Brandy paid a visit to The Arsenio Hall Show last night, where she dished on her latest acting gigs, Whitney Houston, and – most notably – her plans for her new album.
With many a change having taken place in her personal life recently, it appears B-Rocka is keen to draw from the situation on the hotly anticipated project.

Exciting! ‘Two Eleven’ remains a favourite of ours. As such, we can’t wait to hear what she’ll cook up this go round. Here’s hoping it’s something that boasts a similar soulfulness, but with an added commercial kick – as radio-friendliness remains oh so important in such a competitive climate.

Oh no! No hate! I love the classy Miss Brandy BUT to call her the Vocal Bible when she only has a 2.5 octave range is not accurate. Almost an insult to vocalist of the past that can boast 4-6 octaves…
Brandy has 3.5 octaves. Her range is B2-E6. You can have 20 octaves, but if you can’t utilize your voice to its fullest extent, it’s irrelevant. Listen to the Full Moon CD and get lost in her harmonies, vocal arrangements and runs that she arranged herself…not producers or composers. Stephy you’re not an idiot. You know that octaves aren’t everything.

Oh I see… Well, range isn’t everything. See Christina Aguilera and how she abused her voice 🙁 I think it’s the way she utilises her voice and makes sounds with them as opposed to just rotely singing notes that makes her special. Personally, I actually think the title, ‘Vocal Bible’ holds more weight on paper than ‘The Voice’ or ‘Songbird’ Supreme etc. When you think Bible, you think of this book that contains all the secrets and lessons of whatever field in question. Brandy is very niche and is most famous for runs and intricate harmonies. I dunno, correct me if I’m wrong but I think she has difficulty recreating those stunning album tracks live unlike the likes of Whitney whose studio recordings were overshadowed by live showings.

I love how you guys post all of these singers in EVERY brandy post that refers to her as the vocal bible. You can turn on urban radio at ANY given moment and hear Brandy influences. From her harmonies, to her runs to her tone, sooooo many singers have tried to imitate her. “Angel In Disguise” pretty much laid the foundation for today’s ethereal/moody music. A lot of singers and producers listen to Brandy for inspiration from Beyoncé, to Rihanna, to Kanye West, to Ariana Grande to Jhene to Dawn Richard to Kendrick Lamar to Chris Brown to Kanye West to Frank Ocean on down. You don’t have to like Brandy, but her influence is undeniable.

Keep doing your thing Brandy! I will always support your music. To this day, I don’t understand the Brandy hate. People act like it’s a sin to recognize her talents. Calling Brandy the vocal bible doesn’t in any way diminish the talents and accomplishments of others. Did you all ever think your negative responses are coming from your own insecurities?
How could you not like this woman? People think being real means being rowdy, loud, and obnoxious. That’s just not true. You can be an authentic person with integrity, and be bubbly, warm, and sweet. That’s just the kind of person she is. But just like her music/voice, I guess she’s not for everybody.
