Has Azealia Banks started a movement?

Indeed, after gaining support in the form of Solange Knowles, Nicki Minaj, and more regarding her disapproval of rapstress Iggy Azalea’s status in hip-hop, more and more are coming out of the woodwork to do the same.

As we speak, a thing or two about hip hop culture is being shared by ‘Vivrant Thing’ rapper Q-Tip via a lengthy Twitter tirade aimed at the Aussie hitmaker.

Are you missing the action? It awaits below:

Someone please tell this has been to jogg on

    • Janice December 20, 2014

Jog where? Instead of telling him to jog on, why not ask yourself why all these people have so much to say about her. Wait, you can’t do that because you’re incapable of understanding things that don’t affect you.

      • Wtf December 20, 2014

Ask your selfs if this has been happening for years then why only bring it up when a successful white woman is doing her thing the word jealousy comes to mind if this was such a big problem then why not speak up before tell me.

    • CATFISH CAREY December 20, 2014

HAS BEEN? BXTCH SHUT THE FXCK UP!

    • ashgino@gmail.com December 20, 2014

when hip hop was dominated by blacks, instead of educating society and uplifting blacks , hip hop was all about bling bling, b****** and h***, …now because rap and rnb are dead and all of the artists are scumming for money, they wanna attack Iggy,…fuc outta here

      • jj December 20, 2014

You’re clearly referring to the mainstream hip-hop trash iggy jumped on. It’s the equivalent of you saying pop music is all Katy Perry there for the Beatles (who were one of the first pop groups) are trash because that’s what pop music is. Real hip-hop started from a social justice movement, it’s supposed to have meaning and powerful messages. F*** outta here with that ignorant s***, educate yourself because you clearly have no idea what real hip-hop is, just like iggy.

    • You tried December 20, 2014

Who is this CREEP! These weak ass fools coming at IGGY LIKE LIL B****es!

      • Cupid December 20, 2014

It’s truly sad. It’s like “hey, let’s attack Iggy for some attention”

  2. Maxie December 20, 2014

But he just said this to her.

  3. LaLopez December 20, 2014

Something has to be done to protect this racist girl!

  4. New classic December 20, 2014

Glad to see everyone turn into maya Angelou all of a sudden. THE PROBLEM IS NOT IGGY AZALEA THE PROVLEM IS THE WHITE MEDIA PICKING THINGS APART. Idk why y’all keep lookin at her for black support. SHES NOT EVEN AMERICAN GET OFF HER D***.

  5. Bey-Minaj December 20, 2014

OMG someone is trying to blackmail Nicki. I bet its Safaree. Look at her tweets

  6. Beysus December 20, 2014

    DRAG THIS B****

  7. Everyone’s A Critic December 20, 2014

The bish raps.. Get over it. It would be worse if she rapped about socio political topics but she raps about pop crap. Her music has nothing to do with black culture, she doesn’t even have rap collaborations. They should leave iggy alone and bring the drama to the people labelling her hip-hop. She’s just a woman living her dreams and NOT hurting nobody. As a BLACK boy, I have to say that this fixation black artists have on iggy is RACIST on out behalf. Totally out of order

  8. Applause December 20, 2014

Damn won’t be surprised if Iggy is on Taylor swift status next year. Everyone’s talking about her and she’s already becoming a household name.

    • Mariana Del Rey December 20, 2014

Not quite, Taylor was talented so her music and talent carried her and everyone agreed Kanye was wrong.
People are saying Iggy is a racist and have PROOF to back it up.

      • Jamie December 20, 2014

Leave it to a lana del rey fan to think Taylor is talented lol

      • xedos December 20, 2014

Kanye was not wrong. can you name that Taylor song that won best female video without google it.? Single ladies video is an iconic video that people will remember and talk about 20 yrs from now cannot say the same about Taylor’s video

      • Cupid December 20, 2014

We’ve all made racist remarks and jokes. You’re just nit picking along with everyone else

    • Taylor swifts number 1 fan!! December 20, 2014

@xedos…. Not really.. It’s a video of 3 dancers… That’s all. The video has nothing to do with the song, while Taylor’s did, and has a message as well. Taylor’s video tells a story, and relates to the song, while Beyoncés doesn’t. Yeah it’s a good dance routine, but nothing more.

also you ask if people can name the song that won best female video, when clearly it’s best video, not song.

      • InnerRise December 20, 2014

Idiot! The name of the song IS the exact same thing as the name of the video!

I wanna smack you right now!

