother’s grave”!

    X,Y,”and Z” — OUT..!!

@ X, Y, Z LET ME STATE SOME FACTS TO YOU ABOUT MISS. JACKSON: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

6 #1 and 2 #2 albums, the only album in history to generate 7 top 5 Hot 100 hits and Hot 100 #1s in 3 seperate calendar years, the first female to debut a CD at #1 in the SoundScan era, Oscar and Golden Globe noms, 6 Grammys, an Emmy win, record-breaking tours, first 3 films debuting at #1 at the US box office, #1 NY Times Bestselling author, 10 Hot 100 #1s, iconic music videos that have inspired today’s young artists, more Billboard awards than any artist in history–RnR Hall of Fame, wake up!

  13. KenKen December 6, 2011

oh and over 100 MILLIONS ALBUMS SOLD! JANET ROCKS!

  14. JohnVidal December 6, 2011

Of course Janet has huge achievements. But first female to debut at #1 on Billboard 200 in soundscan era??? (which means since 1991 and on). Ok it´s correct but the true achievement is WHITNEY HOUSTON, who was the first female ever to debut at #1 with an album on Billboard 200, EVER (it was with her second in 1987)

  15. Yellow Gorillah December 6, 2011

    YAAAAAAAAS Miss Jacksoon

I’m also here for this new wig..

I desperately need a new ALBUM From janet.. Discipline SHITTED! I don’t care what nobody say’s.. I just need her to find that label she can call home.. reinvent herself and boom! because from this tour we know she can do it ..it’s just when?? she better drop a single or something next year . =/

  16. KenKen December 6, 2011

@JohnVidal i’m a little confused because Control came out in 86 and debut at number 1.

@YellowGorillah YES! I cannot wait for Janet to come out with her next project!

  17. Boopi December 6, 2011

    @ B Lamont

I 100% agree. Though it is almost painful to wait, it’s better that Janet waits until she is inspired and ready, and not because she feels pressure from her fans or any label should she choose to sign to one. Until then, I will keep my absolute favorite Janet song ANYTHING (from The Velvet Rope album) on repeat. 🙂

  18. Theman December 6, 2011

    She looks incredible.

  19. JohnVidal December 6, 2011

    @KENKEN
I´m so sure WHITNEY was the first female to debut at #1, ssssssssssoooooo sure! Maybe that Janet´s album was #1 but not in the opening week

  20. X,Y,”and Z” December 6, 2011

    (Meh..) These old FAT, marginally-talented, STALE-p**** b******..!!

Listen close enough, you’ll hear her heart ‘screaming for relief’ as it pumps the “chunky m*****” through her hardening arteries.

The absolute BEST thing to happen to Janet Jackson’s career: MJ’s untimely death! ‘Thicks as thieves’ that Dr. Conrad Murray and Janet.!!

“Grave dancing Janet” is what they call her (behind her back, of course). Meh..
And these FAT black gay men who defend her, the absolute WORST I tell you..!!

    X,Y, “and Z” – “Grave dancers, beware..!!”

  21. Keith December 6, 2011

I agree with he fellow fans who want some new music but also want her to be inspired musically. I also agree that they could leak a lil something, something for us though :-)….

  22. theone December 6, 2011

She’s stll successful. she’s branched on to new ventures i.e acting, writing, touring, etc. and has had much critical and popular success doing it. Music was her gateway and the door is wide open. i see bigger things in her future. sit back and watch

  23. BitchIcantevenspellwelfare December 7, 2011

    Legendary and Iconic.

& if ANY pop girl stan base EVER wants to challenge Janet Damita Jo Jackson’s status, all you need to do is look at this video & accept that your fave could NEVER!

    *sips muthafuckin tea*

  24. BitchIcantevenspellwelfare December 7, 2011

@X,Y,”AND Z”, given your ridiculous comments, I have been forced.

You, a Chris Brown fan of all people, have the audacity to say ANYTHING about Janet. First of all, Chris Brown is a wanna be Michael Jackson while Janet is an original. Chris can muthafuckin NEVA! Second, Janet creates progeny. Chris IS progeny. Third, Janet can BUY Chris off of the corner. 100 Million sold. Her fiance is a Billionaire. This is a 2 + 2 moment for you.

