It is based on the boardgame called battleship.
Some aliens are invading the earth and the US Navy are gonna stop them.
The movie cost $200 Million to produce.
I was supposed to be released next July4th weekend but got bumped by Universal because they didn t wanna go head to head against Will Smith’s MenInBlack 3D.
This movie still got a great weekend for release date (the one before Memorial day).
People consider it the biggest gamble of the year for 3 reasons:
1) Movies at sea usually do poorly at the box office. Think Waterworld or Pearl Harbor. The producers have said that they have learned from those movies and are not gonna shoot too many scenes at sea, Instead they are gonna shoot as many scenes as possible at shore… just like Pirates Of The Carribean.
2) There is no veteran movie star in the movies. They are all up & comers: TV stars, models, singers…
So people wonder if the actor have the gravitas to carry such a movie.
3) The director Peter Berg is not a brand name like Michael Bay or James Cameron… His only HUGE movie was Hancock. And while that movie was successful, the success was mostly attributed to Will Smith starring in the movie rather than on the director’s skills. His other big budget movies were all flops. (But those were historical movies about dead british kings and romains so I think it’s unfair to compare.)
Universal almost scrapped the movie twice but it finally got greenlighted. So it is a HUGE GAMBLE.
Now that I ve seen the 1st Ieaser, I feel more confident that it will be a highly successful movie.

3rd, it is actually very normal for big action movie that the 1st teaser is not focus on the cast but rather on the mystery & on the big special effects.

Woolverine is named after 1 character, so it is obviously different.
This movie is named after an entire ship/crew. So it more closer to Xmen or Star Trek.

why are beyonce stans on here if all they do is talk s*** and complain and start meaningless fights? if any of you actually cared about talent you would wait to see the movie and then judge if she can actually act or talk about the movie, but the fact is that most of you are going to say it sucks because you don’t like rihanna, wait for the movie to come out then judge, because everyone knows that a trailer doesn’t mean anything. and just so everyone knows rihanna is the lead actress in this movie and she does all her stunts so regardless i resepect rihanna for giving it her all.

@pop royalty there are plenty of singers who can pull off a role as an actress. Jeniffer Hudson did it, brandy, and so did whitney houston. Beyonce does a good job of putting emotion in her music. Why can’t she do that on screen? The same acting you use on stage is the same acting that you put on camera. Just proves she’s some manufactured lifeless doll. Rihanna on the other hand is more genuine. If she can get herself in character and show her skills other than the average singer she already is, she has my respect.