      • Taylor swifts number 1 fan!! December 20, 2014

What the hell,… That doesn’t Make sense… Of course it’s going to be called the samethi g, but the content of the music video has NO relevance to the song at all.

A music video is suppose to tell the story of the song, that’s why taylor own and Beyoncé didn’t. I can believe people are still mad.

Did Gangnam style win any best video awards? Because that sure has hell is the most successful and most viewed music video of all time… But no..

      • InnerRise December 20, 2014

        Yeah……you’re dumb.

Whether they ask for the song name or video name, the answer will be the same so it doesn’t matter what they asked for!

They are one and the same you fruit loop dingus!

      • FAF December 20, 2014

and you gotta understand Beyonce’s was a rip off of Bob Fosse

Taylor swift like her or not writes her own music and plays guitar = TALENT

      • Taylor swifts number 1 fan!! December 21, 2014

Not really, a great video doesn’t haven’t have to be a Famous song…

  9. Juliana December 20, 2014

Look how people react when black people speak out against how they’re treated.]

    “You moan too much.”
“Racism is all in your head.”
“But don’t you kill each other?”

They use black criminals to make generalizations about all of us so they can stop themselves from feeling sorry for us when something bad happens to us. Now that they know we’re on to their tricks they’re getting uneasy. Buckle up b******, because RACISTS are going down.

Like my mom told me, white people are not the problem, racists are.

  10. KERI December 20, 2014

PPL ARE ANGRY ABOUT MIKE BROWN AND TAKING IT OUT ON OUTBACK IGGY LETS TAKE THIS UGLY WHITE DEVIL DOWN

    • Pink pony December 20, 2014

That’s not the reason people are coming after her so stop it

  11. Everyone’s A Critic December 20, 2014

Smh at all this contradiction. I SEE the point but it’s like saying.. Hip-hop is ours, you can’t have it. Just like how white people used to say, these are our schools, homes, women, politics, restaurants… BLACK PEOPLE CANT HABE THAT

    • Well damn December 20, 2014

Well you shut the fxck up!!! you stupid a** biitch!!!

  15. LB December 20, 2014

Isn’t Mr Q-Tip Mr one hit wonder with one of my fav songs in the 90s/early 2000s breathe and stop? Gurl sit down.

Yes I agree, Hip Hop is a way to express social economic issues, only few rappers still do that today, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Eminem (to some extent), T.I (to some extent) and Lacrae.

Hip hop is also a form of artistic expression, look at Azealia Banks, again Kanye West, Drake.

Hip Hop has also been watered down and lost meaning, I mean look at Lil’ Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Jay Z, Iggy Azealia, Juicy J, Schoolboy Q, Tyga, 2 Chainz, Wiz Khalifa, Flo Rida, Pitbull and many of those other “rent-a-rapper” who have been quiet on this whole issue.

So yes, you do have a point on some issues but I feel like you are the last person who should say this.

    • LEGENDARY BIITCHES December 20, 2014

Hoee please STFU. You dont know a damn thing about Hip Hop. Q Tip isnt a one hit wonder n Hip Hop. Please do your research, before u open up that mouth of yours. #DumbHooes

  16. SarcasticSandra December 20, 2014

Poor Iggy!!!! I have no idea why all these random black people have a problem with her.
Keep your head up Iggy, you are innocent!
    You’ve never said anything racist.
You never said you would get further than Azealia because you’re tall and white and the reason your label spends millions on you is because you’re TALENTED, not because you’re white.

Let them hate on you sis but in the end you will win.

    • LEGENDARY BIITCHES December 20, 2014

Biitch Q Tip isnt a random black person. Iggy will never mean nothing to Hip Hop like Q Tip!

    • jj December 20, 2014

Clearly you haven’t seen her racist, transphobic, homophobic, and other bigotry she says on twitter. Innocent my ass.

      • rita ora can win a oscar December 20, 2014

who azealian banks? YES, I have just seen all her racist tweets from 2010.

  17. Trina Stan December 20, 2014

Her career and nickis is ending before our eyes lol yes

  18. idgi December 20, 2014

Why are all these people using Iggy as a scapegoat like she’s the problem with the world? Why single her out?

    • MadameBeyBey December 20, 2014

Because she keeps making racially charged comments. Notice that she hasn’t responded to Kid Fury after he exposed her today?

      • idgi December 20, 2014

Wait has she said something recently because im not going back years for something she has apologised for already

      • rita ora can win a oscar December 20, 2014

Can kid fury PROVE she said this? has he got her recorded?

