Willow Smith: “I Wish I Wasn’t Famous”

For young Willow Smith, fame was always going to be unavoidable.

The only daughter of Pop culture icon Will Smith and his wife Jada, the last two years have seen the star launch a career of her own- trying her hand at Pop music.

However, despite the fact that she’s generally well received, she has revealed she does enjoy her notoriety during a ‘Red Table Talk‘.

Watch below…

She explained:

If I could change one thing about my life, it would probably be I wouldn’t be famous.

While we’re all for Willow and her music, we’d be lying if we said her ‘set up’ made sense.

For, at 9 years old (she’s 11 now) how does one decide want they to be, and truly  understand the implications behind it.

Yes, while we don’t doubt her capabilities as a Pop act, where does the hoo-ha that comes with the touring, promoting and making movies leave room a real education and growth outside of a publicist, outside of the pandemonium most adults have trouble dealing with.

Indeed, despite the insinuation that she regularly visits a tutor, what of the lessons money can’t buy- like studying for a paper with friends, being able to party without fifty minders circling the premises, meeting people who are interested in you for you and not what your fame can offer.

Either way, here’s hoping Willow proves her critics wrong and grows us to be as level headed as her parents who seem to have everything under control.

But what do you think?

Is it too much too soon?

    yeahright

for what it’s worth, you’re just as famous as the last one hit wonder anyways.

This is really sad! This child is what 10 or 11? She needs to be a child who is raissed by responsible parents. She is far to young to have this sort of dilemma! The Smith’s need to start parenting before she becomes the next Lindsay Lohan or Drew Barrymore (in rehab by the age of 12)!

  3. Shelly May 11, 2012

Ok, I love the Smith’s and I defend their letting their kids get into the industry if that is their passion, but if she does not want to be in the business and it is affecting her, this is when they should pull the plug. I say as long as the kid wants to do it , fine, but now they should pull the plug.

I’ve said having her in show business is a huge mistake at her age. Be young and care free girl, you have your entire life to step back into this if you’d like. You know the saying…all that glitters ain’t gold.

    Willow your not famous.

Your parents are hanging on to their fame by a single thread.

Don’t worry boo nobody gives a s*** about you.

    Sorry but it’s the truth.

    Now Where is Barbra Walters?

  6. @ItsDonavonFOOLS May 11, 2012

    Erm…
    She’s not famous
    Her parents are…

  7. Trena May 11, 2012

Um for everyone that says that she is not famous, what is your definition of fame? She is definitely more famous than any of us. That sounds like hater talk. Regardless of what you all think is fame, Im sure nobody knows you all are and if you say the name Willow Smith, you know who she is. Her singing career may not be all that but regardless if she does nothing, she is still famous from her bloodline. Plus I dont see how Will and Jada are hanging on by a single thread. Will Smith’s net work is 215 million and Jada’s is 20 million. Thats a combined 235 million. Now if thats hanging on by a thread then I wanna hang with that!! Get your info straight ppl and stop being judgemental when you are not even on the same level.

Your wish came true because you ain’t famous, b****! DEAD @ these c-list celebrities.

  9. aynon May 11, 2012

Why are people insulting an 11 year old….Pathetic people

yes I’m talking to you GILBERTO, I JUDGE FLOPS

  10. Trena May 11, 2012

My thoughts exactly Aynon. Thats why so many young celebs go crazy or get into drugs because of the pressure and cruelness of ppl.

  11. Gilberto May 11, 2012

WTH? She isn’t famous. Neither I’m lying nor shading this basic b****.

  12. ENOUGH ONIKA May 11, 2012

@GILBERTO Are you 11? If not, why are you calling this child a b****? You acting like you jealous of an 11. I hope an grown ass adult doesn’t bully your kids (or turn out like you). Please find the nearest bridge, hold hands with the rest of the low life bullies and don’t hesitate.

  13. Jessica May 11, 2012

@Gilberto: Dude, you need to see a medical doctor, you must have real low self esteem about insulting a 11 year old child. Is your life that pathetic that you have to come on that grape juice just to get ” famous?” LMAO!!! Gilberto, YOUR A NOBODY!!! HAS BEYONCE CONTACTED YOUR BASIC ASS YET?? MOST LIKELY NOT!!! Gilberto- Willow is famous- WILL SMITH AND JADA SMITH CHILD- B****!!! GO CRAWL UNDER A ROCK AND SULK THERE!! STUPID!!!

  14. JER May 11, 2012

    ho down

  15. Gilberto May 11, 2012

    People are so dramatic.
She isn’t famous. DEAL. She isn’t even on Kim Kardashian’s level of fame.

  16. Gilberto May 11, 2012

P.S. I regreat callin’ her a b**** – it was completly inappropriate – but she isn’t THAT famous. She isn’t on Beyoncé, Rihanna, Britney, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Katy, Jay-Z’s level of fame to start complain about it. AND if she doesn’t want to be famous anymore, then she should quit!

  17. ENOUGH ONIKA May 11, 2012

@GILBERTO Much respect at you admitting you were wrong for that comment. I understand what you are saying as well. She’s not as big as the stars you have listed, but she still is what we consider a public figure. She can’t go to the park, downtown, mall etc without the constant attention and at times paparazzi, and I think that’s what she means by famous. She just wants to be a regular 11 YO. And regardless if she sings or not, she’s still a Smith…

  18. josh May 11, 2012

shes not that famous anyways…. not like anyone made her do music and all.. she says its what she loves to do…

Sounds spoiled and selfish to me.

    Back out now willow.

  19. badgirl May 12, 2012

ummmm, she’s been on Ellen, I’d say that she’s famous enough, gtfoh talkin’ about she’s not famous.

  20. GREG May 12, 2012

You have to remember just because you arent interested in her or her music doesnt mean shes not famous. Reality is she is famous just because of her father, i mean really, she looks like Will Smith with a wig on…

  21. HeavyHeavy May 12, 2012

well the first Smith kid did well living a normal life the other two could of done the same. BUT NO they wanted to be in the public eye!! Deal with the consequences, you can’t have everything. Will and Jada should of waited until they were 18, let them see the industry behind the scenes first so they know what exactly they are getting into.

Poor Willow, Jaden seems to be handling it well though.

  22. IV. May 12, 2012

Clearly none of you dumb ass idiots watched the videos…

Oh and Willow Smith is famous. The fact that you bums are commenting on her post hating proves that.
