Born To Die started her career off, but then it turned into a curse. She will never release an album that can compel an audience like that album did. I just see her trying to be as good as her former self, but its all been fails. Ultraviolence was a fail, and so is this. She is officially a lessor to Lorde. I tried liking her recent music but its so try hard and un-relatable its honestly annoying how “woe is me and my life” is like her basis for her songs. All that promo for Yellow Flicker Beast and The Hunger Games soundtrack and not only did the song barely sell 100K with multiple televised performances and the second highest grossing movie of the year, but the soundtrack was the lowest selling of the franchise. All those attempts to “replace” her by the industry only for said replacement to be completely forgotten a year later. I kinda like that she did this as a single though honestly. I feel like it’s giving a taste of what some of the album will be like but I do think she could’ve chosen a better song since it’s the summertime and an uptempo song could propel her to the top of the charts and increase her chances of selling more albums but it’ll be a top 40 hit I bet.
