Kelis: ‘Racial Issues In The UK Are Disgusting’

Published: Monday 12th Sep 2011 by David

Renowned for being both outspoken and heavily opinionated, Pop maestra Kelis has never been one to mince her words when it comes to the issues that concern her.

However, very few could have anticipated what occured on Twitter just minutes ago when the ‘Milkshake’ singer aired out her thoughts on what remains to be a highly sensitive issue.

Find out what she has to say about racism in England and the role she feels it played  in its  recent riots below…

Recounting at event that occurred whilst at an airport in the UK with her son, the performer revealed to her supporters on the social networking site that she had been racially abused by a complete stranger.

Labelled  both a ‘slave‘ and  ‘ a disgusting Nigerian‘ by this stranger, she revealed:

Over 50 people said nothing. I mean literally nothing. Didn’t flinch. We all no I’m no saint, so I retaliated. Not the way I wanted to, or how that pig deserved.

But #1 my gorgeous baby boy was literally sitting on my hip and #2 I’m a believer. And we are better. Suposed to be anyway. It made me think. This person was aprox a 50 year old English man.

Going onto explain:

I didn’t say anything at the time of the riots in London for a lot of reasons. But I am in london all the time and today I’m gonna say that the racial issues in the uk are disgusting.

Decades behind progression because everything is swept under the rug. People don’t talk about it. People don’t fight about it.

WELL KELIS – NOT EVERYBODY IN THE U.K IS A “DISGUSTING RACIST” AS YOU PUT IT!!!

I AM A BLACK MAN BORN AND BRED IN LONDON, ENGLAND AND “LONDON” IS ONE OF THE MOST DIVERSE, VIBRANT AND INTER-RACIAL CITIES IN THE WORLD

    WHAT IS SHE TALKING ABOUT!!!

YOU CANNOT SUBJECT ONE OLD ENGLISHMAN TO AN OVERALL PERSPECTIVE OF “RACIAL ISSUES” IN THE U.K!!!

BESIDES THE EDL & BNP WHOSE “CENTRAL” OBJECTIVE IS TOO BAN IMMIGRANTS AND STOP MUSLIM EXTREMISM FROM TAKING OVER THE COUNTRY (AND YES, SOME OF THEM ARE RACIST) ENGLAND FLEW PAST THE “RACIAL LINE” A LOOOOOOONG” TIME AGO…

ALSO, THE RIOTS HAPPENED IN 5 CITIES ACROSS THE U.K – IN LONDON, THEY BLAMED IT ONE BOTH GANGS, IDIOTS, BLACKS AND WHITES – BUT IN MANCHESTER, LEEDS, BIRMINGHAM, LIVERPOOL ETC…THOSE CITIES ARE OVER 80% WHITE SO RACE WASN’T THE CASE IN THOSE CITIES!!!

SHE NEEDS TO SHUT THE F*** UP – SERIOUSLY!!!

  7. TALENT + SOUL = KING BEY & QUEEN ADELE September 12, 2011

    AND I DON’T CARE IF PEOPLE MAY SAY I AM “WHITE-WASHED” –

LONDON & ENGLAND IS MY HOME – BOTH MY PARENTS AND ONE OF MY GRAND-PARENTS WAS BORN HERE…SO FOR A *FOREIGNER* TO SAY THAT IS *EXTREMELY* OFFENSIVE TO ME!!!

Who the f*** does she think she is? How can she just call out a country for having ‘disgusting racial issues’. The riots were about people wanting free stuff and to f*** about cos they can without getting caught. Period. I live in croydon so i would know this. We do not struggle with racial issues nearly as much as anywhere in europe/australia/US. And i dont like how she wants to act all innocent, she went to jail for screaming racial profanities at police officers in ’07.

  9. Tahj M. September 12, 2011

@ The comment above mine ” YOU CANNOT SUBJECT ONE OLD ENGLISHMAN TO AN OVERALL PERSPECTIVE OF “RACIAL ISSUES” IN THE U.K!!! ” that’s not what Kelis did , what shocked her was the lack of involvement of the 50 people around her , seeing a young woman with a baby in her arms being harassed by a men , as a human being , no matter the color of your skin , you SHOULD do something !

    • Prince Gakim August 25, 2013

Yeah… but when was the last time you talked to a strange woman carrying a baby on a plane

  10. nice_gurl September 12, 2011

London is very diverse and has many cultures. And people that participated in the riots were both black and white. She just had a one off encounter with a racist person.