  19. Cali Cutie December 20, 2014

Its hilarious people acting like Iggy is the issue the issue is within society she’s not even from the states. Yall attacking the wrong person this is deeper than hip hop.

  20. LEGENDARY BIITCHES December 20, 2014

Poor Iggy cant get any respect in the genre she love. The problem isnt Iggy, she just living her dreams. Fancy, BW and BFI are all catchy songs. So they were bound to be a hit. The media is the problem! Calling her Queen of this and that. The fact that she has 3 hit songs and the white media calling her Queen and hasnt hit Gold yet, SCREAMS GTFOHWTFBS! Nicki first album sold 5 times more than The Classic and she didnt see all the praise Iggy is seeing. Blacks are just tired of whites doing our music and they end up going 5x times platnuim and the black artist barely goes gold.

  21. Pink pony December 20, 2014

Iggy should have just publicly apologized for those racist tweets

  22. Grillz and Welfare Checks ! December 20, 2014

All these Ni99as are HATING on this white girl, like she’s a member of the KKK or something. It’s starting to look pathetic.

  23. LEGENDARY BIITCHES December 20, 2014

If Iggy get a grammy for The Classic, shiit will hit the fan!

  24. Bitchplease December 20, 2014

The more you hate on Iggy the bigger she gets! Arena tour tickets selling like hot cake right now and y’all stay seething. Lmfao

    • jj December 20, 2014

      B**** please.

    • rita ora can win a oscar December 20, 2014

I have noticed. A whole bunch of white kids are on her twitter, saying they copped tickets to her TOUR

      STAY MAD BLACK WOMEN.

  25. Mother Miley December 20, 2014

Sad thing is all this hate makes her more relevant and well known. This definitely ain’t hurting her cash flow.

    • rvs89 December 20, 2014

Why do people think Nicki on the internet puching her computer keys to get some twitter buzz right now lol.

  26. back to school December 20, 2014

    a guy. a gal.

and that oldschool hiphop is cool on the streets and all but does it sell big? that’s what it’s about these days. guys rapping about hip, style and b*tches and b*tches rapping about hip, style and guys. the better drama. the political out of it. those who can, they can. who can’t sell it can hop of the cliff.

    have a nice weekend.

  27. King M.J December 20, 2014

Stfu. I swear, I want Iggy to keep on winning so bad. This hate is extremely unnecessary.

  28. xedos December 20, 2014

N***** do more to destroy hip hop than iggy. look on Bobby shumurda and all these guns. Qtip and his community has bigger problem than Iggy. Look how white people taking over Harlem and Brooklyn and he cannot do s*** about it. The problem in the black community was here before Iggy and it will be there after her. lots if these producer are hypocrites they can’t wait to run to work with white artist. Look how much of them run to work with Miley ? They talk s*** ,but as the white man dangle a few dollars before them they break ranks and forget all the pro black s***

  29. OMG Logic!!! December 20, 2014

I’m just wondering when a White musician is going to have a twitter tirade over how popular music came to be thanks to WHITE Symphonies popularized in the Victorian era of Europe. Oh but that would be racist because music is for everybody right? God forbid a White artist claim a genre the way Blacks do day in and day out.

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

      1. How exactly does your comment relate to Q-Tip comments? Hint: they don’t.

      2. Are you suggesting that American music forms (The Spirituals, Jazz, Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Rock and Roll, Dance, and Hip Hop has their origins in European music? If so, you’ll need to fully explain this.

  30. B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

Look, Iggy will NEVER have the status of Tip or A Tribe Called Quest, so let’s not. He also just wrote a song for D’Angelo latest critical masterpiece “Black Messiah.”

Simple. If Iggy simply declared herself a pop artist, a long the lines of Pitbull or Flo Rida, no one would care. The reason people have a problem with her is because she is being sold as a hip hop artist when there is NOTHING hip hop about her. Plus, her minstrel tendencies only hurt her credibility.

What’s really disgusting about her is that she gets upset when people call her out on her white privilege, yet it has just been confirmed by @kid fury that she, herself, has acknowledged that her being “tall and white” benefits her.

I will never feel sorry for her. This is the bed she created years ago. You want to reinforce stereotypes about various minority groups, you want to recite (because she doesn’t write) racist lyrics, you want to co-op elements of hip hop and white wash it for your benefit, you want to go from Australia to the trap with that horrible accent, you have to deal with criticism.

    She is NOT a victim.

