Diddy: Danity Kane Not Splitting

Diddy: Danity Kane Not Splitting With rumours about Danity Kane becoming almost a weekly occurrence, their label head/mentor Diddy has issued a statement reaffirming that the band are very much still together. Check out the report via Contact Music:

A spokesperson for SEAN COMBS has denied claims his pop girl group DANITY KANE is on the verge of a split to make way for the solo career of one of its members.
Combs has reportedly planned the break-out of 23-year-old Dawn Richard, causing tensions in the five-girl group.

A posting on a popular music website claims the hip-hop mogul “has been flying Dawn out from Baltimore to him for private meetings. And these meetings are preparing her to be the breakout star in a solo career. Apparently, Diddy believes she’s the most talented of the group, and the girls are pissy because they disagree.”

But Combs’ Atlantic Records spokeswoman Cara Donatto has denied the rumours, insisting the girls “absolutely” get along.

She says: “At no point was Dawn flown anywhere to record solo or meet alone with Diddy. The girls are still very much together. They’re going out to the (MTV) Video Music Awards together… and they’re promoting their album Welcome to the Dollhouse and working on their third.”

Great to hear all is supposedly well ‘in-house’, but a third album already? I mean that has to be some kind of joke, right? ‘Making The Band’ aside, the promotion for their current effort ‘Welcome To The Dollhouse’ has been far from satisfactory – lengthy gaps between singles…poor single choice(s) (I vote ‘no’ for ‘Bad Girl’) etc. Whoever is running the show in their camp needs to get it together ASAP, as this is quickly descending into one shambles of a situation. SMH…

I find this information really interesting since I have found 3 songs that Dawn has recorded by herself. hmmmmmmmmm
I doubt that they are breaking up, but the solo material is something to think about.

WHAT SINGLES WOULD U HAVE PICKED SAM???

  4. Anonymous August 29, 2008

    They are nobodies anyway..

A third album??? What the hell… Welcome To The Dollhouse is a great album, it should deserve 4 or 5 singles??? And come on, if they don’t promote Bad Girl, it’s never gonna be as successful as Damaged or Show Stopper was, even if it’s a great song. I love the band, their music is awesome, but their management is horrible.

^Agreed. The management is just OMG god awful. DK have a lot of potential. The single for BAD GIRL should have been performed live long time ago. WHAT IS THE HOLD UP?! A damn shame. If Dawn is going solo good for her. Smart move on her part cuz at this point without Promotion u r nobody.

I absolutely love that this rumor is about Dawn. IMO she is clearly the most talented. I would definitely support her but I doubt that she would succeed, it is way too early for her as a solo artist. Now, Aubrey is another story. I think the timing is perfect for her, but still my favorite has always and will always be Dawn.

I agree with the people above with the management story 10000%

OK DANITY KANE ARE A GREAT GIRL GROUP COMPARED TO PCD. THE DANITY KANE GIRLS ALL CAN SING. AND THERE ALBUM WAS JUST GENIUS. I DO THINK THEY NEED TO PICK A BETTER SINGLE. AND A THIRD ALBUM IS GOOD BUT NOT RIGHT NOW. ACTUALLY I HEARD THE BOYS (DAY 26) ARE ALSO WORKING ON A NEW ALBUM AND THERE WILL BE AOTHER SINGLE FROM THERE ALBUM. DANITY KANE ARE A GOOD GROUP AND I DONT WANNA SEE THEM BREAK UP.

  11. Anonymous August 29, 2008

Yeah but it was destined for DK to break up sooner or later. I could easilly see there in the near future be some turmoil between some of the girls. I mean they were litterally made from a TV, and all good things comes to an end.

I do agree with Sam, “Bad Girl,” was NOT a good single choice, at least not a second single. I like and think that “Lights Out,” would have been a way better single.

“Bad Girl,” to me has been weird since I heard it on the show. And it’s funny cuz all the girls were all feeling it. It was like whoa!

“Is Anybody Listening,” was another great song from the album, but to me if their debut which was much better only had 2 singles, can’t expect much more from this weaker (in my opinion) album.

And if anyone, I personally like Aubrey most out of the group. Even if her vocals aren’t the best, she does have the most personality.

As well, Day 26 to me is dead. Their first single was whack and so are they. I just don’t see them being ANYTHING liek B2K, Boys II Men, 112, or Jagged Edge. So to them good luck, but I just don’t see it.

Out of all 3 groups Diddy made, Dk is the best to me.

It does seem like if DK is working on new materiel like they see that ‘Welcome To The Dollhouse,’ was a flop.

Although I do not like “Bad Girl,” I give DK props for releasing a girl group FEATURING Missy Elliott b4 PCD went up and copied them, regardless of sound. They copied them.

Dawn’s solo material was before their 2nd cd.. so they’re def together still.

  14. Anonymous August 30, 2008

they have so many fans but they really arent special.
i personally like PCD better, i would much rather watch a performance and music video from them.
and why are they releasing a third album they will only get fukd over n dissapointed again.
i like day 26 wayy better.

  15. Anonymous August 30, 2008

Well when it comes to a live performance/video, I guess you have to chose. Do you want PCD with Nicole headlining their music videos and singing with what would look like a ton of backup dancers (since they don't sing much of the leads)…. OR Would you want to see a girl group who share's the lead vocals more so, and still dance? Hmmm, I guess it's almost kinda like Nicole & Company VS. DK?

I’m all up for a third album, but they have NOT done “Welcome To The Dollhouse” any justice, whatsoever. That was an excellent album that has MANY single worthy tracks.

Yes, their management is absolutely RIDICULOUS. I really like “Bad Girl” but they are do no promos at all. At least not that I’ve seen. Its so sad. They could be big, but again, their management is not working properly.

  17. Anonymous August 31, 2008

i would still pick pcd during live performances cause they always bring it on the dancing theyre always fierce and the routine is always intense and Nicole isnt a bad singer. while DK has very amateurish choreography. I like DK too theyre awesome singers and performers they always make me want to sing one shot and want it when they perform it but regardless of the singing part i still pick PCD cause theyre much more entertaining and thats what people are looking for. they bring something new to the table while dk are just like any other girl groups.

  18. Lola August 31, 2008

I think that DK is a group of vocally talented woman, and I really want them to succeed. I agree that their problems lie with their label and management.

I not to mention my pals appeared to be reading through the nice techniques found on your site and then all of a sudden I had a horrible suspicion I never expressed respect to the blog owner for those strategies. The people were happy to study all of them and now have very much been enjoying those things. Thanks for being simply thoughtful and then for considering certain decent tips most people are really needing to understand about. My honest regret for not expressing gratitude to you sooner Directorio de Articulos.