    PREACH!!!

THAT WAS MY POINT – LONDON HAS OVER A DOZEN CULTURES & BESIDES FRANCE, ITALY, NORWAY – WE ARE BY FAR THE MOST TOLERANT COUNTRY IN EUROPE!!! IF SHE WERE TO GO RUSSIA OR POLAND, THEN THAT WOULD BE ALMOST EXPECTED!!!

THE RIOTS WERE ABOUT IDIOTS WANTING STUFF – IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE!

    @TAHJ . M

I MAY HAVE WROTE THAN WRONG, BUT MY OPINION WAS BASED AROUND THE FACT THAT SHE SPOKE OF RACIAL ISSUES & THE RIOTS AS IF SHE WERE BRITISH AND HAVE LIVED HERE HER WHOLE LIFE!!! IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE!!! AND 50 PPL SURROUNDED AND SAID NOTHING…HMMM

  12. tyra September 12, 2011

i live in england and we dnt have no were near the amount of racism that african americans experience trust NO WERE NEAR THE MINUTE U SAY SOIN RACIST THATS IT FOR U ESPECIALLY IF U R IN THE PUBLIC EYE

  13. tyra September 12, 2011

TRUST ME IF AFRICAN AMERICANS CAME TO ENGLAND THEY WILL BE SHOCKED AS TO HOW BLACK PEOPLE RE TREATED WHITE PEOPLE DOWN HERE LOVE US BUT THEY IS A LOT OF RACIAL TENSION BETWEEN WHITE PEOPLE AND MUSLIMS THOUGH

  14. Melina September 12, 2011

What did she do to deserve that? I hope she cussed his ass out.

  15. London September 12, 2011

Disgusting? Please let this women take a seat. The riots were not race related, secondly she should look at her own country which has more racially induced incidents and where racist television networks are allowed to degrade blacks on a daily bases. Born and breed in Len I have never experienced any acts of racism. The uk ain’t perfect but I will be damn if an african america talks reckless about racism in the uk.

Preach and repeat it several times Kelis. Racism is the most disgusting pleague impacting the world today. Everything stems from racism (world wars, terrorism what have you).

    @TYRA

    EXACTLY!!!

I DARE ANY AFRICAN-AMERICAN TO FLY TO LONDON TOMORROW – LONDON IS SO MULTI-CULTRAL THAT YOU WOULDN’T EVEN BE NOTICED!!! YOU’D BE JUST ANOTHER BLACK MAN OR WOMAN WALKING DOWN THE STREETS!!!
    LOL!!!

  18. TALENT + SOUL = KING BEY & QUEEN ADELE September 12, 2011

    @LONDON

NEITHER HAVE I. NEVER. NOR HAVE MY PARENTS, SEEING THAT THEY WERE BORN HERE TOO.

  19. THEINTERN September 12, 2011

I suppose there’s something called free speech in the UK?! So, she has a right to vent her

feelings and opinions just like everyone else.

And TALENT + SOUL = KING BEY & QUEEN ADELE please be quiet, you sound like a

lackey to the status quo, which is quite embarrassing. The ‘multiculturalism’ spiel is so tired

and tattered- just because you repeat something a thousand times doesn’t make it true. It’s

obvious that blacks still have serious issues in the Uk and only a self-loathing black wouldn’t

    see them.

  20. ojie king September 12, 2011

I agree with TAHJ M. that seeing a young woman with a child on her hip being insulted should not be taken lightly.

  21. JUDAS666 September 12, 2011

MORONIC, LIKE SHE’S THE ONLY TWAT THAT HAS EVER SUFFERED RACISM??? RACISM OCCURS EVERYWHERE, TO EVERY MINORITY RACE, IN EVERY COUNTRY. WHAT MAKES HER SO SPECIAL??? AT LEAST SHE LIVED. OTHER COUNTRIES MINORITIES GET KILLED. “BLACK” ISNT THE ONLY F****** COLOR IN THE WORLD THAT HAS BEEN PREJUDICED! NEXT!!

  22. Ali September 12, 2011

@theintern ok youre being ridiculous! How can you say only a self loathing black wouldnt see racism issues in the UK? Because thats basically you saying that all black people who do not create non-existant racial negativity in the culture around them hate themselves… Which is completely stupid. Can i ask do u even live in the UK? Where exactly do u get this knowledge from?