  31. I STAN(D) FOR TALENT December 20, 2014

I don’t that igloo tramp, but that was unnecessary. This never-been rapper shouldn’t have wasted his time, but I guess he needed the attention.

Anyway, I can’t wait for the AnonMessage group of hackers to leak Igloo’s shiit and destroy her forever. This female vanilla ice is done. She better pack her bags and save herself the embarrassment.

    • rita ora can win a oscar December 20, 2014

It is not the real anonymous and they just admitted they don’t have s*** on her.

    • rita ora can win a oscar December 20, 2014

That is not the real anonymous. I have just been on their twitter and MTV picked the story and NOW, they are scared; they’re back peddling and demanding MTV change the title; they NOW claim they did not MEAN it that way HA,

HA IGGY team put out a story out a story about her EX older BF use to abuse her. THE JOKE on you and that nappy broke bum A banks. Looks like Anon message ( the fake one ) WILL BE DESTROYED. That is what u get when u mess with the big boyz.

    • rita ora can win a oscar December 20, 2014

NOPE. I just bought tickets VIA American express and they said she is 70% sold out on the tour and it went on sale yesterday.

She is not going anywhere. Destroy her? THIS HAS MADE HER TEH NEW TAYLOR SWIFT. That twitter group have NOW BACKED DOWN, WHEN MTV got invloed. LOL LOL

Thanks Azealian BANKS for making IGGY on her way to an ICON LIKE EM

      Great Xmas present.

  32. Jamie December 20, 2014

I’m in no way shape or form an Iggy fan. I simply ignore her and her music. However, in all fairness, if you’re going to target her, then you need to target Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Justin Bieber, and so many others who try and venture into/get credit for the Hip-hop/Urban culture to garner credibility. In my opinion, there are barriers in music but when it comes to Iggy, I feel the issue lies deeper than what people are saying.

  33. kp December 20, 2014

I am so sick of these ignorant. Art releasing no career having b****** coming for Iggy. She at the top.Did they “school” Eminem…hell no ignorant b******

  34. eric December 20, 2014

These same artists attacking Iggy support Jay-Z, Kanye and other rap & hip-hop artists whose lyrics and hedonistic views do nothing to help blacks aspire toward a responsible way of living. Where is Q-Tip’s rant against Jay-Z? Why isn’t Q talking directly to anyone who glorifies gangs and criminal activity if he feels so strongly about it? People are a joke and need to leave Iggy alone.

  35. DanYiel Teflon December 20, 2014

I still like Iggy Azaelas music!! Folks hating her for what?

  36. IGGY December 20, 2014

Black rappers get mad cos they own don’t want to support them on buying their music. White people don’t get mad when black people don’t buy their music, no, cos white people support their fav artists by buying singles and albums, that’s why Iggy is big in the rap game. Have a seat and discuss this thing amongst your own culture and leave Iggy alone. Blame black people for not supporting you. Cos if they did radio would have seen that on iTunes on where ever people like this music and would catch up with it. White people don’t have privileges, its common knowledge that people get successful with support, which is with money. Black people should open their wallets and shut their mouths. And if that won’t work, then we can discuss this matter further.

  37. rita ora can win a oscar December 20, 2014

This rapper had that breathe and stop video and ONLY CASTED MIXED AND RED BONE WOMEN WITH WEAVES LIKE WHITE GIRLS

iggy BLOCK HIM AND KEEP IT MOVING.

  38. rita ora can win a oscar December 20, 2014

THIS is her tAYLOR SWIFT. THIS IS THE BEST thing to happen to IGGY cos NOW WHITE ARE GONNA LET HER pop……..offf

  39. blue December 20, 2014

black rappers have created an cemented a stereotype of their own people now they want to blame it on iggy when they cant seem to shake it.

Fact is when it sold it was A okay now that your own people arent buying your crap you wanna cry foul that a white artist is selling to white people and they buying.

The probled isnt the white media, they are doing what a community does which is support its own. The problem is that even if they destroy iggy black people still wont buy music

    • Mary Mary Why You Buggin’ December 20, 2014

But nobody is going to destroy Iggy tho. She will continue to benefit from her white privilege.

In fact, like @rita ora can win a oscar said, Iggy will now become a perfect victim. See, the “evil” black people are ganging up on her for NO reason at all. She will become the new Taylor Swift. You know, white women in America have a history of becoming false victims, which resulted to thousands in lynchings. History always repeats itself.

      You got to love America.

      • blue December 20, 2014

        you are right.

