Though an able singer, Perry sounded as if she’d been taking vocal lessons from her pal Rihanna – ultimately sounding like a shivering sheep. From the botched falsettos, to reaching for notes that clearly weren’t there, this was appalling in every sense of the word.
With her all-important sophomore album just weeks away from release, the soon-to-be Mrs Brand will have to address this if her wish to be taken seriously as an artist is to be achieved.

^^Rihanna’s voice was actually decent [during her Good Girl Gone Bad era. I thought she’d get better but she sounds horrible on this current tour/era.
Ciara has a nice tone but little range so she ends up sounding mono-tone alot of the time.
Basically, Neither will be remembered for their strong voices.

I know Sam likes Katy Perry, so obviously he isn’t throwing shade at her, just constructively criticism.
That being said, most of the performance was overtaken by backing tracks, so the few instances I was able to hear Katy’s voice, I didn’t think she sounded that bad. I’m not deluding myself into thinking she is by any stretch of the imagination a great singer, but she isn’t nearly as bad as people make her out to be. Maybe if she made better music that wasn’t so reliant on gimmicks people wouldn’t hate her so much.