And that you T+S=QB for having some sense n speaking truth!!

  23. Ali September 12, 2011

    *thank you

  24. Joy September 12, 2011

    @London

Racism in America is just as disgusting as the obvious racism in Britain. How in the world can you say the riots were not sparked by racial tensions in the UK? Every black person that was reluctantly interviewed particularly by the B**, stated that racism was the cause of their frustration. Not that I believe all of the ppl rioting were doing so because of racial bias. Some ppl were just out for the thrill of the drama.

  25. Jay September 12, 2011

TALENT + SOUL = KING BEY & QUEEN ADELE

You may born and bred in London but as long as your BLACK, your roots stem from AFRICA. People need to be familiar with their actual history before they start talking BS. People don’t speak up when it comes to racism, they want to act like they don’t see color. As long as my skin isn’t white and hair is coarse/nappy/ coily..etc, then I am different from the other blonde/ brunette/ginger/ silky haired girl. It doesnt mean that we should hate each other. The other has melanin and the other doesn’t.

Anyway, people are more active when you express hatred towards Jews but when black people are discriminated, everyone folds their arms and eventually do nothing about it.

Racism still exists..if ethnicism still exists in nations where people almost look alike then racism still exists in places where certain races have always been seen as superior.

    People should stop bullshitting!

  26. QUEEN POSH September 12, 2011

I live in the uk and to be honest racism is not dealt with properly she is right everything is swept under the carpet…. u wouldnt be happy if someone call u a s****… just becoz some of u havent had it doesnt mean it doesnt happen… there are nice pple but there are sick racist tooo

i feel for her being calld a s****…. that is sooo sad!
its sad to still be hold back by our colour!

  27. aisha aguilera keys September 12, 2011

I’m suprised that she’s talking about racism in the UK- my cousin lived in London and said he was suprised about how tolerant they were, he said it was very multi cult but that was only in London, outside of it peeps weren’t as tolerant. I even studied Multicult in the UK in college, and from what I learned they were pretty open in London. So I’m shocked when I hear this from Kelis. I know that in France peeps are very racist, yet even if I live in France I have never experienced racism (u get dragged to court), but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen to peeps I know. When it comes to tolerance, peeps here often bring up London, they say it’s cool there. So for Kelis to say this really shocks me.

  28. RHI RHI IS QUEEN September 12, 2011

SHE SHOULD GET OUT OF THAT CUMBAG CALLED THE UK AND JUST COME BACK HOME TO THE STATES..

  29. CheerfuL Cynic XD September 12, 2011

England is nowhere near as racist as the states

  30. me September 12, 2011

@JOY the riots in london on august of this month were not race riots and no media stations or newspapers have reported it as such.
brixton riots 1981 THEY were race riots. the riots of this year was not sparked by racial tensions, illustrated by the fact that it was the community versus the police and not one race versus another. it had nothing to do with race. this was clearly illustrated by the number of whites and other races involved. the riots was about tensions between the police and members of the community particularly youths were also white.
race riots are a completely different cattle of fish.

  31. Misty Jean September 12, 2011

UKersss need to stop acting like they are above racism. I’ve seen “Big Fat Gypsy Weddings” on TV… English folks being racist against minority white ethnic groups, Y’all should be ashamed of yourselves.

  36. TALENT + SOUL = KING BEY & QUEEN ADELE September 12, 2011

    OH PLEASE!!!

I’M SERIOUSLY NOT LOOKING TO READ ANY “FOREIGN PROPAGANDIC” COMMENTS ON THIS POST!!!

AND HOW COULD @THEINTERN SAY THAT I AM A SELF-LOATHING BLACK JUST BECAUSE I HAVE THE SENSE TO APPRECIATE, JUST LIKE MANY OTHER BLACKS IN THE BLACK-BRITISH COMMUNITY, THAT “RACISM” IS STILL DEFINED IN ONLY A SMALL CIRCLE OF PEOPLE. ESPECIALLY IN THAT OF THE U.K. LMFAO.

MY POINT TOWARDS MULTI-CULTRALISM IS THAT IN A PLACE WHERE SO MANY RACES, BREEDS AND ETNICITIES MIX – THERE IS A LESSER LIKELIHOOD THAT OUT-SPOKEN RACISM WOULD OCCUR UNLESS IT WAS A PROTEST, MARCH ETC…TAKEN BY A “RACIST LEAGUE OR GROUP” – I.E: THE E.D.L OR BNP!!!