I actually agree with what this rappers are trying to say, and i would be on their side 100% if it was generalised and if they were challenging other rappers guilty of feeding this negative image of blacks and killing real hip hop.

      • rita ora can win a oscar December 20, 2014

ALL that will happen, is now, BLACK women have made it HARDER for themselves to get record reals.

They have proven that they cannot sell

        They are not marketable

        They are troublemakers

        They are racist

        They are unprofessional

BLACK WOMEN just shot themselves in the fool. NOW, they got a rapper from SOUTH KOREA called CL; watch her blow up

    • rvs89 December 20, 2014

      Truth

  40. blue December 20, 2014

black americans are Ther own west enemies, if you want change, change the image that your own people/media sent out.

Look at black produced tv shows and movies.
You have the mad black women, the loser-drugdealer-schoodropout, you have the sob college educated light skin, you have big mama and the single struggling mom, or if they wanna switch it up its the single dad who to everyones shock actually raises his own kids.

    • ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 20, 2014

      Bingo!

  41. InnerRise December 20, 2014

    Black people are so mean.

    Leave Iggy alone!

Ya’ll are being kany pest and treating her like Taylor swish.

Except Iggy doesn’t need ya’ll’s help! She’s already made it, betch!

  42. rita ora can win a oscar December 20, 2014

LOL LOL at blacks. A lot of these BLACK MEN who are coming for iggy are DOING IT cos she turned them down. ABOUT 2013 OR late 12, she said that SO many ‘ KNOWN’ men in the music game were sending the publicist to try and holla at her, but she turned them down

  43. ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 20, 2014

OMG black people can do the MOST!! It’s f*ckin MUSIC! Now all these has beens that “black” people aren’t even supporting got some irrelevant black sh*t to say like she’s the cause or solution to anything. How about people tweet Bobby Shmurda and every other black rapper to stop promoting violence and drugs in the black community?? That’s a bigger issue to me than a white b*tch doing rap, but Oh be we’re ok with that type of rap because “blacks” made it right? SO F8ckin stupid. instead of working hard and getting an education to get out the ghetto and become MORE than just basketball players, rappers, etc. y’all f*ckin worried about a white b*tch from Australia acting as dumb as most rappers and being FAKE like most too. Black people have WAY MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES to focus on, starting with black on black crime no one wants to talk about or even the racism within black community itself. But its easier to point the finger outward right? GTFO

  44. rvs89 December 20, 2014

For years hip hop fans have been complaining about the genres turn for the worst and yet now they complain. Like 2 chains solja boy young thug and countless other bs acts that have played a major role in its Nicki Wayne drake hip hop allows drake to act like a thug and portray something he isn’t. This Iggy debate kills me.

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

What are you talking about NOW?! The Rock N Roll inducted Legend Chuck D has been talking about this for years. The brilliant KRS-1 has been talking about this for years.

You know the difference between 2 Chains, Soulja Boy and Young Thug and Iggy is? Nobody attempted to anoint 2 Chains, Soulja, and Young Thug the 2nd coming in hip hop like they are doing with Iggy. She represents the same mindless, ignorant music as 2 Chains and Soulja Boy (Young Thug is a bit more complicated). But she is treated, without merit, as a real hip hop artist. She isn’t. Period. Her catalogue is garbage and she should be judged accordingly just like ever other garbage rapper.

Along with her lack of rap ability, she ushers in a new form of minstrelsy.

This is simple. Why are people having a hard time understanding why people are criticizing her?

      • rvs89 December 20, 2014

I don’t have a hard time in fact I agree with u. But like I said black women come in the industry bleach their skin, get blonde wigs contacts and portray themselves as what Barbies , bad b****** , all these thibgs black men in the industry date what? White women anything really other than black. My whole thing is I clearly get it but at the end of the day it seems to me like someone is being crucified for thriving in an environment where they been waitig for her. She is home she fits right in as a matter of fact seems like the others have been trying to be her all along. Swithcing their sounds to be exactly what comes natural to her. If u ask me hip hop had this coming and they deserve it.

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

@rvs89, our comments will starting getting very skinny soon so I won’t say too much but I’m really feeling your comment on many different levels.

A few quick observations: 1) Lil Kim’s “conversion” on The Notorious K.I.M. 2) The presentation of Nicki on Pink Friday.

