Today sees Eve‘s long-awaited LP ‘Lip Lock’ strut its way into US stores.
The comeback collection is the fiery femcee’s first studio album in over ten years and has, itself, been in the making for almost seven.
In a bid to leave no promo stone unturned, the ‘She Bad Bad’ rapper stopped by Hot 97 radio today to chat about the album, how love saw her move to London, and her Fetish clothing line. And while largely laid-back, the interview certainly had its “moments” particularly when the topic of ex boyfriend Stevie J (of Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta fame) was brought up. Let’s just say Ms. Jeffers proved that she’s still all sorts of Philly.

EvE is cool, but in my opinion, she is setting herself up for failure this time around. Her style is on point, but she brought nothing new to the table this time around. If Nicki aint s*** else…she is creative. (Still don’t care for her)
The only way other female rappers can prosper is if they all bring something new to the table that even Nicki hasn’t even done yet. Nicki has made it clear that she knows she’s the best and is comfortable representing female rap alone… Lip Lock is gonna flop like nothing I’ve ever seen, but I still got love for her.
Nicki is not creative.
She just used the blueprint set by previous female rappers like Lil Kim and Missy Elliott, mixed the style up and impressed the kids.
What exactly did Kim and Missy have to do with my opinion? EVERYONE and their mother knows that Nicki is a clone/copycat of KIM. What does that have to do with creativity? I’m talking about her Rapping style. I’m talking about how she blends pop with rap to appeal to a broader audience.
In my opinion (again), she unoriginal yet ingenious and resourceful. She may have Kims hand me down tools, but it’s obvious she knows how to uses them better. No disrespect to Kim. Kim obviously paved the way.
I’m just being honest. Not saying I’m spitting facts. These are all my opinions of Nicki….and yet I don’t like her.
Hey, why don’t yal’ll peep the album before hating on it? She put these b****** on the MAP over a DECADE ago, and this album is SIIICCCKKK!!! Featuring Missy Elliott, Dawn Richard, Pusha T, Juicy J, Cobra Starship, & more. Cut the chick some slack, she did absolutely NO PROMO for this album, so no doubt it will not do very well… But still, its a GREAT album, check it out and relax!

Eve came back for her fan everyone knows lyrically shes a lot better than Nicki Minaj her album may not sell but shes true to her craft and her work. Thanks (For Supporting Lip Lock) Eve warned us that she’s using a bit more Pop & Reggae to it. You right it does have the same formula as Nicki but Eve lyrically is much better… I like Nicki but Eve is a lot better.