THERE IS NOTHING SELF-LOATHING, MISQUOTED OR NON-SENSICAL ABOUT MY COMMENTS! I AM JUST SPEAKING THE TRUTH…OF COURSE EVERYBODY IS DISCRIMINAED AGAINST AT ONE POINT, BUT IT ISN’T ALWAYS TO DO WITH RACE – WHAT ABOUT PERSONALITY, SEXUALITY, RELIGON???

    @ALI – EXACTLY

  37. TALENT + SOUL = KING BEY & QUEEN ADELE September 12, 2011

    @THE-INTERN

AND HOW IS IT EMBARRASING, WHEN IN TRUE FACT, I AM 75% BLACK AND 25% WHITE – BUT AM STILL PERCIEVED AS A BLACK MAN, SOMETHING OF WHICH I AM EXTREMELY PROUD TO OBTAIN!!!

    PLEASE HUSH!!!

  38. gu September 12, 2011

She is absolutely right. But I think this runs further than just the UK. Just the a few things that I think are universal acts of ignorance when it comes to race.

#1. I work with a bunch of closet racists who almost every day put a foot so firmly in their mouths I’ve lost the will to put them in their place, I just choose to ignore them.

#2. I live in a area that has seen an influx of white people, whites who cant quite afford Primrose Hill or the likes so have moved to predominantly black areas with the hopes of whitening them out. Where I used to see and say hi to my neighbors I’m now living in a place where people either cross the street when they see me walking or look at me as if shouldn’t be in the area (even though I’ve lived there my whole life).

#3. I’m a trendy girl and always look smart yet I still get followed around stores (even by black guards) looked at as if I’m penniless, dismissed or given appallingly customer service by staff who barely speak a word of English.

These are minor and I’m sure universal. But to live this almost every day is exhausting. I’m pretty confident but you cant help feel offended and a little angry that these people feel so far above you that they can treat you like a criminal or any less of a human being. It’s even more frustrating that it is probably acceptable to the majority of society for them to do so.

  39. gu September 12, 2011

    @MaZ

OMG YES! I go to Paris quite a lot and it is atrocious there, cant speak for the rest of France.

And I do think the darker your complexion the more likely the discrimination.

  40. tyra September 12, 2011

i live in england and refuse to believe uk is as racist as america point blank

  41. TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN September 12, 2011

@Gu”with the hopes of whitening them out” What do you mean by this? People move to places they can afford. You really think white people are moving to black area’s so white people out number black people? You think loads of white people group together beforehand and say, lets move there? to whitening them out? Crazyyyyyyyy

  42. ERIC September 12, 2011

Kelis, I like your music and all, but WHY are you still relevant? And I agree… just because ONE englishman said something grotesque does NOT mean EVERY person in the UK is racist. My boyfriend lives in Manchester and happens to be of mixed race (Caucasian and Jamaican) he was BORN in the UK and has never said ANYTHING about race being an issue over there. I for one think that the UK is more progressive than the US (in which I live for the time being). STFU and find a road in your career before you ruin it ANY further by blasting a nation!!!

  43. King B September 12, 2011

@ some of the people on here denying racism in the UK:

Well for those of you that have never experienced it or or personally witnessed it, good for you. Really. But just because it hasn’t happened to you doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I hate it when people use their lack of a bad experience to dismiss those who have had them, as though their personal reality trumps all others. It’s insulting and even smacks of naivete. Yes, England is a multicultural country, as is the United States. No one has any problem pointing out the racial issues that still very much exist over here, and we look like a freakin’ Benetton ad at this point. So why are people super offended over the very suggestion that there’s racism in merry ol’ England? Getting f****** real. Racism exists everywhere in varying degrees. And no one has ever made the claim that it’s as bad in the UK as in the US, but it’s there. Let’s not pretend otherwise.

  44. BAPS September 12, 2011

THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION OVER WHO COUNTRY IS THE RACIST. NEWS FLASH THEY ALL HATE BLACKS NO MATTER WHAT COUNTRY , BECAUSE THEY HIDE FROM US OUR TRUE HISTORY AND WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED. THE RIOTS IN LONDON AND ALL THE FOOTAGE FROM DIFFERENT BLACKS SPEAKING ABOUT IT SUGGEST THAT LONDON HAS A HUGE PROBLEM LIKE AMERICA. THE QUEEN WILL NOT APOLOGIZE FOR SLAVERY ISM BECAUSE SHE IS APART OF IT.

