We’re pretty sure that’s a phrase being uttered by many-an-artist lining the Billboard’s Hot 100 for the past two weeks and will probably be for the next two years. Indeed, the elusive chanteuse returned with fury to the chart with a blockbuster comeback single ‘Hello’ – which set a first week sales record upon its premiere.
Now, three weeks in, the song still shows a slow decline in streaming and sales. Shifting an additional 480,000 this past week, it remains comfortably perched atop the tally. Elsewhere, courtesy of Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor, and relative newcomer Elle King, the Hot 100 finally gets a much needed dose of estrogen. We said the same thing last week due to Ariana Grande‘s promising premiere of ‘Focus’ at #7.
…well, that was then.

You better educate somebody up in here! Don’t forget that infamous Christmas classic not only slaying holiday radio stations every year, but also the Hot 100. She has enough royalties from that hit to live a comfortable life if she ever decided to give music up for good.
I really hope Ariana’s next single takes a huge risk musically and proves to the general public that she’s trying to get away from that generic, manufactured popstar persona. I didn’t expect the single to fall out of the top 10, but I guess it was expected since the Vevo views slowed down. I’m just so happy that “Where They From” made a healthy debut and “Ex’s and Oh’s” is now top 10 after hovering in the bottom for entirely too long. I hope both songs ascend next week. Let’s make Missy’s single top 40 by two weeks time, everyone. Watch the video constantly, stream the hell out of the song and buy the single on iTunes.

I can´t conceive how such a talentless product can have two songs in the top 10 nowadays (Beiber). Crap mainstream music industry we have now. Yes, thanks to Adele for everything, at least she has talent in abundance (although in an ideal world she wouldn´t deserve such huge success, compared to phenomenal artists who did it big in the past).

I don’t know why Ariana refuses to capitalize on the something she has that most singers today don’t… Her vocals. She has the talent but she’s reduced herself to chasing chart success. And she seems to value that over the quality of her music. I remember a while ago, an interview of her talking about how when she sings, her instincts tell her to sing with more r&b inflections but her songwriters and producers make it so that her songs are more catchy and radio friendly… And she thought that was a good thing! I hope this song continues to flop, just so she’ll have to change her strategy. Cause these forgettable, hit and run singles are not it.
She does capitalize on her vocals ummmm and She makes the music that her fans want to hear and her music has R&B undertones most of the time. Obviously she and her team are doing something right because she’s way more successful than her new popstar counterparts.