Chris has NO iconic videos. NO Iconic Albums. NO iconic singles.

I need you to tread very lightly when it comes to the Legendary and Iconic Janet Jackson.

I like Chris but I will get SOBER when necessary.

*bumps Rihanna’s “We All Want Love” *

  25. X,Y,”and Z” December 7, 2011

(Meh.. These black gay men with their badly damaged, emasculated, now projected “heat-seeking” self-images; the worst I tell you.. the absolute worst!)

    @BitchIcantevenspellwelfare re: December 7, 2011 at 12:20 am —

    “2+2 moment”..?! <–o~0

You now force me to relieve you of ALL your delusions. As "blissful and comforting" as they seem, they've apparently voided you of any logic, rational, or reason. I'm X,Y,"and Z", I've traveled in ALL dimensions: ALL times, ALL spaces. And the "Road To Damascus" has, by now, well-blistered my heels:

1.) Janet Jackson is NOT an "original". She's the byproduct and afterthoughts of studio gimmickry, and the genius that IS Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
2.) If it weren't for MJ's 'rise', post "The Jacksons", we'd not have a "Janet Jackson".
3.) When last had your "precious" Janet sold concert tickets/records BEFORE June 25, 2009??? ..Exactly! Matter of a fact, in latter 2008, NO ONE wanted to tour with her; see 'LL Cool J' dropping out of that year's tour with her! ..'Hard to face' fact is, time hath laid those fallow lands into now barren, arid, moonscape-like greyness!
4.) Your "gifts" for hyperbole are truly awe-inspiring: there is NOTHING "Iconic" nor "Legendary" about your Janet. Facts are facts: she's now "dancing on her brother's grave!" "Icons" need no such 'crutch'.

MJ's Iconic "Off The Wall" and "Thriller" were done when HE was well into his 20s and 30s, respectively. And THOSE two 'works of genius' came from the mind of Quincy Jones. NOT MJ! Fact is, MJ did NOT create the "Moon Walk". Long-story short: Chris Brown has the luxury of time to perfect HIS craft. So any negative comparisons between he and MJ are unfair, bias, and heavily laden with your promiscuous "old-fat-girl-hasbeen worship", and inequity!

Yes, I'd absolutely rather you.."sober". It would be much appreciated, and a far cry from your (Dec, 7th 12:20 am) disjointed, contorted, 'vision blurring' 80-90s nostalgia trip. The only things "iconic" about your fave are her ever-widening girth, disdain for diet and exercise, and ability to calcify the higher brain functions of her unruly, delusional, hissing, venom-spitting supporters!

    X,Y,"and Z" — OUT..!!

  26. lord harkness December 7, 2011

    @ x,y…

HAHAHA- Wow man, or woman, or whatever,

you clearly have a thing for janet which is understandable. only someone who does would spend all the time writing such detailed posts. thanks to people like you her star continues to shine. if you don’t have some haters u ain’t doin somethin right!
    go on miss jackson!!

  27. lord harkness December 7, 2011

i will say this though- something in her face is different, i don’t know if she’s just applied her makeup, specifically eye makeup different, but she looks not like herself.

  28. Mike December 7, 2011

If Janet were only successful because of MJ, then why aren’t LaToya, Rebbie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, Jackie, etc experiencing the same level of celebrity.

Janet Jackson has loads of talent. Period.

Janet Jackson rocked Miami. Period. (I was there)

  29. Jessica December 7, 2011

X,Y,”and Z”: Oh did Janet hit a sore spot on your ass? LMAO!!! Please if it wasn’t for Janet, your precious CB won’t exist moron!!! Has CB done tv shows without having a damn hissy fit like a 4 year old? Has CB write any social albums that make you think? That’s a no. Where is CB now? All he’s doing is having childish hissy fits on twitter and throwing chairs out the window. LOL. You must be a 12 year old kid who don’t know jack s*** about real music. Janet been out since tv- Good Times and The Jacksons tv show in the 70’s, dropped her album since 1982, killed her tours, CB wasn’t even born, so who has longevity? X,Y,Z. you really need to see a doctor because you sound like a crazy person who had done crack. Even if MJ didn’t pass away Janet will kill the scene anyways, because she has a real sold fanbase unlike CB fickle fans.