INSTEAD OF ATTACKING KELIS WE SHOULD APPLAUD HER FOR SPEAKING UP. WHY MUST WE ALWAYS MISS THE BIG PICTURE WHICH IS RACISM, AND STOP ARGUING OVER WHO COUNTRY IS THE MOSTRACIST AND COME TOGETHER AND REALIZE THEY REALLY HATE US FOR WHO WE ARE. LONDON IS JUST AS GUILTY AS AMERICA, BRAZIL, AND CUBA TO NAME A FEW THAT HAVE MAJOR ISSUES WITH RACISM.

TO THE PEOPLE GETTING MADE BECAUSE SHE SAID “LONDON” SHOULD GET OVER IT AND OPEN THEIR EYES TO THE PROBLEM. AMERICA IS MY HOME AND IT IS DIVERSE, BUT IT IS RACIST AS HELL JUST LIKE LONDON, BECAUSE IF IT WASN’T BAD THE RIOTS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPEN, BECAUSE A RACIST COP SHOT A BOY IN THE HEAD AND BLEW HIS HEAD OFF YARDS FROM HIS HOME. THE SAME STORY IN AMERICA WHERE A BOY WAS SHOT IN THE BACK IN BROAD DAYLIGHT FOR NOTHING. KELIS IS EXPRESSING HERSELF NO NEED FOR ANGER..

  45. BAPS September 12, 2011

YES LONDON IS JUST AS RACIST AS AMERICA SMH THAT THIS IS CAUSING A ARGUMENT WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY. ONCE AGAIN YA’LL MISS THE POINT. RESEARCH HISTORY,LONDON IS JUST AS DISGUSTING AS AMERICA POINT BLANK, THE FACT HE DISRESPECTED HER AND NO ONE SAID ANYTHING IS BECAUSE THEY ALL FELT THAT WAY. WHY DID HE CALL HER NIGERIAN?? AND A S****?? SLAVES BUILT THE WORLD AND IF IT WASN’T FOR OUR ANCESTORS TEACHING THEM HOW TO TAKE CARE OF A FAMILY, BE INDEPENDENT, AND BUILDING LIKE THE SLAVES BUILT THE WHITE HOUSE IN THE USA. PLEASE BELIEVE THAT THE RACISM IS THE SAME ALL OVER AND IT IS DISGUSTING!!!

    KELIS PREACH!

I MYSELF AM VERY ANGRY HOW SOME OF THE COCONUTS IN HERE ARE DISMISSING RACISM BECAUSE THEY THEMSELVES HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED IT…. YOU MAKE ME SICK!

THE RACISM IN THE UK IS ALIVE AND KICKING BELIEVE ME… BLACK PEOPLE IN ENGLAND ARE SOFT, THEY OVERLOOK THE BIG ISSUE THINKING THAT BY BEING QUIET AND SUBMISSIVE IT WILL GO AWAY. THE TRUTH IS IT WILL NEVER GO AWAY AND BY ACTING LIKE IT DON’T EXIST IS ONLY MAKING THE SITUATION WORSE BY LETTING WHITE PEOPLE NOT KNOW THEIR BOUNDARIES WITH US.

SOMETIMES THE ‘OUTSIDER’ CAN SEE THINGS BETTER THAN THE NATIVE….

    YOU GO FIGURE

    SMH

  50. gagalicious September 12, 2011

How did this become a “how dare African Americans…” arguement?? She was disrespected at an airport in London. She has a right to speak up. And save all that “Racism in the UK is not as bad as it is in the US, Australia and Europe”….that’s how OPRESSED people talk. RACISM IS RRACISM. As an American I must say that it depends on where uu live in America. Some areas are full of ignorant racist bastards. As far as the riots not being race related -___- …..if thats what you black British ppl want to believe then so be it. To me it was triggered by YEARS of opression in the black community. I mean that’s what ppl being interviewed were saying soooooooooo…….and also DONT TALK DOWN ON AMERICA, like Obama said ‘Only in America ishis story possible’ ….we need to come together as a people. To read ccomments degrading African Americans is disgusting being ttjay its coming from people with ththe same skin color but different nationality. OPEN YOUR DAMN EYES

Kudos to KELIS for doing what apparently from these comments the black youth in the u.k. don’t want to admit.