What if we take black men out of the equation. Why do black women feel the need to bleach their skin, wear contacts, wear blond wigs etc….? Where do you think this is coming from? I think it may have to do with the ways in which black people, in general, are devalued all over the world so some artist feel compelled to “correct” themselves in order to have a shot at mainstream success. I don’t know. I just think your comment is rich. It adds a deeper layer to the discussion.

Or, if you think black men are at the center of these choices, I would like to hear more about that as well.

  45. vibe December 20, 2014

Wow they are really coming for her poor thing…… I’m sure she knew this was gonna happen before she went for this career…. I just hope she’s strong enough too come out of this a winning

  46. B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

Many of you are giving me African Americans should start wearing “Don’t Get Pregnant at 14” t-shirts instead of #blacklivesmatters Bill O’ Riley teas.

Let’s be smarter please. Attempting to change the conversation is lazy.

If you support the garbage dump that is Iggy, knock yourselves out. But don’t think you must support her by pointing to irrelevant issues (i.e. education, black-on-black crime, etc…) in order to do so. That has NOTHING to do with the valid criticism that she is receiving.

Now, if you would like to have to conversation about hip hop in general, let’s do that. If you think eduction, black-on-black crime, etc…is connected to hip-hop, let’s talk about that. But it”s ridiculous to launch that discussion when discussing Iggy’s documented prejudice, racism, denial of white privilege. These are separate issues.

    • ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 20, 2014

And how many black rappers call white people “whitey’s” or “crackers?” Let’s not act like shoe isn’t the same on the other foot. This is yet another issue black people want to feel victimized by instead of taking responsibility or accountability. How many of you on TGJ buy these so called “real rappers” music?? Half the time y’all are so quick to yell “FLOP” at your own people than actually go out and spend that $9.99 at Target! Tank just said it but once again, when the finger is pointed at the lack community, Tank is the problem. GTFO and be the change your whining you want to see “white” people do

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

I listen to Common, Black Milk, Pharoahe Monch, Homeboy Sandman, and REKS so can’t say how many “black rappers call white people “whitey’s” or “crackers?”

They’re addressing other issues. Also “whitey” or “cracker” simply don’t hold the same historical weight as “n*****” or boasting about being a “s**** master.” White people being called “whitey” or “cracker” do not affect social, political, educational, and economic institutions in the United States of America. Never have. Now, n***** on the other hand…..it has an explicit history involved in these institutions.

What, exactly, does this have to do with the criticism of Iggy again?

      • ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 20, 2014

So basically, like most black people, you’re saying it’s ok for black to be prejudice, racists and hateful just because of “historic” reasons..Build a bridge and get over that f*ckin c*on mind set. Like I said, BE the change YOU want to see. Excusing racism on either side won’t bring about that change

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

“So basically, like most black people, you’re saying it’s ok for black to be prejudice, racists and hateful just because of “historic” reasons..”

Nope. That’s not what I said at all. What I said is white people being called “whitey” or “cracker” does not carry the same historical weight as black people being called “n*****” as in being called “whitey” or ” cracker” has NOT affected “social, political, educational, and economic institutions in the United States of America. Never have.” The word “n*****,” however, has absolutely affected social, political, educational, and economic institutions in the United States of America” because the term was at the center of white supremacist ideology built within these institutions.

        Is that now clear?

      • ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 20, 2014

Yet rapper call each other n*ggers in every song. Blacks use it as if it’s a period to their sentence yet want to use “history” and “how wrong it is” when someone of another race uses it as well. BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE. You don’t want to hear the word n*gger being used to describe blacks, STOP USING THE F*CKIN WORD THEN! Hypocrisy once again..

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

Do you see just how far you’ve ventured away from the topic?

So, you’ve graduated from “but what about black-on-black crime” to “yet rapper call each other n*ggers in every song.”

Your replies are a series of deflections. Yeah, we’re done. I appreciate your attempt at trying to discuss these issues but I think we’ve reached a crossroads.

Please, continue to support Iggy. I will continue to rightfully criticize her.

        Peace.

  47. rvs89 December 20, 2014

Im not an Iggy fan I just don’t understand the surprise factor. Lol shits been moving this way all along. Blame your favs for doing it and blame u the fans for allowing it

  48. Blue Ivy Rodriguez December 20, 2014

Black on black crime is a stupid term. If there are more blacks in an area than any other race then what are the chances of it NOT being black on black?

