New Video: Miguel – ‘Sky Walker (ft. Travis Scott)’

Published: Friday 25th Aug 2017 by Sam

Miguel serves up a slick slice of edgy R&B on ‘Sky Walker’ – his first solo release since 2015’s ‘Wildheart’ era.

Sans select features, the crooner has remained mum in the time since release of that LP. But, he’s back and ready to blaze with the Travis Scott assisted track.

However, he now not only has dropped a fresh song (which he co-produced with Happy Perez); he’s also unwrapped its accompanying video.

Watch the Director X helmed clip for ‘Sky Walker’ below…

Solid song, cool visual.

Glad to have Miguel back.

Cool song. Can’t help but compare it to Adorn. I think Miguel is trying to take the Beyonce and release something current/hip without much vocals. To be honest, I’d prefer a more R&B song with some soul. But I get the whole avoiding Adult contemporary thing for as long as possible.

You gotta have something radio friendly for people to vibe and sing along to. Trust the vocals and ballads will be on the album. lol let that man have a trendy single in piece please.

Saw him on tour with SIA, where he rearranged all his songs to sound POP. Audience wasn’t feeling it, I wasn’t feeling it…….Who is this guy? Seems like he’s still trying to Find his “sound”. He needs to MARCH out that closet, embrace his pop/rnb side and keep it moving

The song does a good job of chasing commercial pop trends (trap beat, Travis Scott feature, nonsensical party lyrics, mentions of “haters” etc. lol), and then indie trends that will appeal to the Pitchfork type fans he has gained the past 3 years (vaporwave synths, Soundcloud atmos./reverb, goofy Mac Demarco vibe, etc.). Very clever first single choice.

I wonder if it will finally be the top 40 hit he’s been after for a while now. I will say that I hate when people who CAN sing purposely downplay it and make it sound like they can’t, to keep up with the other non-singers on the radio.