I’m still tripping at him calling her nigerian…so all blk ppl are Nigerian? SMH

“SOMETIMES THE ‘OUTSIDER’ CAN SEE THINGS BETTER THAN THE NATIVE….”

!!!!!! Just like a woman being abused verbally by jer husband. She may not see it or care because its become a norm to her…a friend realizes it and says “that’s not cool”

Like I said The people in hhere are something else….brainwashed & obviously oppressed.

America has racism, Great Britain has racism, Australia….s*** even Africa. Don’t differentiate your struggle, compare and conquer it.

  53. gagalicious September 12, 2011

    @Onyx.

I live in NY also and yes racism is rarely sseen but it doesn’t mean its not around. That’s why I love NY! different cultures, ethnicities, religions and races..one big melting pot and its safe to say that if that happrn at JFK airport with 50 ppl around someone wouldve spoken up.

Also to that person who said “Muslims (Arabs) in the UK deal with racism
Not black people” …that makes it OK? So because its not you its alright? -__-

  54. Truth September 12, 2011

I support Kelis. I’ve been to England enuf times n its true.

  55. Dunk September 12, 2011

I’m from the UK and Kelis is right! The UK is a diverse country with a very large muliti racial comminity and it’s a beautiful place to be in mainly for that reason, however we suffer the worst type of racism, racism that is swept under the table and never talked about, BNP are gaining more political seats every year and the media coverage of the riots let alone the course of the riots initially is a testimony that we have major issues here that are not delt with, urban society here is far from Racist, but don’t be fooled into thinking we are tolerant cos the riots spoke volumes!

  56. Lady Love September 12, 2011

Why are the black people bashing Kelis for standing up for “Black People”!!!!!
Lol. Are y’all serious? Do y’all want to be back in slavery. ? Dumbass gags. Of course racism is everywhere but at least Kelis is making it public about her discrimination and not ignoring it or pushing it under the rug. She loves London, She’s not insulting the whole Country just the situation that she just encountered. Racism is not Fun or Exciting, you should be happy that someone wants to fight back from getting y’all hung from a tree. But no…. U bash her just to have something negative to say. Y’all F*** ain’t gon be happy till all our rights are taken away. Let Rick Perry get into office….see what happen.

  57. Lady Love September 12, 2011

She’s not blasting a nation. She said Racism in the UK is disgusting.
Alllllll Racism is disgusting!!! Not just in the UK, but she was describing her situation.
Let someone call you a N*****, and see how you react.

  58. Abluve September 13, 2011

To those who say Kelis should shut the F*** up: Don’t we live in a liberating society whereby each individual is entiled to a FREE voice?

The question is why was she being discriminated on at the airport by a white male attendant? And why is he referencing Nigeria?

Racial encounters of any kind should never be taken lightly but seriously and there are some Dumb F***s on this blog disrepecting a sister just because she is speaking out!

IDIOTS exists everywhere but this kind of discourse on a blog in the 21st century is not immersed on the ignorance but is equally sad that mind evolution is at an all time LOW.

  59. Scott September 13, 2011

What an ignorant old fool and Kelis has every right to be angry. She should have reported him to airline staff or the police, racial abuse of this sort is a criminal offence.
Racism continues to be an issue around the globe.Of course London is a multi cultural city and we do for the most part get along.Visit areas where there are few blacks and you will see different attitudes in the UK that is a fact.
Black people need unity and to build our communities from within in both the US and UK we still suffer from high levels of unemployment, too many black men especially going to prison, poor schools and lower incomes, racism plays a big part in this.

  60. jack hart (USA) September 13, 2011

i have english friends who visits the usa and for their profession (blk females / computer science). there is racism in the uk when it comes to salaries. i’m not saying racism in not an issue in the usa, kelis has the right to stand up and make a point about the trangression against her.

  61. ALI September 13, 2011

Gagalicious do not p*** me off!! I am being serious how can you say the riots were because of race when you live in new york!! What the f*** really?! I live in croydon, my primary school is opposite the huge furniture store that was burned down!! I walked past it everyday where that woman is shown jumping from the building!! I think i would know better than you that the people who were destroying the place where i live were not doing so for racial reasons! There were many white, black AND asian people involved with the riots! And to say we have had years of oppression in the UK is ridcolous! Have you ever even been here?!! You have NO idea what you are talking about, so please just dont talk!!

