The journey to JoJo‘s third studio album has been a bumpy one, however the vocal powerhouse is now accelerating full speed with the hotly anticipated project.
Yesterday, we reported that the 24-year-old will release a trio of new singles on August 21st – much to the delight of her legion of loyal supporters.
And while fans wait with bated breath, the Boston native is treating the masses to a preview of what they can expect.
Backed by a full band, the songbird soared like only she can while performing at a Wild 94.1 showcase last night.

If you look at what’s going on in the music at that time, one phrase overlaps another. There are multiple layers going on. It would have been impossible to sing both parts simultaneously.
That portion was obviously pre-recorded, but I think it was intended to allow every layer in the arrangement to be heard. She’s obviously singing live. This doesn’t appear to be a blunder on her part, if you stop and actually think about the music.

JoJo is the only other person that has covered “Weak” that I can listen to and not compare it to the original. She has a strong voice.

Freedom never sounded so good! I’m so excited for her! I’m also excited for her to gain the respect she deserves! There’s singers out there with good voices, sure. But you can’t mimic soul. I’m so ready for this!