White people commit crimes against themselves, Hispanics do as well and so do Asians, etc. why are they not a thing? Oh maybe it’s because it doesn’t make any sense. That type of thinking is spreading a narrative that consists of making blacks look, sound and come off as unruly or thuggish. That is not fair nor is it logical to base this issue as “oh these irrelevant black rappers are just mad at her winning”. The issue isn’t with Iggy trying to be a hip pop artist, it’s that all these outlets on social and economic medians are trying to label her as the best thing that came out since sliced bread. She is being celebrated as the queen without having the credentials or sales to back it up. They did the same thing with JT, tried to compare him to MJ when he’s nowhere near the success or has the talent of MJ. This is what racism is, to benefit from a system of economic and societal factors that were designed to cater, support and glorify the ones it defends.

    • ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 20, 2014

OMG please. “They did the same thing with JT, tried to compare him to MJ when he’s nowhere near the success or has the talent of MJ.” Everyone in their right f*ckin mind knew JT could never touch MJ and no amount of “white” media was gonna make it seem other wise. Ariena gets compared to Mariah, Britney gets compared to Madonna, everyone gets compared so who cares. But how about when PEOPLE of all races praise Beyonce, Nicki, MJ, Rihanna for their music? Y’all trying to make it seem like black entertainers don’t get their just do just because the “whack ass” Grammy’s nominated Iggy’s lame music this year. People have been paying the Grammy’s and all these rigged award shows dust for years, these award don’t mean sh*t these days. But attacking this girl like she’s the mastermind behind this corrupt industry is f*ckin stupid.

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

No one is attacking her because they think she is the mastermind by the corrupt industry. On reason people are “attacking” her is because, unlike Eminem and Macklemore, she refuses to acknowledge that she benefits from its corruption.

        Eminem- “White America” 2002
Ryan & Macklemore- “White Privilege” 2005

Oh yeah, and they can actually rap. & Macklemore also admitted that Kendrick deserved that award, so….

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

Actually, I’m very much on topic. I addressed the fact that Iggy’s apologists are now following the same flawed logic as individuals who are confronted with legitimate claims of injustice (see those who speciously ask about “black-on-black crime” when discussing Oscar Grant, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, etc…)

I call attention to Iggy’s gross misappropriation of what she understands as “black” culture (one, mind you, that she clearly doesn’t understand) and people ask me “but what about black-on-black crime?”

@Blue Ivy Rodriguez was critiquing the flawed logic of these types of comments and I was co-signing his/her astute analysis.

        Do you follow now?

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

Uh, “black privilege” is not, nor will ever be, a real thing.

        Are you trolling?

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

      First of all, PREACH!

The “black-on-black crime” narrative is so unintelligent and exhausting. Every time black people speak out against legitimate injustices, someone always brings up “black-on-black crime” to deflect away from well thought of criticism. Eric garner was chocked to death on tape by the NYPD “but what about black-on-black crime?” 12 year old Tamir Rice was murdered in Cleveland by the police “but what about black-on-black crime?” Now, the criticism of Iggy has turned into people saying “but what about black-on-black crime?” It’s so lazy and irresponsible.

Like you said, and as I’ve been saying, this is about someone, once again, being anointed the second coming of hip hop when they do not have the catalogue to justify it. Simple & plain. And you are absolutely right about Justin Timberlake, the media tried to spin him (just like they are doing with Iggy) into being better than MJ (remember Rolling Stone magazine?) This is precisely how racism works.

      • ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 20, 2014

Typical victim bullsh*t. Here you go with all the “other” black issues then question me on”what it has to do with Iggy?” So typical, will bring up everything not dealing with the issue at hand to make it seem like you have a valid argument then again question someone else when they go off topic…

    • Que December 20, 2014

No one ever talks about white on white crime…

      • ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 20, 2014

No, y’all don’t pay attention to those crimes!

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

First, uh, “black privilege” is not, nor will ever be, a real thing.

        Are you trolling?

Secondly, any charges of racial discrimination against an employer has to be PROVEN in an AMERICAN court of law. Don’t know whether or not you’ve been paying close attention, but black Americans rarely win cases they bring in the court of law; thus, the protest you’ve seen across the country since August of 2014.

        Again, are you trolling?

      • ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 21, 2014

no YOU haven’t been paying attention. You watch what the MASS media puts out. Do your research and see the cases were JUSTICE IS SERVED and stopped being BRAINWASHED to stay in a S**** mindset, thinking your always oppressed.. Y’asll have let the media and entertainment fool you into believe your a victim and guess what? You’re doing EXACTLY what the want you to do. Go do YOUR research instead of bandwagoning all the d*mn time

    • Blue Ivy Rodriguez December 20, 2014

I’m not saying Iggy is the cause of all things bad or that black entertainers don’t get as much attention or their praise when it’s due. What am saying is that racism isn’t just about skin but about who benefits from a system. Iggy is being praised by others as this success when all she has is a single that charted in the top five for weeks. People always knock down other stars for only making hits and not selling albums so why put her on a pedestal and make her seem like she rapped with Jesus? The white media are always trying to “lighten” everything and whenever a white artist comes out to show their artistry, no matter how mediocre they are, they will be celebrated as the second coming.

On the black crime issue. I said that because it’s true, all these crimes matter, no crime is bigger than the other because someone in the world is crying. However, speaking about that does deflect from the issue of race and profiling. With the many cases that happened this year alone, it would seem that blacks have the perception of being labeled as criminals. We are seen as a collective rather than individuals. That’s why whites in the world can kill ppl in highschools or theatres and not labeled as “mass murderers”. Trust me I wish young people like mike brown were law abiding citizens but his death was unwarranted, he didn’t have to die because he stole some cigarillos. You all seen the pictures of Darren Wilson and his “injuries”, you seen how he was given the benefit of the doubt by his peers, and continued to vilify the victim even further. Now let me now when was the last time you heard “thug” from the troubled white person when they die.

Whenever you hear about a white person that kills you would see or hear headlines like “troubled t*** was straight A student” “man had serious mental problems before shooting” etc

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 20, 2014

        Very well said.

      • ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 20, 2014

And you don’t think blacks have “black privilege?” Pulling the racist card to me has become almost a tool to take advantage for some people (key word: some). Call your boss a racist, have a valid story and boom a lawsuit…

  49. Florida Evans December 20, 2014

Kendrick Lamar’s performance on The Colbert Report represents everything that hip hop is about and the spirit of Q-Tip’s words.

Iggy will never be that. She doesn’t have it in her. But it would be great to at least see her try.

Unearned praise is just not a good luck.

    • ENOUGH ONIKA (NEW & IMPROVED) December 20, 2014

Ok and? If Kendrick wants the same “attention” as Iggy (which I’m sure he doesn’t) put out top 40 hits!! Simple as that! Start catering to RADIO like Iggy and get the SAME attention. “REAL” hip hop will never be POP so why keep complaining that certain hip hop artists aren’t getting mass media attention. Iggy is POP. Nicki did what Iggy is doing and no one said sh*t. She played the game just like Iggy but then went back to her hip hop roots.

      • Florida Evans December 21, 2014

Huh? I never used the word “real.”

I simply stated that Kendrick Lamar’s performance represents the essence of what Q-Tip speaks of. That’s all.

Iggy runs hip hop, right. According to the American media, right? So I only suggested that she at least “tried” to make the best music that she supposedly is the best at?

My comment has nothing to do Kendrick becoming a pop artist. How did you get that from my comment? Wow.

why can’t a white man do jazz? why can’t a white women do hip hop+rap+pop? what the hell is going on in america? music is universal!
black people do edm do pop etc if it makes me feel good then i will listen to it that’s all!
and j cole what you say can definitely help you sell albums by black people that feel like victims so… :/
anyway i like your music (some of it…)

wtf do u want from her?

    • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare December 21, 2014

Did you read any of the comments? Seriously?

No.one.is.saying.that.Iggy.should.not.do.hip.hop. It is about her approach.

She is being crowned the best hip hop artist in America. People are taking issue with it. Also, she has said many questionable things in the past about minorities while profiting from a minority art form. This is why people are critically engaging her.

White men have been doing jazz forever.

White women do do hip hop (better than Iggy)

Black people have always done pop music (I think you are suggesting that white people invented pop. Sorry, they didnt). Just look at The Supremes and Dionne Warwick.

And no, J. Cole is not making black people feel like they are victims. He made an astute observation. One shared by other white rappers.

      • king December 21, 2014

lol like u never joked on other people wow all of you are so angels! she did apologise for the things she said when she was not even famous! alot of people say shity things! and if some want to call her the best this is their opinion! how the f*** you make her the worst thing in hip hop when most of it is about gold s** drinks and money?

  52. king December 21, 2014

why she will need a lesson? cuz she is white? :/

if there is a movement against hip hop songs that are considered trash then why go off the cliff just on #IggyAzalea ?

when you have so much more black artist that doing trash hip hop/rap and did this trash s*** long before #IggyAzalea came out

oh i forgot – she is a white chick ! people just grow the f*** up! music is universal!