And sorry baps you do realise the ‘boy’ was a drug dealer who a squad were trying to arrest?? People wernt rioting because he was shot! They were rioting for the thrill of it and the free stuff!

  63. BAPS September 13, 2011

    ALI,
STFU NO ONE DESERVES TO BE SHOT IN THE HEAD SMH AT YOUR IGNORANCE. SECONDLY THE DOCTORS ARE THE BIGGEST DOPE PUSHERS OF “MEDICAL PILL”.
IF YOU THINK THEY WAS RIOTING FOR THE THRILL MAKES ME THINK YOU ARE WHITE OR WHITEWASHED. WHO MADE THE COPS GOD, AND DID YOU SEE THE DRUGS? YOU SHOULD HAVE CAME BETTER THAN THAT. FOR YOU TO DEPICT MY COMMENT IS A DISGRACE TO YOURSELF. THE RIOTS IN AMERICA IN THE 60S HAPPENED BECAUSE MARTIN LUTHER KING WAS KILLED SO OUT OF FRUSTRATION THE BLACKS RIOTED . THEREFORE THE RIOTS IN LONDON HAD THE SAME BASIS. PLEASE SET DOWN AND READ A BOOK..

  64. BAPS September 13, 2011

ALI IS AN OPPRESSED HOUSE N***** STILL STICK IN S**** MENTALITY ..

  65. Ali September 14, 2011

I didnt say he deserved it im just saying dont make out like it was a rabdomer walking down the streets. I do know why the US riots happened, but that was in america 50 years ago!! It is f****** different yere! We are not just a smaller version of america, things happen for different reasons!! Do u think the riots in asia, greece were happening because of racism?? No! So that shows obviously that riots happen for different reasons! And tbh all u americans can really justfuck off. Cause you do not live where the riots happened, you do not know the first thing about them! Would people rioting cos of racial oppression pose with all their looted goods on facebook?? Or would a white man get convictef of burning stuff down?? U do not know the first f****** thing about my city so go away. P.S I AM NOT BLACK, AND IF I AS IT DOES NOT GIVE U THE RIGHT TO CALL ME A HOUSE HOUSE N*****!!

  66. T TOP September 16, 2011

Has anyone confirmed this actually happened? It just seems unlikely as the racial slurs she says were directed at her were ones I have never heard in the UK (and I have come across racist people but thankfully its a rare occurance), ‘S****’, ‘Nigerian’ and ‘kunta kinte’ I have never heard used in a racial attack here. ‘Kunta Kinte’ from ‘Roots: The Saga of an American Family’ is an american book by an american author, which probably gets little circulation here in the UK. Why would a british person be quoting it?

Now queue jumping is a seriously heinous crime in the UK (for non uk people you’ll have to accept this, it is a cultural thing). I think she got dressed down for queue jumping and added the racial overtone for publicity. What I do find offensive is her indication that the whole country has a problem, which simply isn’t true.

  67. Dunksta September 16, 2011

Now she is saying this happened in Spain. (not a part of the UK fact fans)

You couldn’t make this up, except Maybe she did.

P.s Baps you sound a little bit rasist yourself, as do others throwing words like coconuts around. Just so you know not all White people are part of a conspiracy to bury black history and keep people down. Much love D x

Since the airport was in Spain and the person who ‘allegedly’ insulted her was not actually British, perhaps Kelis might want to withdraw her silly comments?

  69. Scotty September 17, 2011

Oh so now you are admitting to lying Kelis, it happened in SPAIN????
You just bit the hand that feeds you, you are moderately famous in the UK but in the US they say Kelis who?
Try disparaging your own country next…… Oh yeah they wouldn’t even know who you are…..

  70. Bob September 17, 2011

She’s a liar and a drama queen. What actually happened is that she jumped the queue and threw a temper tantrum when someone told her to “get to the back”. That’s not racism, just a dislike of rude queue-jumpers with inflated ego’s who think being a celebrity means trampling on others at will. The fact it happened in Spain and not Britain speaks volumes about her intelligence of not even knowing which country she’s in…

Kelis also showed her own racism up back in 2007:-
